Which words do you use too much in your writing?

Any and all adverbs, certain swear words (I kinda feel like I've been swearing more than I used to lately; if anyone's bothered by it, please let me know XD), words like "awesome", "amazing", and "I love..." (mostly this applies to fangirling), and awkward time-is-passing descriptions like "a moment later", "after a pause", and so forth. Also, the XD emoticon. Like, to the extent where saying I use it "too much" is like saying Transformers 2 was "disappointing."

Which ideas do you consider overused in stuff you read?

I can't think of much, actually, at least not fandom-wise; then again, I make an effort to avoid the things I consider to be cliches, so. I dunno. The only one I can think of is genderswitching. I'm sure there are more (lord knows I overuse certain ideas in my own writing), but nothing's coming to mind.

What's your favourite piece of writing by you?

Keeping in mind the difference between best and favorite, I'm going to have to be honest and go with Tournament of Spring. It's one of the only fics of mine I can go back and reread without wincing, because at least humor fics are supposed to be dumb. XD

What blog post do you wish you'd written?

I don't even have to think about this one.

More like there are things I wish I had written; too many times I'll start a fic and then never finish. *kicks self*

...well, okay, I also have serious remorse about not writing In Retrospect sooner/differently/for something other than KHR Undercover. That's the first and only time writing a fanfic has led to literal forehead-smacking on my part. I mean, I know it was unavoidable, but still. COME ON. So much fail.

How has your writing made a difference? What do you consider your most important piece of writing?

Back when I was in the Naruto fandom, I used to write random essays every so often (usually defending my favorite characters), several of which were surprisingly well-received; I'd see people linking to them as references in debates (oh God, the Naruto fandom and its debates...) months and sometimes even years after the fact, which was kind of cool.

But aside from little fandom things like that, I don't think I've ever really written anything that's made much of an impact anywhere. XD At least, not yet.

Broken, actually, smile (that last just irks me because there aren't enough synonyms for it. I HATE HAVING TO OVERUSE A WORD.)

Do you have a writing mentor, role model or inspiration?

To be perfectly honest, the writer I most want to be like is J.K. Rowling. The way she does characterization, the way she writes prose that's smooth and easy to read but still good (and if it's still a far cry from perfect, well, what isn't), the way she managed to create a story/world that resonated with millions of people--that is everything I've ever wanted to do with my own writing.

What's your writing ambition?

See above. I don't care if I end up being successful or not; I just want to write a story that I can really love and have fun with, and that sticks with someone, somewhere for a while afterward.

You know I'll jump ontop of the Yamamoto/Wall Day. BUt if we do it, it'll be something like 80W which could translate to the first wednesday of August (which past already T_T). Oooooooooooooooooooor we could switch it to W80 (because lets face it, Wall tops Yamamoto any day) and then we would have to have it on the eighth day of some month remensisant of a wall....I might need some help thinking about that XD

I love J.K. Rowling's style, it reads and sounds so smooth and effortless all while being really simple. Her writing is very human I feel. And her characterization is gorgeous!!!

I'd be more inclined to like... just pick some completely random day. Or maybe just find out when Genkishi's birthday is and celebrate it then in his honor (RIP POOR GENKISHI AND HIS CRAZY EYEBROWS). I just feel like putting actual thought into it would almost defeat the spirit of the holiday somehow. :P

Oh yes, exactly. I know there are people who bash it and hate on the last few books especially, but I've always loved her style.

Ooh, angsty Yamamoto fic--now that you mention it... *_* But the word "broken" just bugs me because it crops up so often in angstfic; whenever I see it I can't help but mentally cringe.

It makes it so damn hard to write characters like Byakuran or Yamamoto... I end up dancing in circles whenever I describe him because THEY'RE ALWAYS SMILING but IT'S SO REDUNDANT. XD

I was wondering where the fanday came from, too. Although I suspect it's just the pineapple fangirls needing some, any, kind of release after so so so so long. I think when Yama ~~rose from the dead~~ talked again after way too many chapters there was a surge of fan things too.

Well, if it was planned ahead (which I assumed it must have been), that's some amazing timing on their part. XD I can't blame them; if Gokudera disappeared for two years I'd go pretty crazy with fan stuff when he returned too. XD I WOULD THROW A GODDAMN GOKUDERA PARTY. ON THE INTERNET.
