[FST] Stormy Kind of Love

And here today we have... a FST! Because I was in a music-y mood, and because I've fangirled KHR so much lately that every other song makes me think, "You know, that reminds me of..."

So here you go:

I. Gokudera Hayato

This is very much Gokudera's journey over the course of the series. He starts out as someone alone and against the world and desperate to prove himself, and then upon meeting the Vongola and finally being accepted, he slowly grows to realize his full potential.

Stray (Steve Conte)

Or opened up to anyone, including myself
I would like to find a way to open to you
It’s been a while, don’t know if I remember how to

Another song that sort of sums up Gokudera's independent nature and how that slowly changes when he meets Tsuna and the others.

Thinking my life was just a lie

He hasn't always had it easy, but he'll never ever let that stop him.

II. Yamamoto Takeshi

Yamamoto is someone who always gives his all and isn't afraid to take chances. He loves life, and he wants to live it to its fullest.

God Put a Smile upon Your Face (Coldplay)

Where do we go, nobody knows
I gotta say I’m on my way back down
God gave me style and gave me grace
And put a smile upon my face

An easygoing song for an easygoing guy. Come what may, he's there with a smile, never letting anything get him down.

Trying (Lifehouse)

Honesty is a hard attribute to find
When we all wanna seem like
We’ve got it all figured out
Well, let me be the first to say that I don’t have a clue
I don’t have all the answers
Ain’t gonna pretend like I do

He may not always understand what's going on, but he's fine with that. He's not one of those people who suffers from a need to always be right; he's very laid-back and unassuming. As long as he tries his best, things will always work out.

III. 8059

One (U2)

We’re one, but we’re not the same
We get to carry each other

They have an understanding, the two of them, but that doesn't make their relationship any less volatile. Still, when push comes to shove, they've got each other's backs.

Wet Sand (Red Hot Chili Peppers)

My, what a good day for a walk outside
I’d like to get to know you a little better, baby
God knows that I really tried

Yamamoto loves Gokudera, he really does, but it's pretty hard for him to figure out the other at times; they're so different. Yamamoto is unconditionally open and trusting of the world, while Gokudera is walled up and closed in.

Oil and Water (Incubus)

I’ve been smiling with anchors on my shoulders
But I’ve been dying, dying, dying
To let them go
Babe, this wouldn’t be the first time
It will not be the last time
There is no parasol that can shelter this weather

Essentially, they are contrasts; one laughing, the other scowling. They're not a natural mix, and it's all too often apparent. But just because it's messy doesn't mean it doesn't work.

A Message (Coldplay)

Your heavy heart is made of stone
And it’s so hard to see clearly
You don’t have to be on your own

Yamamoto understands Gokudera perhaps even better than Gokudera understands himself. He gets that he has issues, gets that he has trouble accepting love from anyone other than Tsuna. And yet, that makes him all the more determined. He'll get through to him someday, somehow.

Sweetest Thing (U2)

My love, she throws me like a rubber ball
But she won’t catch me or break my fall
Baby’s got blue skies up ahead
But in this I’m a rain cloud
You know, she wants a dry kind of love

As happy as Gokudera is to hand out abuse, Yamamoto will always be just as happy to laugh it off. Theirs is a stormy kind of love.

One Week (Barenaked Ladies)

It’s been one week since you looked at me
Dropped your arms to your sides and said, “I’m sorry”
Five days since I laughed at you
And said, “You just did just what I thought you were gonna do”

Yeah, they fight. It's just how they are. In the end, it's enough that they're always forgiven.

Everything's dead or dying; everything's gone all to hell. All they've got left is each other. But as long as they have that, there's still something to live for.

They've made so many mistakes, things Yamamoto wishes more than anything that they could go back and do again. But the only thing he can do now is hold himself together and keep moving on. Not for his sake; for Gokudera's.

Niceeeee... but I still contest that Three Days Grace's "I Hate Everything About You" is the 8059 song. (In the 59 --> 80 way lol) :)

Thanks! And heh, can't really disagree on that one. :P I didn't put it here because I've already seen it on one or two other FSTs (that and most of the songs here wound up being more 80 --> 59, however that worked out XD), but it's like the rival-shipping song. XD

OMG, this reminded me of so many songs I used to hear. Anyways, good choices! And this: He may not always understand what's going on, but he's fine with that. followed by this: Yamamoto understands Gokudera perhaps even better than Gokudera understands himself. is like enough proof 8059 can be a canon non-one-sided relationship. XD Ha...and I wouldn't even consider myself a 8059 shipper (I'm not really much a shipper of ANYTHING because it's so hard to chose a fav KHR pairing @_@) so I'm not biased! XDD *bricked*

There are a lot of late-90s/early 2000s songs on there, come to think. XD Nostalgia~... anyways, thank you!

Heh, to me it seems like Yamamoto, for all his general cluelessness about the world at large (lol mafia game XD), can be incredibly perceptive when it comes to understanding people. He's a great match for Gokudera in that sense because Dera really needs someone who can understand his issues and put up with him anyway. :P I think that theme came up more than a few times when I was choosing songs for this. :)
