HAHAHA yes. On the rare occasion when a character I have become attached to actually makes it to the end of the book intact, I consider it a cause for major celebration. But even when he does bump them off, I still appreciate his characterization skills because I feel it that much more, and it's rare for fictional deaths to really affect me like that. (For example, it took me ages to make it through the last Dark Tower book, because I got to a certain point and then I just had to stop reading, sob.)
