TIME FOR A CELEBRATION. OH, WHEN YOU'RE DOWN AND LOOKING FOR SOME CHEERING UP~


1. Well, after weeks and months of speculation, it all comes down to this. Brace yourselves, everyone, and drum roll, please, because we are about to officially begin...

THE INHERITANCE ARC

SEVEN+ DIFFERENT GUESSES AND I STILL WASN'T EVEN CLOSE. For that matter, I don't think anyone managed to predict this right. Oh well, we gave it our best shot. XD I think we all knew this was coming eventually, though; it's just that no one expected it quite so soon.

But I'm excited. |D That color spread is six kinds of epic, I like the designs for the new characters, and most of all, I'm excited for the fact that if this really is an inheritance arc, there's like a 90% chance at least part of it will take place in Italy. FINALLY AN ARC WITH REAL MAFIA STUFF. I don't know that any of us could have hoped for more than that.

Anyway, let's get on with this thing.


2. OWL MAIL! I see the Vongola are big Harry Potter fans, as well as big fans of any and all things pink. Pink stationery is the most official kind there is. Loving your taste there, Ninth.

And aww, I really missed scenes like this. "DAMMIT I'M LATE FOR SCHOOL MOOOOOOOM WHY DIDN'T YOU WAKE ME UP??" Makes me wonder how the hell he ever managed to wake up on time back in the future. LOOK INTO AN ALARM CLOCK, WHY DON'T YOU, TSUNA.

AND APPARENTLY THERE IS A GROUP OF DELICIOUS TRANSFER STUDENTS COMING TO HIS SCHOOL TODAY. No doubt this is completely coincidental and has absolutely nothing to do with the upcoming plot. I wonder if middle school classrooms in Japan ever get normal transfer students thare are in no way plot-related.


3. HOLY MOTHER OF GOD. I'm sorry, I just have to take a second here to admire... everything. XD So this is Adelheid, officially the hottest of the new characters, and I pronounce her thus because she is apparently capable of instantly transforming me into a hormonal teenage male. SERIOUSLY. HOT. Shimon Middle School, whoever your uniform designer is, I'm going to marry them.

Incidentally, they caused an earthquake when they returned from the future? Geez. And how much time ended up passing in the present while they were gone, anyway? Are they really just going back to their day-to-day lives and no one is the slightest bit curious as to where they were (and why they just happened to pop up again at the same time that a massive earthquake struck)? Namimori is the most oblivious town in the world.


4. And the plot begins! Reborn, having recommenced his stalking of Tsuna (all is again right in the world), presents the Ninth's pink letter of officialness to Tsuna, whose response proves beyond all doubt that he's Namimori born-and-bred. "INHERITANCE OF WHAT?" JESUS, TSUNA, WHAT DO YOU THINK? Or maybe he's just really in denial.

If he is, Reborn certainly shows him no mercy. HA. Although I have to admit, I do kinda echo Tsuna's surprise that this is happening so soon. I suppose that whole saving the world thing convinced the Ninth that Tsuna's had all the training he's going to need. Except that there's more to running the most important family in the mafia than blowing things up. I ASSUME. But I could be wrong! I mean, just look at the extremely dignified "BLAH BLAH I CAN'T HEAR YOU!!" tantrum Tsuna's throwing at this news. Clearly he's matured by leaps and bounds.


5. Seriously, so far this chapter is doing a tremendous job of reminding us that Tsuna is still every inch the fourteen-year-old he's always been (well, he wasn't always 14, but YOU KNOW WHAT I MEAN). I love that he stuffed his Vongola ring in a box under his bed, and made the twin assumptions that a) THIS WAS SOMEHOW A GOOD IDEA, and b) REBORN WOULD NOT FIND IT. And this is the kid who's supposedly all set to officially become the tenth boss of the Vongola. There seems to be a serious gap between how ready Reborn and Timoteo presume Tsuna is, and how ready he actually is. This is going to be interesting.

Also of interest: the extremely weird bird... thing...? that appeared seemingly out of nowhere and went kersplat on the ground as Tsuna and Reborn went off on their merry way. What the hell was that?


6. Ah, I was wondering when we'd get to see my two favorite guardians again. |DDD It's been a long time since Gokudera's had a good opportunity to switch into thug mode. ALL SET TO KICK THE NEW KIDS' ASSES. And meanwhile, Yamamoto's all ready to welcome them into the baseball club. I missed this so much. All of it. It's been so long since they've been allowed to relax and just be kids again, and so far this chapter has given me so many Daily Life flashbacks it's not even funny.

Hell, we've even got Kyoko crushin' and the long overdue reapparance of Hana! Good to see you again, Hana. HAVE YOU TALKED WITH KYOKO'S BROTHER BY ANY CHANCE LATELY? I love how she's not there two seconds and she's already reminding us of her two main character traits: she is Kyoko's bff, and she hates kids. JUST IN CASE WE FORGOT. Because it has been a while, after all.

Woooooow their teacher is amazingly boring. I almost can't blame Tsuna for his meager grades, because I'd be asleep in minutes just looking at this guy. XD I imagine he sounds a lot like Ben Stein. Even when he's announcing something interesting, I'm just zzzzzzzzz...


7. I WON'T TELL YOU THAT I LOVE YOU, KISS OR HUG YOU, CUZ I'M BLUFFIN' WITH MAH MUFFIN, I'M NOT LYIN' I'M JUST STUNNIN'

Perhaps sensing that the manga was lacking in fabulousness since the untimely demise of Byakuran, Amano makes the decision to introduce Lady Gaga as a new character! Thanks to the spoiler discussion over at the comm, I will never be able to unassociate the two of them now. XD

AND YEAH. YOU READ THAT NAME RIGHT. SHITT P.

I think the reaction shots say it all.


8. Oh my God. It's the return of Nerdy!ConspiracyTheorist!Gokudera! WEEK IS MADE. Man, this page is enough to make a fangirl weep with joy--we've got the glasses, the occult/science-fiction obsession, and MOTHERFUCKING G-SCRIPT, all within three panels! STUDY HER WELL, DERA. STUDY HER WELL. Is it wrong of me to hope this becomes a running gag throughout this whole arc? "HECK NO, WE'LL GET SICK OF IT" you say, but I have to disagree; I think it would actually get funnier every time it happened. ...No? WELL, WHATEVER, I FIND IT AMUSING.

Anyway, next on the new character list is Enma, who appears to be a breeding experiment in which Shouichi and Tsuna's DNA were combined along with that of a zombie with dead, dead eyes. He's a little creepy. Maybe a lot creepy. I haven't decided yet.

Meanwhile, highly entertaining plot developments are in the works over in the disciplinary committee room. 8D A RIVAL APPEARS! Liquidation Committee (???) VS Disciplinary Committee! IT'S THE THROWDOWN OF THE CENTURY. Am I the only one who has the strange impression that Adelheid might actually be able to kick Hibari's ass? Or maybe I'm just hoping she can because she's my favorite.


9. Ffffff omg he's got a bullhorn and everything. XDDDDD There's something about seeing Reborn LOUDLY ANNOUNCE that Tsuna won't forgive anyone who preys on the weak that is just hilarious to me, in spite of the fact that we've seen this kind of gleeful sadism from him countless times in the past. You know, the color page may say Inheritance Arc, but I think it's safe to say we ended up with at least one chapter of Daily Life regardless. And it's been awesome.

Also, these guys recognize Tsuna on sight? WHAT. Because seriously, if these guys are middle schoolers, then I'm a... well, actually, I'd better not finish that analogy, because one of the new characters already shares the same name as me, so for all I know it might come true. XD


10. Sawada Tsunayoshi, you've just murdered the most powerful dictator in history with fire that you blasted from your own shounen hands! WHAT ARE YOU GONNA DO NEXT? "I'm going back to the past to get my ass kicked by a couple of small town thugs!" XD Reborn's observation is right on the nose; when it comes to himself, Tsuna just has no spine at all.

So what's going on here, anyway? Seems like Enma's got himself a pair of rings (WHY IS IT ALWAYS RINGS) and they're really conspicuous somehow. Guess we'll find out more soon enough.


So there we have it, the start of a brand new arc. So far, I'm enjoying it, although to be fair, there hasn't really been much to like or dislike one way or the other yet. This was a fairly slow-paced chapter, which is fine by me--something of a relief, actually. We got a couple of new characters (which, by the way, I'm not sure if I buy into the speculation that they might be the 9th generation guardians, because there are one too many and they seem way too young), along with a pink letter from the Ninth boss that will move the plot along quickly enough, I'm sure. But for now, it's really nice to enjoy some DL nostalgia. Anyhow, LONG POST IS LONG so I'll shut up now.

Also, Happy Birthday to ranty_rie (BELATED OF COURSE, AS PER USUAL), and since I know I'll be late otherwise, Happy Birthday to downpours as well! ♥

And just because Adelheid wasn't involved in the EPIC BATTORU FOR THE FATE OF THE WORLD (not her fault it happened TEN YEARS LATER in a NOW-PARALLEL UNIVERSE) doesn't mean she can't have skillz.

I also thought that Gokudera had some prior knowledge about her and that she was some kind of robot or something, then I realized that it was just a smashing return of his dorky side. xD He still looks like a chick.

I actually don't want her to kick Hibari's ass. I want them to continue to snarl at each other because they can't beat one another. That would be funnier. xD

Enma is forgettable. I forgot his name instantly. Then again, I don't remember the Liquidation committee chick's name either. But I did, at least, have a lasting thought about her even though she had less screen time than... Enma. Right, his name's Enma. I'll try to remember that.

RANDOM COMMENT IS RANDOM (and I would very much like to introduce myself properly one day, when I am not too busy squeeing over new chapters).

There is just so much to love already (does it really say that one guy's name is "Large" on the splash?!) I don't even know where to begin! Shitt P. Really? And this isn't at all questionable? (And what are those hoop things around her?)

I think--maybe?--that the dead!bird!thing might have been the same one that delivered the letter to Reborn, which makes me wonder if Adelheid killed it considering she had just finished glaring at Tsuna. She killed it with her glare of death. And I dunno, I think Enma is cute in a "small defenseless creature that needs a hug" sort of way, which is probably going to bite me in the ass if he turns out to be some big serial killer. Which is probably very close to the truth.

I wonder what the glowing rings could mean? I'm guessing that Tsuna's Sky Ring and Enma's whatever-Ring glowing when they come in contact with each other is supposed to be important, somehow (Reborn finds it interesting, it must be notable!), but why? Unless the full!Sky Ring glows when it comes into contact with any other ring and we just haven't had a chance to see it yet, considerng how quickly we went through the post-Byakuran's-death section of TYL.

And Nana says that the Shimon Middle School students moved to Namimori because of the earthquake and because Namimori is "less prone" or something? If the earthquake was caused by Tsuna-tachi returning from the future, wouldn't Namimori have been the epicentre of the quake? Still, nice to see something shiny, bright and new! (We need color pages more often, Amano!)

Totally agree. The new characters are classic Amano and all kinds of amazing (SHITT. P. WHAT IS THIS).

I like the theory that the dead bird might be the same one who delivered the Ninth's message, although that bird had some sort of weird-looking box necklace thing around its neck, so maybe not. Although that could have been stolen or something. Or maybe that's what those things were that seemed to be falling off it (that panel was a little unclear, idk). AND PEOPLE KEEP SAYING ENMA IS CUTE, SOB. He is kind of adorable in that same pathetic-ish way as Tsuna, but HIS EYES omg. THEY CREEP ME THE FUCK OUT.

The ring scene was confusing, but I suspect we'll find out more about that shortly. I couldn't actually tell if the rings were glowing or not, though; it could have just been Tsuna's hyper intuition (although that wouldn't explain why Enma freaked and ran off with his pants half-on).

It strikes me as pretty odd that any part of Japan would be earthquake-immune, personally. But this is KHR, so really, that's the least of my worries. XD And yeah, it's great to have a new storyline at last. I'm definitely having fun so far.

I love how we got a DAILY LIFE CHAPTER. WITH PLOT. :DDDDDD Gokudera being dorky! Tsuna spending some time as his wimpy self, just having beaten the dictator of the world not withstanding! Mysterious transfer students! Kyouko looking like a mini-Byakuran!

Is it a bad thing that I'm hoping Adelheid turns out to be Hibari's canon love interest? They would kick each other's asses so hard.

I'm kind of wondering if they're an up-and-coming mafia family. Because HEY THAT WOULD BE AWESOME. (The boss is either Lady Gaga Shitt P. (very likely) or Enma (also fairly likely, possibly with Adelheid serving in some kind of Squalo position).)

I KNOWWWW IT'S THE BEST OF BOTH WORLDS. ♥ It's so awesome just to have them hanging out at school and being themselves again without any plot pressures (for however long that lasts XD). This chapter was so much fun.

I do kinda ship it already, lol. MMM RIVALS. Though it would also be nice to have a prominent female character who for once wasn't someone's love interest, because she's got so much else going for her already. And I wouldn't want that to become the focus. BUT YES, IT WOULD BE A LOVE/HATE RELATIONSHIP FOR THE AGES.

I'm holding off theories until we get a little more to work with, but that wouldn't be surprise me. As for who the leader is, based solely on the color page and on his interaction with Tsuna in this chapter, my money's on Enma for now. In my mind, the real question is, leader of what? XD

And heh, that was win, especially after we had such a long drought without nerdy!Gokudera. Yet another thing I absolutely loved about this chapter.

Yeah, it does kind of look like that's the necklace breaking apart in that last panel. But in the second to last panel on page 9, it doesn't quite look like the same bird; the feather pattern seems different and the neck is too long. But that could just be art fail on Amano's part, and your explanation makes the most sense.

AND YAY FOR INHERITANCE ARC! Though, lulz, I started writing a fic about this and haven't finished it yet. OTL Now I wonder if I should post it or not. XD

The arc is looking interesting, though, and I'm loving the new characters. I don't know, I think one of Amano's greatest strengths is creating interesting characters. I thought some of the Millefiore could have been fleshed out more, but hey! Who knows? I'm just excited this is THE inheritance arc!

Definitely agree that character design is one of Amano's strengths. So far I love the look of all the new guys, and from what we've seen of them so far, they have the potential to be a lot more entertaining and interesting than the Funeral Wreaths, and this is coming from someone who actually liked most of the FWs. And yeah, Tsuna becoming the official Tenth boss at last... this has the makings of something epic.

It never even occurred to me that it would be anyone other than the Ninth (because who else would it be in a Vongola inheritance ceremony), but he does look an awful lot like Gamma, doesn't he? I hope this means we'll get to see him in this arc. The Ninth, I mean. ...though also, Gamma too. >_>

He was. It was like all my favorite things about him rolled up and condensed into just a few pages. NERD, THUG, GENIUS, PARANOID CONSPIRACY WEIRDO.

That is absolutely going to happen. And of course, after that, Yamamoto will be absolutely convinced that Gokudera is gay if he wasn't already. XDDD

AM I REALLY THE ONLY ONE WHO WANTS TO SEE SOMEONE TAKE HIBARI DOWN A PEG? XD Both for lulz and character development. After all, SOMEONE, SOMEWHERE must surely be stronger than him, and Adelheid is so cool I really desperately want her to have some awesome superpower besides for boobs. XD And yeah, somewhere there is a terrifyingly perverted uniform designer in Japan who is extremely pleased with his work.

I HOPE SO. I really enjoyed all the daily life-ness going on in this chapter, and I definitely wouldn't mind a couple more (more time to check in on the other guardians, by which I mean RYOHEI, too).

Like you, I was OVA THE MOON when I realised that chapter 283 signals the start of a new AWESOME arc. I mean OMG. Inheritance ceremony arc? Beyond my wildest dreams. I was still dreading the onslaught of filler chapters after the TYL arc.

Tsuna is 15 going 16. I've read a transcription of Amano-sensei's interview somewhere and thats what she claimed. [Start of Manga: 14 yrs. Varia Arc: 15 yrs. TYL arc: 15 going 16]

As a side note, I would really appreciate Lambo to start growing up somewhat and make himself useful (or not that useless). While I laugh at his constant retardedness, Lambo's uselessness means that Tsuna has 6, not 7 guardians.

Just looking at that color page makes me so excited for this arc. Though we're still getting tiny bits and pieces of daily-life-style filler mixed in with the developing plot so far, which I'm also loving. I didn't want them to just dive right in without at least a quick breather first, so I'm glad.

I recall seeing an interview like that posted on the comm at some point, but IIRC an official source was never confirmed, so I'm a bit wary that it might have been a hoax. So I'm just basing the age off of the character book, which says that he's 14 as of the start of the Future arc. It's just less complicated for me. XD

Yeah, the Future arc was really lacking in Lambo awesomeness for the most part, especially since the TYL bazooka wasn't a weapon option. It'd be really nice to see him be a bit more guardian-y in this arc. I did think his box weapon was awesome, so that's a step in the right direction, anyway.

I looked at the cover before I read the chapter - like, before it was translated. And it was really fun trying to figure out what the hell was going on in that picture xD ; Me and my friend Cobi speculated that maybe the seven people down the bottom were the 9th's guardians (although I argued that the lady with the butterfly makeup was probably not a lady, and probably Kikyou's long lost twin brother, but she didn't agree), once we found out the new arc was the Inheritance Arc. _{... But no, they're just transfer students 8D b}

Also, that bird thing that delivered the ninth's note was straaaange... I counted that when it sort of exploded, there were seven black blobs around it though. They kind of look like gems. Is this where the new rings came from??? THE STOMACH OF A BIRD?????? (That idea is so crazy that it just might be right, actually.)

And ffff I might get smacked for saying so BUT I REALLY DON'T LIKE ADELHEID. First of all: she's a walking pair of watermelons (though I suppose it's about time the guys finally got some fanservice; god knows there has been enough for the females), and second of all, if she knocks Hibari from the top place of BAMF, she will no longer exist in my mind. >___> ; I don't like her. Rrrrrr. Also, what kind of a name is Adelheid? ... But then, what kind of a name is Shitt.P? I think that Amano needs to study her cultures more before she tries to write them, because I'm pretty certain that Shitt.P isn't French. xDDD Or any other sane language for that matter. LANGUAGE OF THE ALIENS.

Enma also kind of creeps me out in a way that I can't explain. Maybe because he reminds me a little bit of Tsuna, being all down and "uhhh, I get beaten up all the time..." I was fully expecting him to snap and shout at the teacher though when he said "speak up!" or something like that. God, can you imagine Enma secretly being abso-fucking-lutely terrifying on the inside?

And also, I really love the explanation for why they came to the school. Something about earthquakes. It's so highly unlikely - and there is SEVEN of them (seven = lucky magic number in this series) and wow what an amazing coincidence that they just happen to know Tsuna! O:

S-So I just got finished reading the latest chapter and I remember someone a while back mentioning your comments on Byakuran and I was curious if you did chapter reviews and here it is, the latest one~! Hehe, sorry, sorry, I ... really shouldn't be randomly spamming your journal ;; But. I just couldn't resist commenting after reading that! Ffft, I get finished reading one chapter and having random lol moments and then I read through this and couldn't stop laughing!

Oh god, I loved all of the megane!dork moments from Gokudera. I missed those moments. You're so right. We needed a reminder of the DL arc for good measure before we plow straight ahead into the new Inheritance arc, which I kind of excited about if only because I can't wait to see this Kouyou person. Enma. Is admittedly adorable, but you're right o.o I couldn't stop staring at his eyes and going wtf?! o.o He truly is some cross-breed experiment gone wrong. Or maybe right? ... And now my fangirl resorts to non-existent theories about him possibly having connections to Verde or some other mad scientist.

And. We need Ryohei + Hana interaction. Sooooooon. That'll be just to funny for words. Someone needs to write how that would go down already.

... Okay. I'm officially done rambling and spamming you ;; I'll go laugh somewhere else now about the Shitt P Lady Gaga. Will not be able to look at either of them the right way again. At all.

I really am so glad Amano gave us a bit of DL before the plot gets going again. I can't wait to see Kouyou either; it doesn't hurt that he reminds me a lot of Verde and maybe a bit of Kawahira too. And I still can't quite shake the feeling that Enma is going to kill everybody in their sleep, adorable though he may be. It actually wouldn't surprise me if he did have some mad scientist connection (maybe if Kouyou turns out to be a scientist-type...).

I have high hopes for next week, since we haven't seen Ryohei post-Future arc yet, and there's a good chance that when he does appear, we'll get something with him and Hana. Or maybe that's just the fangirl in me hoping. I agree, it'll be hilarious when it does happen.

Lol, yeah. What has been seen cannot be unseen. XD

And omg I'm so glad someone else finally agrees! It really is about time he met another apex predator to play with.

"Lady Gaga" is absolutely amazing, I have to admit. I kind of like Adelheid as well, though I hope that she won't be too much like Hibari. Imo, introducing "mirror characters" is mostly lame; that's also the reason why I kind of dislike Enma already. He's too much like Tsuna, and I'm not into typical shotaru like him anyway X"D

I dunno, maybe it's just me, but, imo, it would be a very bad turn to bing 100 back :I Simply because he's pretty much dead ... as for me, that is. I kind of liked him at the beginning of the future arc, but he turned out to be the most ridiculous villain! And that's not really positive, as far as I'm concerned. But hey, I'm just biased *lol*

Just when I thought no one would ever be able to out-fabulous Byakuran, she appears. And you have a point about it being kind of lame if Adelheid turns out to be too much like Hibari. But on the other hand, I can't imagine anyone other than that type who could actually be a real match for him. ...Well, maybe a Mukuro-type, but it's not like we haven't had plenty of those already too. XD

Enma reminds me more of Shouichi than Tsuna, though. A creepier version of Shouichi.

Bringing the dickish TYL!Byakuran back would be a bad idea, and more than a little impossible if what Shou said all those chapters back is true, but I still can't help but hold out hope that we'll at least get to see TYE!Byakuran at some point. If only because all the other villains up to this point have gotten shots at redemption, so it's only fair. Also, I admit I am kind of biased in the other direction, sob. XD I ended up getting kinda fond of the guy, crazy motherfucker that he turned out to be.
