New chapter rambling is a go!

KHR 211 is up at OneManga. :D

1. l-lol Irie. SECRET ABILITY: GODMODE? "Damn it, I can't hide away the research lab! Clearly this means it's time to SIC THE GIANT MUTANT VENUS FLYTRAPS ON THEM." That is just weird, Shou. WEIRD. This entire chapter's strangeness level kind of flew off the charts due to that alone. So, what happened in your favorite manga this week? Oh, you know, same old same old. Giant Mutant Venus Flytraps attacked the protagonist. It's all good.

2. Hibari. If your aim is to win my affections, THIS IS THE RIGHT WAY TO GO ABOUT IT. Making hilarious dot-dot-dot faces on page 6 = good. Being a badass as usual = good. SAVING GOKUDERA (again XD) = goooooooood. Man, who needs insurance when Hibari owes you a debt? It's like having your own personal walking, talking deus ex machina. 8D

3. I just feel the need to express some admiration for Kusakabe here. By my count, at one point the guy is attempting to carry FIVE people. FIVE. That's just manly. And he even manages to keep the little bit of grass in his mouth so as to add to his toughness. HE'S LIKE SOME SORT OF SUPERMAN.

4. Speaking of those five people who are currently unconscious and "can no longer fight", I'm starting to feel more than ever that we may really be in for the long haul in this arc. On the one hand, we seem to be inching ever closer to the mysterious lab and Irie's machine, which hopefully means that at least a few answers will be soon forthcoming... but on the other hand, we're down to two characters who can actually fight (three if you count Lambo, who's still a question mark... and four if you count the remote possibility of Gamma showing up again and changing sides like he was flirting with doing earlier. Not counting I-Pin, and despite my earlier stated admiration for his manliness, I don't actually count Kusakabe either XD), versus almost all of the Millefiore since they've really taken no losses. (Well, that one guy... Baishana, was it? And technically Gamma as well.) And while Tsuna's upgraded, Hibari's also downgraded, so that kind of balances out. NOT TOO SURE ABOUT THEIR CHANCES... it's pretty hard to picture this arc resolving in any way short of disastrous at the moment. A sudden half-time gamechanger seems a lot more likely.

5. I awwed at the end of the chapter when Reborn reminded Tsuna of the charm and Tsuna thought back to what he was fighting for. That was an adorable group pic, and just a sweet moment in general. <3

So... overall, we have cute, hilarious, superman!, and weeeeeeeeird. XD

Oh you know, that one manga-- Hitman Reborn. Yea, the one with mutant venus fly traps and hedgehog blocking tetris! Good times, good times. Hibari's logic amuses me to no end! It's wonderful *A* and seeing him help to carry Gokudera made me squeak! Kusakabe is SUPERMAN! SuperKusakabe! I really think this arc is going to end with a very close call. That or something that will shake us all in regards to Tsuna. Kyoko did tell him not to do anything reckless. It's a bad sign from the start. I hope they all make it through ;v;

Gotta love shounen. We get the pretty boys, the humor and angst, AND all the chaos of a cracky Nintendo puzzle game. XD

Hibarilogic is awesome. It's not even his actions that really crack me up; it's the realization that somehow all of it actually makes sense to him. "I NEED TO SAVE YOU ALL SO THAT I CAN BITE YOU TO DEATH." Oh, and grouping is only okay when you're doing it to pay off a debt. |D

Yeah, come to think, Kyoko's warning does add a bit of an ominous note to the whole thing with the charm. Oi, I hope he's gonna be all right... guess we'll just have to wait and see.

Call me sadistic, but I'm really enjoying how exciting, all-bets-off this arc is. xD I still think traditional shonen standards will pull Our Heroes through, but even so, it's--a thrill? When bazooka'd!Tsuna first showed up in that coffin back in chapter 136 it was like ---! ....ohhhh, dude. This is going to be interesting. Also, grief-stricken older!Gokudera remains one of my favorite things ever in a wrenching sort of way.

Still, that doesn't stop me from being a bit wary. Good luck, guys! D: Do the thing where you survive!

Am I the only person wondering what in the heck the 10-years-older Vongola are doing back in the past???

You've given me the image of Hibari as an insurance salesman, by the way. and it is terrifying.

[identity profile] makeste.livejournal.com 2008-09-28 03:43 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, I definitely agree. What I really love about this arc is that there's so much at stake. Literally their entire future is on the line; if they lose, that's it. They're dead. It just really adds an edge to everything that's going on, even if you do know it's gonna work out in the end.

Am I the only person wondering what in the heck the 10-years-older Vongola are doing back in the past???

NO, especially since that bit a few chapters back where TYL!Hibari let it slip that HE KNEW HE WAS ABOUT TO BE SWITCHED OUT. Really made me wonder what the hell was going on. And there are all sorts of other weird factors to consider, like the fact that the bazooka only sent our!Vongola 9 years and 10 months into the future. Does that mean the TYL!Vongola got sent 9 years and 10 months back, or did they go the full ten years? Or did they even get sent back in time at all? Too many unanswered questions. XD

Oh my God, Hibari as an insurance salesman... XD I just have this image of him doing, like, AllState commercials now. Only I have a feeling he doesn't believe in things like accident forgiveness. XDDDD

I love those situations & I love when they show up when I don't expect them--the stakes just get so very slightly higher in the first few arcs of KHR, but then the future arc just punches you (& them) in the guts without warning. I love seeing how these characters I love so much behave under this kind of pressure...one of the reasons I love manga is that I often find the best executions of high-stake situations in 'em. :) I only feel a little guilty going "Oooh!" when aforementioned characters are in Great Distress. Sorry!

I KNOW. WHAT. WHAAAAAAAAAAT, Hibari. TYL!Hibari does seem to strongly resemble God if God bit people to death, but I hadn't pegged him with omniscience yet. How did he know??? If canon doesn't tell us soon, I'm going to be strongly inclined towards writing TYL!Vongola-in-the-past fanfiction just because of the potential lulz and Yamamoto/Gokudera.

"AllState: Because if you don't purchase it, I'll bite you to death. And you won't be insured for it."

LOL I NOTICED KUSAKABE WITH 2197841 PEOPLE ON HIS BACK, TOO. HE IS NOW THE EPITOME OF MANLINESS.

"Damn it, I can't hide away the research lab! Clearly this means it's time to SIC THE GIANT MUTANT VENUS FLYTRAPS ON THEM."

Clearly, Amano might be either running out of ideas or s/he's just pulling out whatever weird stuff comes to his/her mind. xD

Loved the little 1859 moment!

Seems like a good time for Ryohei to be time switched now...

XD

[identity profile] virescens.livejournal.com 2008-09-28 04:04 am (UTC)(link)
I'm assuming the venus flytraps have to do with the moss Gokudera saw before the Gamma fight. IIRC, it's between all the boxes in the base, and now Tsuna's in its domain so! :D Still, Irie's stomach ulcers must be doing a wonder on him right now.

Kusakabe is so awesome. I couldn't even pick out who was who with everyone on his back there.

Ryohei has yet to be swapped out for his younger self. I'm still counting him in as possible people to fight in the Grandmaster Final Battle. But they really are running out of players here. D:

LOL, GODMODE! XD The venus flytraps were like, "...haha...?"

The 1859 moment in this chapter made me ALMOST as happy was the one in the Kokuyou arc. XD

Manly Kusakabe is manly. :3

we have yet to see Ryohei switched. And maybe Dino and the Varia and the Kokuyou gang will show up :D I can has hope.

Yeah, that pic was a cute group shot XD I loved Ryohei in the back going, "I'M HERE AND WILL BE PART OF THIS SHOT TO THE EXTREME!"

Kusakabe is superman. I was pointing this out in the spanish reborn comm the other day. I mean, come on! FIVE PEOPLE. And Hibari just Gokudera?

Personal deux ex machina = LOOOOOOOOOOOOL SO TRUE.

They have to wake up. I mean, Lal has been unconscious for most of the battle arc, it's about time she wakes up, and Ryohei has to swap in a point too. I dunno, I want to see some more action on how things are gonna end up.

Hibari is made of awesome xD

I'm glad to see Haru, even if it's only one panel :D

3. Kusakabe is like the stereotypical... macho man? 8D RAMBO HAHAHA

LOL I haven't been keeping up, so I just spoiled myself here BUT OH WELL I DON'T MIND SPOILERS. 8Db
