Yes yes yes exactly. *_* Amano seems to understand what all too few shounen mangaka do nowadays, which is that a compelling lead character needs to grow as a person, not just as a badass unstoppable killing machine. And personally, the former is far more interesting to me anyway. Between his humble-yet-determined speech to the Ninth last week and his "I won't forgive whoever did this to Yamamoto, we are GOING TO THE INHERITANCE CEREMONY, FOOLS" resolve this week, I'm just completely blown away by how far he's come since the start of the series. He's a real, honest-to-God leader now, someone I'd genuinely want to follow myself.
