Wait what there's a chapter out on Wednesday.

That's like a record for IEM. They must have been tripping over themselves in the rush to scanlate this. XD

1. Ooh, nice. When Amano skips the standard color page in favor of jumping right in and there are already this many speech bubbles happening, you know it's going to be a talky chapter, which is my favorite kind (not to mention hella refreshing after all of that shounen hoopla toward the end of the Byakuran fight). So here we go--time to see if we can wrap up all of the lingering loose ends in less than seventeen pages.

LOOSE END #1: Why didn't they jump forward the full ten years? Well, friends, it looks like we finally have the answer; the 7^3 was messin' around with space-time. Thanks for that, Verde you smug, smug fellow. Seems like we're off to a good start!

2. LOOSE END #2: FAREWELLS. And the first one doesn't disappoint. Man, it's good to see Yamamoto being Yamamoto again. Really good. Just looking at him standing there infuriating Squalo with his |D face makes me very, very happy. And he sure didn't quit baseball for very long, did he? I suppose it would take an intervention or something for him to actually go cold turkey. XD

P.S. is it just me or is Squalo not wearing a shirt. (ETA: Nope, I'm just blind... or I am only seeing what I want to see.) How not-at-all-homosexual of him. And there he goes, vanishing into thin air. See you, TYL!Squalo. And say goodbye to your flying shark for me also.

3. LOOSE END #3: RYOHEI'S GIRLFRIEND! WAIT SINCE WHEN DID HE HAVE A GIRLFRIEND?? Clearly someone (ME) has not been paying attention...?!! And my God, but his face is entertaining.

And I'm glad they mentioned Hana, even if was just a brief aside. She pretty much saved Kyoko's life way back at the beginning of the arc, so it's good that Kyoko left her a letter presumably thanking her and letting her know everything turned out well. IT'S THE POLITE THING TO DO.

4. LOOSE END #4: RESIDUAL ANIMOSITY BETWEEN M.M. AND CHROME. So is M.M. just lying through her teeth or is she bitter that Chrome is clearly much better bffs with Mukuro than she could ever be, or does this warning actually have any factual basis to sit upon? Because from everything I've seen of TYL!Mukuro, he is a total Good Guy, and no amount of "BUT I'M STILL GOING TO TAKE OVER TSUNA'S BODY, AND TOMORROW, THE WORLD!!!" will ever convince me otherwise. And the little we saw of TYE!Mukuro back during the Varia Arc (DECADES AGO) was much the same.

...Yeah, somehow, I just don't see it. Yes, he's totally just using her. That's why he's radiating about as much affection as I've ever seen on his deadpan little face ever. Sure. :P

Side note: I love that Hibari and Kusakabe's farewell took all of three panels, and Kyoya didn't even bother to say anything. XD HE DOES NOT CARE.

And I see my baby boy is playing hide and seek with his big sis just like the good old days, which brings me to...

5. LOOSE END #5 (THE MOST IMPORTANT ONE): BIANCHI HAS SOMETHING TO TELL YOU, LITTLE BRO.

Oh my Jesus what is happening. GOKUPAPA WASN'T ACTUALLY A TERRIBLE PERSON (well, to be honest the possibility had occurred to me, but I hoped it wouldn't prove the case because I preferred the explanation with maximum angst XD)? AND HIS MOM REFUSED TO MARRY HIM BECAUSE SHE WAS SICK. OH MY GOD. WORLD IS SHATTERING. HIS ENTIRE ANGSTY PAST TORN TO SHREDS IN A MATTER OF SECONDS. That's a hell of a lot to take in.

I'm not sure whether or not to be pleased; on the one hand, there go like a zillion fanfic canons (this is even worse than that time when Shou turned out to not be evil), but on the other hand... well, I can't not be glad for him. AND YET I'm still a little saddened at the same time because in spite of this new revelation, between poison cookies, crappy role models/mentors, and (I'm going to assume) really neglectful caretakers (no matter what he overhears, an eight-year-old boy isn't just going to up and run away one day unless there are a hell of a lot of other issues going on. I can't help but wonder how Bianchi's mother treated him, considering his father's affair...), not to mention GROWING UP ALONE ON THE STREETS (and if his father really gave a shit then why didn't he ever track him down? He can't have been hard to find), he still had a really crappy childhood. The fact that his dad didn't murder his mom after all hardly wraps everything up in a neat little package. And yet, it is a start.

As an aside, I really hope his mom's illness isn't the kind of thing that runs in the family. All the more reason to stop smoking, kiddo. XD

6. Since we're on the subject of death--brb, dying. XDDDD

Okay, between the revelation about his parents and the off-the-charts hilarity of that top right panel, this chapter is easily my favorite for Gokudera since he got all Robin Hood on us back in 266, and maybe even beyond that. Seriously, that is the greatest panel in history. I almost don't even care what's on the rest of this page, or even the rest of this chapter for that matter. ~~THAT IS A LIE, BUT STILL.~~

Anyway, LOOSE END #6: SPANNER WHERE THE HELL WERE YOU. Now we know. Missing out entirely on the epic battle because he was busy building something useless (though I can't really say that, because it proved all too useful in the end. That panel was seriously a work of genius).

7. NOOOOOOOOOOOOO. ;_; LOOSE END #7 MAKES ME TERRIBLY SAD. I wanted them to keep them! Uri! Nuts! Jirou! SISTEMA C.A.I.!!! PLEASE SAY IT AIN'T SO.

I... I... I need a moment. Uri, you'll live on forever in my heart and headcanon.

Oh, and also, LOOSE END #8: KAWAHIRA. "Lol, we never did find out who the heck he was, eh?" Damn it, Basil, don't just say that with such a cheerful face. ~~Please be a villain in the next arc, please be a villain in the next arc... >_>~~

8. Shouichi. ;_____; I think I'll miss you most of all. Keep on shining, you crazy diamond. I hope you and Byakuran get your Good End in some parallel universe a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away.

9. OH WHAT FUCK YEAH. Revised Loose End #7! So they just reinvented the boxes back in the past! SWEET. I am a happy panda. And it's nice that they also went and caught up everyone who didn't get to participate in Future Arc Funtimes. It's also nice that they even addressed that, because I hadn't even thought of it. Good on you, Amano. She's not leaving any plotholes without a fight.

Awww, Tsuna, it's okay to hug your mom, geez. XD Especially when you haven't seen her in... however the hell long it's been. Who even knows. BUT IT IS NO REFLECTION ON YOUR MANHOOD FOR YOU TO CARE ABOUT YOUR MOTHER, LAD.

Good to be back.

10. And last but not least, Loose End #9. The moment we've all been waiting for.

...it is not quite how I pictured it. XD I guess the future guardians got updated too? So much for the tearful reunion I may or may not have been anticipating.

Still, all the same, I really love this last page. Back where it all began. But it's all fixed now. They did it. They won.

Aaaaaand, roll credits. Fare thee well, Future Arc.

Now bring on the next one. And with the door wide open to all kinds of possibilities, I fully expect to see next week's chapter out bright and early too. Because there's no way I can be the only one who's this excited. :D

Leaving her family because she didn't want to be a burden. So now we know who he takes after.

Yeah, really. FLAIR FOR THE DRAMATIC clearly runs in the family.

The picture frame with Ryohei and Hana comes from when they all went to their houses to see the changes. (I think it was between Melone Base siege and Choice training.) But this is the first time Amano said it directly, previously it was heavily implied but not said.

Let us be grateful that whoever is the current editor, he is as crazy as Amano but a lot more eagle-eyed. Someone had to check on those holes Amano-san had to patch.

Oh, okay, that explains it (that would be the batch of chapters that I read through in a rush when I caught up with the manga last year). Guess it'll be interesting to see their interactions now that they're back; their own timeline is technically a parallel universe now, so things could turn out entirely differently between them, or exactly the same. WE SHALL WATCH WITH GREAT INTEREST.

Yeah, I'm really impressed. I think they got just about everything on my checklist, and a few I missed besides.

Yeah, you first see it when Kyoko is at Hana's, and it shows Hana with some mystery man in a certain pose, and then when Ryohei goes to his place, he sees the same frame with Hana as a silhouette instead, but it's the same damn pose.

HONESTLY, WHEN I FIRST SAW IT AT HANA'S HOUSE, I THOUGHT IT WAS GAMMA AND WAS LIKE, OH SHI-- DRAMA. /BUSTARHYME

PLOT HOLE FIXINNNZZZZ. At least it's a good sign that she's in full flare mode to continue her series by leaving shit open. I still hope we see SOMETHING of Byakips and Shou again... I mean she's good about bringing people back, obv. (VARIA, MURKIPS FAGS, RING!LANCIA, etc.)

I remember the picture at Hana's house, but my memory seems to have skipped out on the Ryohei scene entirely. Failfailfail. XD But that's really cool and also kind of hilarious somehow.

LOL, they do have similar profiles, don't they? Hell, I thought it looked oddly like Gamma in this chapter, even though I knew it was Ryohei.

If we never see Fairypants McFireworks again I will be very sad. But this is shounen, so reappearances seem highly likely. At the very least, I'm sure that Shou and Spanner will pop up again, especially since according to Verde their memories got updated.

I was upset that Gokupapa turned out to be good....like you said there goes all those years of wallow and anx out the window. I was hoping for something more dramatic because they are in the mafia right? ~~Also, there goes my dreams of Shamal being the one to kill Goku's mom~~.

I also need more drama with the 10YL crew. Didn't Tsuna lie to all of them except for Hibari? And here comes Yamamo saying casually "Where's Tsuna?". It's just all too easy!

I'm all happy that it's short and sweet, avoiding potential overkill but it all ended way too easy. Can't there be any consequences?

Yeah, as a lover of angst, this complicates things somewhat for me. XD But the more I think about it, the more I can come up with a surprising number of workarounds. You can't detach yourself from angst that easily Gokudera. >_>

They kind of left that open, it seems. More room for fanfic writers to work with, I suppose? At least we got to see one last panel of them all, at any rate.

I'm still annoyed that we never got a reaction from Tsuna at actually killing someone (even a guy like Byakuran), but I guess Amano had to wrap it all up quickly. At least we get to move on to the next arc now (and way, way earlier than I'd have ever hoped, too).

Now that you mention it, they do kind of look alike. D:

I guess it would have been too complicated to bother sorting out onscreen. XD

I AM JUST GOING TO ASSUME THAT EITHER A) WHAT HE WAS GOING TO TELL US ENDED UP BEING MORE OR LESS WHAT WE FOUND OUT ANYWAY (they were created to protect the 7^3 and/or they were all going to be revived), OR B) AMANO IS HOLDING OUT FOR ANOTHER ARC IN WHICH THE INFORMATION WILL COME UP AGAIN. Because that was obviously a gaping hole in the plot, and yet it never even got mentioned. It would be a huge oversight on her part--too huge.

I've missed everything being so happy-go-lucky! Finally they can take a break from being BAMFs and just chill out and be regular teenagers instead! And Yamamoto can start doing baseball again yayyyyyyy!

Gosh, I was so happy for Gokudera. "You were born into this world loved by both of your parents" Uhnnnnn. I nearly cried. The first thing I did think was "wow, that's screwed up canon forever" though, haha...

I know, it's great. I really hope they have at least a chapter or two of doing stupid Daily Life stuff ~~and seeing fireworks~~ before the next big thing comes along (although knowing Amano, she might just want to jump right in... which I guess I also wouldn't be opposed to). They've earned it.

I'm really glad she got mentioned, even if it was just on one page. I wonder if her past self got updated too, or if she missed out.

M.M. is just jealous and doesn't even know what she's talking about. Seriously.

The only thing about that is that she also gave him the letters, so I have to assume that they at least partly back her story up (and now I also have this little mental image of him curled up on his couch back home and reading them one by one and getting secretly choked up, aww). But yeah, they still have a ton of other issues to sort out. (And I totally agree. Poison cookies aside (sob), she really loves him a lot; he's lucky to have her.)

Haha, Kikyou at the very least would totally do that, just because without Byakuran there he needs someone to suck up to. I really hope he does. And Shou and Spanner are definitely joining the team. Once Vongola, always Vongola, no matter what timeline you're in.

The way his name was so casually slipped in there, you know he's going to pop up before too long. Can't wait to find out more about him.

The only reason I'm not disappointed at the lack of TYL!Tsuna is that I'm 100% sure he looks exactly like Giotto anyway. Really, I don't even know what the point of hiding him is. I guess it's just one of those weird stylistic things.

Kawahira is so going to be the next Big Mysterious Ambiguous Figure. :D And I'm kind of hoping that TYL!Tsuna is covered in hideous scars or something so there would be a Very Good Reason for Amano to hide his face.

Amano does love to introduce bits and pieces of the next plotline into whatever arc she's currently doing, so it seems likely. And heh, that would be awesome. But I still think she's probably just being annoying and hiding his face even though he's just a normal Joe. XD

Either way is fine by me. A few DL-style chapters would be more than welcome, but the way Amano's been pacing things lately, I can't help but think she's more likely to just jump right into the next big thing. Which I have my fingers crossed will be a dramatic government-gets-involved thing, but a tri-ni-sette arc and/or Arco arc also seems possible, so.

Oh man the end of the future arc was great. I mean, I've never had as much of a problem with the arc as some of the other fans have, but...that really was a good end. Typical Reborn-esque ending where everyone's happy. It made me wibble. ;-;

Especially the part with Gokudera's mom. And the end with the TYL guardians was really good. And ahhh TSUNA.

It was just a great ending to a pretty great arc. /SOB.

I'm not sure how I feel about it continuing, but I'm just afraid it'll become the next never-ending shounen series, unless she can pull off dragging it on for longer. I mean, as long as Amano wants to keep writing it and isn't doing it for the money, then I'm sure whatever comes next will be AWESOME, and not too far off the already beaten shounen-path. XD In the good way. 'Cause, while I don't want to see it drag on, I don't want to see it end either. So I guess that makes me excited too! I just love this series too much.

It's like the only manga I'm this into. (Or into enough to buy little gay cellphone charms of Yamamoto and Gokudera.)

Yeah, I have to hand it to Amano; I had my doubts with the way the Byakuran fight ended, but the aftermath and end of the arc was handled perfectly. Nothing was drawn out, and yet pretty much everything was resolved in the end. It made me wibble too (especially the last page; that was absolutely the perfect shot to end it on). All in all, this arc had its ups and downs but I enjoyed it a lot.

For now, I choose to potentially err on the side of faith. The Future Arc was like the mother of all long dragged-out arcs (well, for this series, anyway), and Amano still managed with that, so I'm hoping the trial-and-error here will help with the next arc's planning. I'd hate to see KHR stall for too long and end up like Naruto or Bleach, but so far it's managed to avoid most of the pitfalls they fell into, so I'm optimistic.

And me too, haha. I absolutely get what you mean about not wanting it to end, but not wanting it to go bad either. 'Cause right now it's so good and I love it so much, and I just hope it can continue like this for as long as possible.

Yeah, I definitely agree. It had its downs but I still enjoyed it nonetheless. The Byakuran fight seemed to go a lot faster than I expected, but Uni ;3; sob.

Yeah. I'd hate to see it stall too long as well, but I'm optimistic as well! I know if she decides to continue, it'll be great, though I'm honestly not sure what you can do after Byakuran, seriously. D: Is there any other way in which the characters can grow?

...god, this arc really is over, huh? :\ idk, I am also reallyreally excited for the next chapter but at the same time I still feel like it ended to abruptly. What about Byakuran? Okay, you know what would make me an extremely happy fan? If teenaged Byakuran joined forces with them for the next arc. YES.

Yeah, but they hint at it so much that I'm actually going to be shocked if he really does betray them. XD He's become completely impotent as a villain, come on!

I would really like to see his dad in the manga in some way or other. Really I just want to see his face. I'm tired of him being a shadowy pinstriped figure. And even just a few seconds of him interacting with Gokudera would clarify so much about their relationship... yeah, I hope he shows up at some point.

I'm just sad we only got to see Spanner so briefly before they all went home. I'm gonna miss that crazy kid.

I just want him to be a villain because he has that same derpy reflective glasses EXCEPT WHEN HE'S SERIOUS thing going on that Shou used to do (and Aizen from Bleach, too). And yeah, even Reborn was like, hey, what? when he used his mysterious powers, and it takes a lot to throw Reborn off. A lot. ALSO HE SAID THEY ALL OWE HIM AND IT WAS VERY OMINOUS. But whoever he is, I just hope he shows up again soon because my interest has been piqued.

HAHA YEAH. "IS HE BECOMING REBELLIOUS?" Well, at the rate they're going, they're all going to be sporting dozens of different rings before long, so if his mom is worried now... >_>

Amano really did speed things up; I'm frankly amazed that just three chapters ago Byakuran was still alive and kicking, and now they're back home already. Still not sure how that happened. But at least most of the important stuff was wrapped up first, even if it was rushed.

And yeah, I really want TYE!Byakuran to cameo at some point. I hope he's still around. :(

And Squalo and Yamamoto make me happy. It was a pretty epic farewell, and filled with lulz too, which is all I could ask for.

LOL, this montage of TYL!Tsuna's face being conveniently hidden behind various trees, paintings, toilets, fish, Buddha masks, etcetera just automatically reeled itself through my mind. IT WAS GLORIOUS.

I bet the whole Mukuro thing is some Xanatos Gambit shit where Mukuro's escape and Chrome's survival like hinges on her not entirely trusting him in the future and so he paid MM to put the idea in her head that he was going to fuck her over. I'M CALLING IT NOW! Oh god I used a TV trope in conversation, I hate myself.
