One of these days, there will be a new KHR chapter without a color page.

And on that day I will be like, "What is this bullshit?" You have turned me into a spoiled child, Amano. A happy, selfish, spoiled child.

1. BYAKURAN WHERE ARE YOU LOOKING?? EYES DOWN OVER THERE PLEASE. Man, Uni, you sort of picked a bad time to start doing that floating Sailor Moon weirdness. Maybe next time wait until Byakuran and Tsuna's giant disembodied heads are elsewhere.

But at least it's not Chrome and her inadequate skirt.

2. Hey. HEY. Back off, Kikyo, all right? He didn't BOTHER defeating Torikabuto because saving Shouichi from CERTAIN DEATH was a little more important at the time, okay? Yeesh.

Also, I cracked up so hard at INP's version of this page. Kikyo and Bluebell are so stoned. "NO WAY!" "WHEN DID HE!" Oh, you guys.

3. Euuuurgh every time they do this I die a little inside. XD I DIDN'T NEED TO SEE TORI'S SHADOWY DEMON CHEST WITH HIS STUPID BOX GROWING OUT OF HIS PECS. Hopefully after this Amano will realize that it is not necessary to give us a close-up EVERY TIME, and will refrain from doing so again until it is Zakuro's turn. When it's Zakuro's turn I won't mind so much.

And I awwwed at Gamma being all protective of Uni in the lower left panel. I'll remember this moment of sweetness when I'm being traumatized by the next page.

4. WAAUGH WAUUUUUUUGHHHH WHY IS HE A GIANT MOTH. SOB. HARU I AM SO WITH YOU ON THIS ONE.

Oh my God, and he looks even grosser in the bottom middle panel when he's all tiny and looks disturbingly similar to an actual moth. Even Hyper Dying Will Tsuna is freaking out a bit. Granted it's because the illusion is doing weird things, BUT STILL. Part of it has also got to be the moth, because JUST LOOK AT IT.

5. But proving once again that everything has its upside, this is the funniest page ever. XD "I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT'S GOING ON!" LOL. And Lambo floating there in the corner: "ROUND AND ROUND O_O." And Reborn balancing on Fuuta's head. And Gamma swearing. And Tsuna and Nuts hovering there like, "HMM, THIS ISN'T GOOD. >_>" Tori, as gross as your power is, you still get points for creating some damned entertaining chaos.

6. And also for finally giving Chrome the chance to DO SOMETHING AWESOME. 8D

AND LOOK, IT'S THE FIRST MIST GUARDIAN WHEEEEE. Who interestingly enough does NOT look like an exact clone of Mukuro, just an almost exact clone. XD AND HE WAS A MASS MURDERER AND "A TRAITOR THROUGH AND THROUGH", APPARENTLY. Apparently Primo wasn't completely infallible, if he had a guy like that on his team. Either that or he just didn't care, but from the way Reborn was talking about it, it sounds like something interesting went down. I want a prequel spinoff novel or something about the original Vongola once they're finally all revealed. ANIME FILLER PEOPLE, GET ON THIS.

Also, I feel obligated to point out that Chrome's Vongola box weapon? X-RAY SPECS. With the exception of Yamamoto, who somehow lucked out and got lightsabers, it seems like the Vongola weapons are getting more and more ridiculous. Glasses, handcuffs, and A CAPE. THAT FIRST GENERATION WAS ON CRACK OR SOMETHING.

Was Gokudera's box weapon really just an upgrade for the C.A.I.? Are we sure it doesn't transform back into a lamp or a teacup or something else that makes no amount of sense? I really can't wait to see Lambo and Ryohei's weapons now. XD

7. IS REBORN RIDING BASIL'S DOLPHIN, DID THAT REALLY JUST HAPPEN??

Also, "The Vongola family's strength has nothing to do with numbers. It's all in the connecting form." Yay shounen teamwork~ |D AND RYOHEI'S STEPPIN' UP TO THE PLATE, AWESOME. And is it just me or does Gokudera look PROUD even as he's complaining about Ryohei overdoing it? It's not just me, right? That's totally not an annoyed look, he's smirking for God's sake. ARE YOU PROUD OF YOUR DUMBTARDED PROTÉGÉ, DERA?

8. GOD NO I SAID I DIDN'T WANT TO SEE ANYMORE SOB SOB--!! Thank God, Kikyo, you did something good for once. And of course Bluebell tries to throw another tantrum, but what are you gonna do. THE ALTERNATIVE WAS TO FIGHT A KANGAROO. And also get blown up.

Yeah, that was... um. What just... happened there...? THE X-BURNER TURNED TORIKABUTO INTO A SHRIVELED MUMMY CORPSE?

Also, suddenly in the aftermath everyone is beat up. ?? Is that just the damage from Tori's illusion attack? Or from the rebound of Tsuna's X-Burner? Or is Gokudera just KOed because he saw more of Bluebell than he ever in his life wanted to see? Seriously, though, that was pretty abrupt (though I guess I should be grateful for that much; better abrupt than long and drawn-out in the usual shounen fashion).

9. I wish Amano would stop retconning this stuff. Now Byakuran's saying that Daisy and Torikabuto were the weakest of the six Funeral Wreaths and that the other four are in a totally different class. But isn't that the same thing he said back when he introduced the real FWs? That they were all way more powerful than the original guys? And the Vongola have already taken out two of them just like that, so I'm not sure I buy into this. Zakuro was bad, granted, but THEY CAN STILL TAKE YOU GUYS ON, DAMMIT.

Also of some importance--what happened to Torikabuto's Mare Ring? We saw Hibari confiscate Daisy's ring, but I couldn't quite make out if Kikyo snagged Tori's or not. It looked like he just took the mask, but that would have been kind of dumb, so.

...And come to think, am I crazy, or did Tsuna just kill a guy? There was such a lack of fuss over it that it almost slipped my mind. Maybe they figure a creep like Torikabuto doesn't count. XD

10. Lastly, FINAL FUNERAL WREATH GET. HOOOOOSHIT. AND HE HAS WHITE HAIR LIKE BYAKURAN'S AND THE SAME MARK EXCEPT HIS IS UNDER HIS RIGHT EYE. I bet you anything they're brothers. I AM OFFICIALLY INTRIGUED. :D

And did anyone else see that adorable Chibi Halloween comic that was apparently in Jump (ETA: V-Jump,

ekmisao informs me) this week? I have half a mind to scanlate that thing with my own nonsense translation. It is too cute for words. XD

Also... ...because it's like Bel and Jill! Byakuran got the better of him and locked him away.

"TIME FOR PLAN B." Though Mukuro being evil again would have been kickass. But I guess it'd have undone too much of his character development, blah blah. XD

I have my doubts she planned as far ahead as to have all of the original FWs worked out ahead of time, but if Ghost does turn out to have some deep connection with Byakuran (which, I'd be shocked if he doesn't XD), I wouldn't put it past her to have given his character a bit of thought, at least. Or who knows, maybe she really did just make him up at the last minute.

Lol, that was the first thing I thought. But I hope it's not actually like that; we don't need a rehash of that same thing all over again.

Kaibutsu Tsugai Tsuna (Monster Tamer Tsuna) is the comic in the last link, it's in V-Jump, not Weekly Shonen Jump. I expect this to be animated eventually. ^^v Gokudera was so adorable.

I have a feeling Amano is partly winging this stuff, that she thought more about the Arcobaleno than these Primo people.

Ah, okay then. WELL IT WAS ONE OF THE JUMPS, ANYWAY. XD I hope it is animated someday; I will derive endless entertainment from it when that day comes.

Yeah, she's definitely making some of this up on the fly. Still, I expect her to fill in the rest of the blanks about Primo's generation before too long. What with her creating more and more direct connections between Tsuna's guardians and the original Vongola, she's going to have to figure it all out if she hasn't already.

It should be in the next few weeks, I hope. There were three promised episodes minimum. The first episode chopped the first comic in half, so I guess the third one should have Ryohei.

I also hope they do animated versions of the Lussuria interviews, lol. That should be fun.

As I've said before Amano is doing this part CLAMP-style, where she has an overall plan but is winging it every week depending on feedback, and part Saiyuki-style (where Minekura admits to dreaming it up as it occurs to her). As something of a writer I can definitely see how Verde was just a name back in the early days, and eventually she filled out the blanks and made a character. How Gokudera was first just a rebel without a cause who found one in Tsuna, and eventually got his backstory as a bastard child. How that, since she started the similarity of Tsuna with the Primo, she better follow it up and link everyone else to the Primo.

I also have a hunch that Reborn and Gintama (and Bleach?) have been given a non-immediate deadline, or that the authors have given word that they already want to finish, so Amano is tying up loose threads slowly, and the series will be leaving by 2010. 5 years is a good respectable length, with enough honor to it already.

Yeah, there was definitely a lot of making-it-up-as-she-goes in the early arcs at the very least. It seems to me like she's slowed down and planned a little more for the future arc, though; she seems to have more of an idea where she's headed now plot-wise; a lot of the major twists, like Shou being a double agent, were set up beautifully right from the start. But she still seems to be making up a lot of the side elements on the fly, like the box weapons, for instance. I think she's honestly just brainstorming those as she writes (it would explain the randomness XD). And she definitely seems to be fleshing out some of the Funeral Wreaths as she goes, though with some of the other characters (Kawahira comes to mind), she seems to have more of a plan. At any rate, I think she's doing a pretty good job of balancing it all out overall.

...baww I hope it's not actually ending in 2010. On the one hand, I'd hate to see it start dragging on like so many SJ titles before it, but on the other, I don't want it to end yet, sob. XD

Futa is totally looking up Chrome's skirt. Also, check out the hairstyle for the First Mist Guardian. The hairline is the same as Mukuro and Chrome, and he has two~~
Also, I think that this is why Tsunas has two Mists, while Chrome is loyal to him Mukuro can go backstabbing. /o/

You made me spit at my screen 8| (which is awesome XD) at the teacup. Either Lambo has something wicked cool or something cracktastic.

And they are beat up for the explosion in the previous chapter. While Gokudera did manage to use Sistema CAI it wasn't a complete protection.

Haha, I can't believe I didn't notice that. XDD "CHROME-SAN! I can see... uh... never mind." And lol, yeah, Misty the First has the same giant forehead as Mukuro. But two parts instead of just the one, and no pineapple 'do, which apparently makes all the difference. And yeah, Chrome is definitely there to keep Mukuro in line; gotta make sure he doesn't go back to being a dick, after all. :P

I would have loved it if out of all the guardians, Lambo was the only one to get a weapon that was actually a weapon, like his bull transforms into a freaking tank or something. XD But Yamamoto already ruined that dream what with his also having weapons that actually are weapons. OH WELL, I CAN STILL HOPE FOR THAT TANK ANYWAY.

Are they? It's just that they seemd all right in this chapter up until the aftermath of the fight when suddenly they were all wiped out. Ryohei was FIRED UP AND READY TO GO, and then all of a sudden Tsuna was half-carrying him. I guess the adrenaline died or something. XD

Winging and retconning are, I think, sort of essential elements of shonen genre... I've never seen one shonen manga NOT doing it. Well, part of the fun is watching how mangakas make sense of them later--or spectacularly fail to XD

Nitpicking is entertaining, no doubt about that. When I read a manga I enjoy loling at the fail parts just as much as I like fangirling over the awesome parts. IT'S THE COMPLETE PACKAGE.

And you know, I get the impression that Torikabuto wasn't ever actually there. :x I MEAN MAYBE I'M JUST TAKING IT TOO LITERALLY but Kikyo did call the "corpse" a "lifeless figure" and it's all covered in those fancy magic writings and apparently had a mask that kept him "alive" or... something... so maybe it is literal?

IF IT IS BYAKURAN FROM ANOTHER TIMELINE THAT WOULD BE THE COOLEST THING EVER. AND THE MARK IS UNDER THE WRONG EYE SO IT TOTALLY FITS THE "MIRROR" THEME. DO WANT DO WANT. :O

The only reasons I think it must have been the real Tori are because a) he had the box weapon that I'm still uncomfortable thinking about (*SHUDDER*), and b) Kikyo and Bluebell reported to Byakuran afterward that Torikabuto had been killed. I don't think they'd have done that if the real Tori was still hiding out somewhere. Of course, it's always possible that they didn't know about it, but I can't see Byakuran not being aware of it at the very least. He seems to have done his research before picking out his Funeral Wreaths.

I do like the idea of him secretly being Ginger, though. I WONDER WHAT HAPPENED TO HIM TOO. He spent all that time traumatizing Lal and rubbing it in that he fucking killed Colonnello, and then he just vanished. WHAT GIVES.

6. The original mist guardian has unusual parts in his hair, though lmao. I want a spinoff about the original Vongola, too. Their weapons are too funny.

Heh, for me, Chrome's glasses and the first mist guardian were what sold it. That and Ghost. I liked it, but then again I can't remember the last time I didn't love a KHR chapter, so clearly my wiring is mixed up somewhere. (Powered by EXTREME LOVE BIAS!!)

I WONDERED THAT TOO OMG. I'm convinced the insert-box-in-chest thing is another one of those ideas Amano just came up with on the fly. WHOOPS. ~~And lol, so did I, but I really didn't want to think about it. XD~~

I find it ridiculous that the one character without two eyes gets a pair of glasses as her new super special awesome weapon (TM). But it is kind of funny at the same time. xD And I just realized that she should lack depth perception, she only has one eye after all, and for that, you need two. HM.

It HAS to be! Couldn't it have been on the side of her hip or something at least? ~~But we ALL know where it was really located... maybe she can move it? xD~~

Lol, well here at least it didn't look like they were really glasses in the traditional sense. It looked like the lenses were hovering in front of her one good eye? But it was hard to tell (that panel almost lacks depth perception XD).

I guess we just have to assume she didn't have the box... IMPLANTED at the time we saw her last. FOR OUR SANITY WE MUST BELIEVE THIS.

To me, it looks like the far off lens is floating in front of her good eye, and the other two are kind of floating by her left ear... which is even more ridiculous. WHAT USE ARE THEY TO HER EAR? xD

I still say her real box is in a... special place, the one on her chest was faked there later (it is a copy of the original and an extra port that sends signals to the original *nods*) because Byakuran didn't want everyone to know what a dickish pedo rapist he is. TOO BAD WE ALREADY KNOW, DICKURAN! XDDD

There's no way a comment like that is going to go unexplained; I'm sure we'll find out some more about Misty the First at some point down the line. And it made me wonder if it was hinting about Mukuro too, but I guess it would undo too much of his character development for him to go baddie again. (But then again, who knows? He's still being mysterious lately; we never did find out who his so-called accomplice is/was.)

Yeah, Zakuro did maim Squalo pretty nicely, but he also had the benefit of knowing all his tricks thanks to Byakuran's CHEATING POWER THAT CHEATS, so it doesn't necessarily mean that the Vongola kids are screwed. The only thing that's really troubling is the fact that none of them sensed Zakuro's dying will flame TRYING TO KILL THEM or whatever, and Squalo was the only one who could defend against it. They need to work on that, at least. BUT I HAVE HOPE.
