ITP: Shameful tardiness.

Years after everyone on my flist posted their reviews of KHR 254, I am finally posting my own! On the plus side, by being awkwardly and unfashionably late, I did get to avoid the use of the much-maligned INP scanlation (aka the one that introduced the mysterious new character "Yuni"), and read the shiny I Eat Manga scanlation instead.

It was a mistranslation! Gosh darn it, I should have known! :O

Anyway.

1. Oh my God would you look at this girl. Just look at her! That smile could create rainbow puppies out of thin air, patch up the hole in the ozone layer, and cure cancer. HOW IS IT POSSIBLE TO BE THAT CUTE.

DAMN YOU AMANO can we never win?? Always with you it's either jailbait (YAMAMOTO WHYYY) or attractive men who turn out to be OLD ENOUGH TO HAVE FRIENDS WITH LOLI GRANDCHILDREN. JUST ONCE CAN'T YOU LET US DREAM?

Okay, so apparently Reborn and the other Arcobaleno may be significantly older than we previously thought. But does this mean they were that old before they were babyfied, or that said babyfication took place longer ago than we expected? (I still think it would be awesome if they turned out to be immortal guardians of the 7^3 pacifier ores or something.) Amano had better tell us more about this curse soon.

Oh my God look at that, she took out four Vongola guardians AND the boss in one hit. (Even Lambo! SHE EVEN MADE THE OBLIVIOUS SIX-YEAR-OLD BLUSH.) I'm telling you, don't underestimate that adorability factor. Byakuran, I can see why you resorted to drastic measures.

(Incidentally, I love Haru's reaction. Of all the crazy things that have been going on, this is what prompts an outburst, orz.)

Okay. Putting aside the profoundly disturbing revelation that Byakuran took a small child alone with him into a room with no windows and gave her drugs, this sentence at long last confirms something FAR MORE IMPORTANT.

Namely, BRAINWASHING!1

You guys, I'm so happy Byakuran really is as much of a dick as I've always believed. ;_;

...So Byakuran warped Uni's mind with drugs, and Uni saved herself by letting her soul fly off into another world. WTH is this manga.

Also: How exactly did that work? So that means that there was some Uni walking around in another universe with two souls? That must have been wild. And possibly sort of creepy for the Uni that wound up getting invaded. (I have this mental image now of her looking in a mirror a la a horror movie, and then walking off somewhere but her reflection just stays put, smiling that adorable smile of hers. Seriously, that's just weird.)

FUCK YEESSS TAKE THAT, BYAKURAN. TAKE THAT! GIGLIO NERO GONNA DO OUR OWN THING, WHAT.

WHERE the hell is Gamma already. Get over here, boy, it's your time now!

7. OHO, Byakuran, I bet you weren't counting on Uni secretly being A KLEPTOMANIAC! CHECK YOUR POCKETS, I BET YOUR WALLET IS MISSING TOO.

Incidentally, I would just like to say that every time Byakuran makes a WTF face, a kitten comes back to life. (On the other hand, every time he makes a face like this, a part of my soul dies a terrified death.)

OH MY GOD TSUNA GROW A PAIR WOULD YOU REALLY HAVE JUST STOOD THERE AND LET HIM RAPIFY HER? WHERE IS YOUR SENSE OF SHOUNEN JUSTICE AND MAIN CHARACTER PRIDE??

Actually, I love that his first reaction was every bit as WTF as I would have been in that situation. XD Kyoko's like, "AHGH DO SOMETHING" and he's like, "ARE YOU INSANE DO YOU NOT SEE THAT CRAZY RAPIST FACE HE IS MAKING, OMG THOSE EYES!!"

9. Reborn, on the other hand... well, let's just say that the amount of badass in this one page is off the freaking charts. 8D

Dear God: Please let Reborn fight someone soon. I have had a taste of greatness, and found it to my liking.

Also, "the strongest of the Arcobaleno"? So is this finally confirmed, then? Awesome.

This chapter won the universe. But whatever chapters have Kikyo getting the crap beating out of him will too win.

Well, what with there being infinite universes and all, there should still be plenty more to be won. I'm very much looking forward to Kikyo's inevitable downfall. :DDD

He does need to show up, after all he and his guys were like what hiding back a dozen chapters ago? XD HE NEEDS TO KNOW THAT UNI IS OKAY. ;______;

Oh I most certainly hope so. Amano is likely to throw some massive at us too but as long as he goes down by the hands of Squalo and Hibari, I will truly be pleased. ~~And maybe some pissed off Gamma giving a piece of his mind at Byakuran ahahahah~~

At this point, it almost looks like Byakuran will end up being that once-in-a-million shounen villain who is actually never redeemed, and I sure hope so. IT'S SO REFRESHING TO HAVE A VILLAIN I CAN LOVE TO HATE. Without him, all I'd have left is Kikyo. :(

EXACTLY. If Uni's there, Gamma should be there, period. I THOUGHT IT WAS CLEARLY ESTABLISHED THAT HIS LOYALTY TO HER IS ON GOKUDERA-CRAZY LEVELS. Plz to be reuniting him with his princess, Amano.

With a setup like this, I feel there is very little that could possibly go wrong, so bring it on, I say. /o/ ~~lol, agreed.~~

As far as number 2 goes, they can't be that old. Consider how everyone looks and the equipment they have on them when we saw that Lal Mirch scene. Reborn had a pretty classy gun and Skull helmet was modern as well.

But Luce's going to be in episode 248, so maybe we'll get some insight.

GOOD POINT. But then again, the mafia seems to have access to more advanced technology than the general public, so it's possible Reborn and Skull were sporting equipment that was ahead of its time. I don't know, as usual Amano has gone and made things confusing. XD

Can't wait for that. At this point, I don't care whether it's the anime or the manga that gives answers--I just want answers.

As usual, the comments are the same ones in my head but so awesome written like this. ^^v

Haha, I just love to blab every random thought that pops into my head. XDDD I LOVE THIS MANGA SO MUCH.

BTW when I said INP's translation was good, I mostly just meant "It's actually readable without straining your brain too much, and it actually makes sense." That said, I'm glad cnet128 is back for FH and IEM. ^^;

INP's head honchos have this way to them (are you done? are you done? are you done? please say you're done? are you done?) that do NOT foster loyalty in its ranks, according to someone who got into INP just to make them stop releasing those horribly unreadable Chinese-release-based translations (back around the motorcycle chapters if I'm not mistaken?). That person has quit since then.

Yeah, I mean, I do appreciate that they bother to translate/scanlate at all (I'll never not be grateful for anyone who does that; I know how hard it is XD), and it's definitely nice that they're so fast. But there's definitely a sharp difference in quality when you compare their scanlations to scanlations done by IEM and even FH. It's like that for any speed-scanlation, I suppose. In my experience, most of them either gradually slow down and start putting out more high-quality translations, or eventually stop altogether. I hope INP ends up being one of the former.

1. Uni is F-ing adorable to the max.

2. I agree, why does Amano do this to us?!?! The speculations of the arcobaleno's age is endless although I like the idea of them being immortal, it would make understanding everything so much easier.

4. I third that statement about Byakuran being a dick. He really is a heartles sugarloving bastard. THe best ending to all of this is if he chocked on a marshmellow that Tsuna shoved down his throat.

5. I really don't understand that power either although the visiual that you describe is really interesting and creepy all at once.

9. There just has to be an epic fight scene with Reborn. You can't show us something like that and then just never follow it up. It's forbidden!!!

I HAD TO, there was just no way I could even take INP's scanlation (much as I do appreciate their hard work) seriously. XD AND I HAVE ENOUGH TROUBLE TAKING THIS MANGA SERIOUSLY AS IT IS.

2. Hopefully either the anime or manga will get to explanations before too much longer. At this point, it's pretty much the only mystery left in this arc.

4. THe best ending to all of this is if he chocked on a marshmellow that Tsuna shoved down his throat.

3. LOL, I dunno, I think Lambo looks kind of "bzuh who is this woman", AND HE'S BLUSHING TOO, YOU CAN SEE IT A LITTLE ON HIS CHEEK THERE. And Gokudera is just like, "UH. I'M JUST GONNA BE LOOKING OVER HERE NOW BLUSHBLUSHBLUSH." It's appropriate for their personalities. XD

4. I'd even go one step further and make it blinky capslock italic text: PEDO. He is terrifying.

NEXT CHAPTER NEEDS TO BE AN EPIC BATTLE FOR UNI...AND REBORN. NEEDS TO GET IN ON THE ACTION.

Also, needs more Arcobaleno backstory, and by that I mean more sexy Reborn. ;D

Basically, the next chapter just needs as much of Reborn as possible. <3 In between Hibari and Squalo turning Kikyo into a bloody pulp. I DON'T THINK I COULD ASK FOR MORE.

REBORN NEEDS TO BLOW A HOLE THROUGH BYAKURAN'S FACE I mean what 8) BUT YES, Hibari and Squalo need to be kicking the crap out of each other while kicking the crap out of Kikyo. Then my life would be COMPLETE.

Of course, this just goes to show why it's a good thing that I'm not actually dictating the course of this manga, because I am way too easily satisfied. XD

I don't know that it's possible for anyone to be as creative as Amano is; I mean, I'd give it a go, but there's only so much one can do without the aid of whatever the hell drug it is that all shounen mangaka seem to be required to use. Shounen crack.

And then back to the daily arc we go! I say it needs an epilogue showing BADASS OLD TSUNA with his harem of hot chicks or something. XD

Shounen crack, some kind of widely distributed drug. But hey, at least it's not on a downhill like some are. Take Bleach for example. There's a point in the manga where you KNOW Tite Kubo has run out of his crack supply and just DOES NOT WANT TO CONTINUE. XD

Haha best epilogue ever. Except I'd also want like, a shot of the Vongola guardians wearing suits and sunglasses and walking away from a building which then explodes in slow motion behind them. Just because.

YEAH maybe not Mukuro, but WHERE IS THE LAST ONE? I think that would make the ring battle invalid since the rules were that all of the guardians had to be present, and Byakuran was clearly missing one. XD SERIOUSLY. As for Mukuro... I have no idea.

It did, and then the Hueco Mundo arc started. XD

Was he like the one who was imprisoned in a Vendicare fishtank a la Mukuro? Maybe that's why he's not there. I need to go back and look at the chapter where Byakuran first talks about the real wreaths again. But you'd think it would have been mentioned before now; did none of the Vongola notice? TSUNA YOUR GUARDIANS ARE SO UNOBSERVANT. XD

I hate it when a manga reaches the point where the mangaka seems to just be continuing it for the sake of continuing it, and without any clear idea of where he/she wants to take the story next. I REALLY HOPE THAT DOESN'T HAPPEN WITH KHR (much as I'll be sad if/when it does end).

OHOHO SAME. AND I ALREADY TOOK TWO SHOWERS TODAY.

Yeah it was the one in the fishtank, but it was still...against the rules. You'd THINK Tsuna or Gokudera would notice, but they didn't. XD And I'm there wondering WHAT is going on ahaha

YEAH I hope it doesn't happen with KHR either. It'll probably come to a close after this whole conflict, unless she SOMEHOW comes up with a way to draw it out but that would be like beating a dead horse, as sad as we'd all be to not have any KHR updates to read sob.

DAMN GOKUDERA AND HIS CASUAL SEXINESS ON MOTORCYCLES.

Especially since Byakuran made such a big deal about the whole "ALL THE GUARDIANS BETTER SHOW UP OR YOU FORFEIT!" thing. I guess they were too busy worrying about their own MIA guardians to notice the BLATANT HYPOCRISY, lol. (I didn't notice either, but then again, I was speedreading the chapters to catch up at the time.) Well, considering all of the epic intros that have been happening lately, maybe his is finally coming up too.

This arc has turned out to be so epic I almost can't see how she could possibly follow it up, but there is still plenty of room to play in the universe if she decides, so I don't know. It depends on whether she can come up with something as well-planned-out as all of this; if she decides to take a make-it-up-as-I-go approach, I'd rather she did stop when the Future Arc ends, even though I would cling to those last few chapters kicking and screaming. XD

YES. Gokudera's butt was made for a motorcycle seat. And leather pants.

Yeah, that was probably the case. And the fact that they have a huge showdown with the big baddy of the series, SO. (I kept counting and recounting the number in the chapter where they show up in their new uniforms. And wondering if this was going to come into play later XD). KHR needs more epic intros. Mukuro better appear in a puff of smoke and rainbows.

I think the only way I wouldn't complain is if she just did fillers for the REST OF HER DAYS. Just crackly little chapters in the future AHAHA. OH, don't forget an arcobaleno arc, which they're doing in the anime but KIND OF needs to happen in the manga because it's important. That might happen toward the end because SHE PROMISED US.

When Uni was going on about storing her feelings away with somebody else, I was really expecting Gamma to step dramatically out of the shadows. WE NEED YOU GAMMA. YOU NEED TO COMPLETE THE AWESOMENESS. <33

I second the fact that Byakuran is a dick. Finally a villian that actually deserves our hatred. ): He stole the heart of an adorable little girl and tried to brainwash her. He is so ... evil!

I know, every week I keep expecting Gamma to appear, and every week I invariably end up disappointed. It's just about the only thing about the manga lately that has disappointed me. (She had better be building up to one hell of an epic entrance.)

Dear God yes. So much so that I find myself kind of quickly glancing over any panel with him making a rapey face, because if I look at it for too long I end up scaring myself. XD

I know, I hate him so much and yet at the same time it's incredibly refreshing. FIGHT ON YOU EVIL MAN YOU, AND I HOPE THE VONGOLA KICK YOUR ASS.

I need a Byakuran is a dick tag too. WHY DON'T I HAVE A BYAKURAN IS A DICK TAG. Because he is. A dick. AND I LOVE HIM.

I've hated Byakuran from the beginning, I have not even once thought of him as a good guy, and nothing could make me happier than seeing him getting a kick in the nuts from Gokudera ~~because Byakuran deserves the kick and Gokudera needs to do something badass soon or I will be severely disappointed~~.

Also: I was wondering what the hell was up with the Yuni deal. I was like: Yuni? Who's that?

He is just such an amazing dick it boggles the mind. But I kind of love him for it. While hating him at the same time. IT IS COMPLICATED but needless to say I would have NO OBJECTIONS to watching the aforementioned nut-kicking.

It was pretty obviously a mistranslation, but a weird one. XD (I mean, even I can read the furigana for her name properly.)

He is one of the biggest dicks with the biggest smile I've come across lately. XD Nut-kicking would be awesome. ~~I almost want to write it.~~
