ITP I actually predicted something right for once!

1. This has got to be the saddest page since Uni died in Gamma's arms. And to add insult to injury, the text almost seems to be gleefully rubbing it in. "OH LOOK, TSUNA NEVER SHOWED UP. AND NOW POOR ENMA IS ALL ALONE. AND SAD. AND ALONE." We readers are invited to ponder what desolate thoughts must be running through his mind. My submission: 'In hindsight, maybe it would have been better if I'd sent him a GODDAMN TEXT instead.'
Also, given the incredibly dismaying events that are about to take place, I just have to say that is the most understated chapter title ever.
2. So a short while later, Adelheid comes strolling up like the oh-so-fine right hand lady that she is and attempts to cheer her shotaboss up by fanning the flames of hatred and despair. At that point, Enma looks up to reveal that he was not, in fact, weeping softly like we had all assumed, but was instead practicing BEING FUCKING TERRIFYING, and OH MY GOD IT'S THE RETURN OF THE CREEPY EYES. FFFFFF I THOUGHT THOSE DAYS WERE BEHIND US.
Seriously, I have never seen someone make such an abrupt and yet unsettlingly seamless transition into being a villain. Well played, Kozato Enma. Also, D:
3. Hmm, interesting. Perhaps the citizens of Namimori are not quite as oblivious as I thought! Of course, given that Gokudera and co. have always been shockingly candid about being in the mafia, the rest of the student body would probably have to be living under a giant rock to not have figured it out by now. XD
4. Oh my God nostalgia. ;_; If I'm not mistaken, this was the very first hiding place Reborn ever used in the manga, back in chapter I'm-gonna-go-with-two. The good old fire cabinet. And let's just hope Namimori Middle never actually catches on fire.
Anyway, blah blah Tsuna you have to make a decision blah blah blah. Nothing they haven't been saying since this arc freaking started, and since Tsuna himself seems to have made up his mind already, we too shall be moving on.
5. To Nametwin, who has apparently finally made real actual face-to-face non-stalker contact with Chrome! PROGRESS. He wastes no time in asking her to come away with him in his white van. He didn't actually mention the van, but I figure there must have been a van, because seriously.
Fortunately, Chrome has self-preservation instincts and leaves before anything else terrible can happen in this chapter. Thanks for that, Chrome.
6. Wow, I gotta say, I am really digging Tsuna's non-acceptance speech. It's the side of Tsuna that I love the most--humble, but thoughtful and mature. Really mature, seriously; it's clear he's put some thought into what he was going to say and how he was going to turn the Ninth down.
Oh, Tsuna, haters gonna hate, but for what it's worth, I love you for this moment. Whether or not it's the right decision, you can't deny the kid has class.
7. Elsewhere, Yamamoto and Kaoru are being entirely too gay, awww. Just look at them. Clearly they are the best of friends and nothing even remotely horrible is just on the horizon.
8. ...Well, granted, that's a little suspicious, but far be it from me to begrudge a man for being a little overprotective of his jewelry!
9. --and okay, this too raises a few eyebrows, but maybe Kaoru was just practicing drawing Vongola crests one day for some reason and got frustrated with the results! DON'T WE ALL HAVE DAYS LIKE THAT? No? But you see, the thing is, if it really does in fact mean "OVERTHROW VONGOLA" like Yamamoto so moronically chose to contemplate out loud (WHY YAMA WHY), then that means terrible things are about to happen and we don't want that, so let's all close our eyes very quickly and click our heels and say there's no place like home, and hopefully this will all just--
10. --FUCK.
GODDAMN YOU AMANO, GOD DAMN YOU. WHEN I SAID I WANTED ANGST THIS WAS NOT WHAT I MEANT AND YOU FUCKING KNOW IT. WE HAD A DEAL AAAAUUUUGH WHYYYYYY.
Some quick observations before I break down into a puddle of shattered hopes and dreams:
- Well, this chapter started out with a gross understatement, so it's only fitting for it to end with one too. I think Yamamoto's "Not... good..." fits the bill pretty nicely, wouldn't you say?
- Christ, Kaoru, way to blow your cover in the absolute least subtle way possible.
- And then he goes and WALKS AWAY and just LEAVES Yamamoto lying there, apparently forgetting that Yamamoto is A MAIN CHARACTER IN SHOUNEN and cannot actually die no matter how many gallons of blood are spewing from his you'd-think-would-be-fatal-but-nope wounds.
- Seriously, he's not gonna die. Nope. Not even gonna consider that outcome, no thanks.
- That does not, however, mean I'm not going to spend the entirety of next week fretting like a fretting thing, OH YAMA MY POOR BABY DON'T DIE, I MEAN I KNOW YOU'RE NOT GOING TO BUT SERIOUSLY, DON'T.

SOBBBBBBB
It looks really bad too, I'm really hoping that somebody will find him before something really terrible happens. Also, way to blow Tsuna's 'I want to protect my friends' speech right out of the water by totally destroying one of his best friends. I wonder if this accident is going to be the turning point for pushing Tsuna to take the place?
Re: SOBBBBBBB
Maybe Gokudera will find him given that he's managed to be literally everywhere else if you so much as think his name these days. XD I CAN ONLY HOPE.
And I can see it somehow being twisted around into the push Tsuna needs to accept his role as the tenth boss after all. But you know, the fact that Yamamoto got hurt because of all this really just proves Tsuna's point that his being in the mafia only puts his friends in danger in the end. He was right. XD

Know that you, madam, will not be alone in this.
And I kid you not that I think I slept off a looming depression at the spoilers yesterday. Waking up almost noon (no matter what time I went to bed) is unacceptable, but it happened. I wasn't totally around all of yesterday. Aiya, Amano-san, why you do this to me.
I don't even sure how
*btw my parttime job allows me to show up in the afternoon so no big deal. It was just weird, waking up almost noon.
no subject
Lol, I was kind of the opposite regarding the spoilers; I was so wound up that I could barely sleep at all. THERE WILL BE NO REST FOR ME AFTER THIS.
;_;

Incidentally, I could probably beat him in a woe-is-me contest at this particular moment. Agh! Yamamotooooooo! D: D: D: Gah. This is just not on. It's too early in the arc for anything UNTHINKABLE UNTHINKABLE to happen, but I am still concerned and,
and and god damn it, by the time next chapter comes around I'm going to be in Corsica with no internet. noooooo!
I liked Tsuna's non-acceptance speech, too. Strange, that I feel it's one of his most courageous-sounding moments for a while...I love watching Tsuna with fire on his head and fists in the enemy's face, etc. etc., but I admire him most in moments like this.
Also, "For my next trick, I predict that the winner of the World Cup will be... a soccer team." made me lol. xD

BUT BEING SAD AGGRESSIVELY IS LONGCHAMP'S WEAPON! ENMA, GET YOUR OWN.Maybe if we all get together we can drown the Shimon family with our tears or something. I don't think there's a single fan out there who's not in mourning this week. XD
And eeeee, on the one hand, CORSICA OMG THAT IS AWESOME, but on the other hand, the timing could certainly be better. ;; At least you have something to look forward to when you get back (assuming Amano doesn't leave us hanging further next week, which she SURELY WOULD NOT because I can't even begin to fathom the fan revolt if she did)?
Totally agree about Tsuna, especially about this being one of his more courageous moments. I mean, it takes a lot of guts to resist the kind of pressure they were all putting on him to accept the position. But he made his own decision, and he acted it out so gracefully... I'm actually really proud of him.
Haha, I'm just glad no one called me out on the fact that it's technically going to be a football team, lol. XDD

I REALLY WISH THERE WAS SOME WAY TO JUMP THROUGH THE MANGA PAGES AND GET HIM A DOCTOR OR SOMETHING. I feel so guilty about leaving him lying there for an entire week, somehow. NEVER MIND THAT THAT MAKES ABSOLUTELY NO SENSE.

Yamamoto aside ( D: ), the thing that has been bothering me is this: Why is it so absolutely necessary for Tsuna to become the boss NOW?! Why not wait until the poor boy has finished puberty (and high school) before shoving this crap onto him?! Was this addressed somewhere and I just missed it? I mean, I know it's a shonen manga, but come on!
...Yamamoto, please be alive. :(
no subject
I wonder that too-- I know Vongola Nono is really old, but the guy's fought Xanxus, been shoved into a Gola Mosca and is still alive; I doubt he'd die easily within the next few years.

He has to be alive, it's the Irie effect. Irie was mortally wounded and he was still alive. Yamamoto, please be alive too, :(

Except they killed off Gamma and Uni and Genkishi and all the funeral wreaths, but. BUT. :(WE'VE GOT TO HAVE FAITH.
Amano why do you torment us?!
This chapter drove me nuts, but the worst was what happened to Yama. Why does Amano seem to ALWAYS make Yama or Squalo half-dead in order to move the plot?! Does she hate our Rain boys or something?? It would be extremely fitting though if Dino found Yama-- the Bucking Horse seems to have a knack for saving Squalo from certain death, after all.
I understand Tsuna's reasons, but... c'mon, kid, last arc you were really acting more like a boss, and that's not a bad thing. Hell, Dino's proof that you don't have to be great at normal stuff to be an awesome boss.
Also, I want the Varia around.
I'm not hoping to see Xanxus be sexy and blow shit up, oh no.WHY INDEED.
It wouldn't really be in his character if he accepted it without any hesitation at this point, though. Maybe by the end of this arc, if his character development focuses on this theme. But I agree that he's got the skills already; it's more about the motivation/confidence now.
And the Varia would definitely be welcome (shouldn't they be in town for the ceremony, anyway?). MAYBE XANXUS CAN RESCUE YAMAMOTO.

Actually, I was just waiting for one of the Shimon guys to go all villain on one of the boys' arses but I really wouldn't have bet my money on Kaoru and Yamamoto 0_o
I think
no subject
Yeah... we're not used to stereotypically bad guy-looking people acting like bad guys in this series. But man, Kaoru-- a subtle person you are not.
I had suggested Dino (he has a Rain Guardian Radar, I swear!), but Hibari has his Namimori Radar, and it's prolly going like crazy from the blood splattered on Namimori property.

He really, really does. ♥ (Although I'm wondering -- if Tsuna didn't become Tenth, who would? Xanxus, maybe? And what would Tsuna and his friends do if they didn't join the Vongola? *mustnotwriteficmustnotwritefic*
And oh, Yamamoto, you are so clever yet so dumb. DO NOT ASK THE LARGE SCARY DUDE WITH UNKNOWN POWERS IF HE'S PLANNING TO OVERTHROW YOUR MAFIA FAMILY, OH MY GOD SERIOUSLY.
Are we sure his suicidal tendencies were taken care of when Tsuna saved him?I hope Hibari finds him; I can imagine him going all Someone has splattered this student's blood all over Namimori property. This shall not stand. It would be so epic!Yamamoto, oh my heart. ;_;

Are you really SURE that a soccer team will win the world cup? REALLY?! :O
See, I always knew Yama wasn't the sharpest knife in the box, but contemplating the potentially villainous motives of a person who is in the room with you OUT LOUD? That's pretty damn stupid. Pretty damn stupid, all right.
MY INSIGHT TELLS ME YES.
Good on you, Enma, you finally freaked me out! Pretty impressive for a cuddly shota who can't even send a text message right.
Yeah, that was definitely not one of his finer moments. Right up there with crashing into the wall, in fact. (And the wall was hidden by an illusion; I don't even know what his excuse could possibly be with Kaoru. I WONDER IF THE GUY BEAMED HIM IN THE HEAD WITH A FEW OF THOSE PITCHES BEFOREHAND.)
WOW.

THANK YOU. HE HAD THE CELL PHONE RIGHT IN HIS FREAKING HAND COME ON.
Whether or not it's the right decision, you can't deny the kid has class.
*emphatically agrees* Obviously he can't not be the mafia boss (or we'll have no manga), but the way he turned the Ninth down? Absolutely beautiful. He didn't just FREAK OUT NO I DON'T WANNA BE A BOSS, he has actual, legitimate reasons.
That does not, however, mean I'm not going to spend the entirety of next week fretting like a fretting thing, OH YAMA MY POOR BABY DON'T DIE, I MEAN I KNOW YOU'RE NOT GOING TO BUT SERIOUSLY, DON'T.
You, me, and everyone else in fandom who has any sort of heart. T___T *still sobbing*
Also, might I add your reviews are hilarious and I love them? You made this chapter a little more bearable. <33

I love how he explained it. I keep going back to reread those two pages
the only pages in this chapter where something GOOD actually happened soband the more I go over it, the more impressed I am. He's got a lot of poise for a spastic panicky fourteen year old. You, me, and everyone else in fandom who has any sort of heart.
YEAH REALLY. GOD AMANO, YOU MADE ALL OF FANDOM MISERABLE, I HOPE YOU'RE HAPPY NOW. :|
And thanks, heh. <3

NO FUCK NO YOU DON'T DO THAT TO YAMA. I DON'T EVEN CARE THAT YAMA'S NOT GOING TO DIE, YOU JUST DON'T FUCK WITH HIM, OK?
Although, this would be an excellent time for Gokudera to show his true colors... *3*
If you need me, I'll just be by myself, rocking back and forth in a dark corner until next Friday.

7. Someone (or a descendant of someone) who has been terribly wronged by the Vongola in the past and still harbors a grudge appears. There.
PROS - I like the idea of Tsuna struggling to deal with the SINS OF THE PAST as the unwilling heir to that history, and wondering what's the right thing to do and so on. Angst, character development, more personal stakes; it has everything I love in an arc.
CONS - ...Hell, I can't think of any. LET'S DO THIS.
^this happened. You're amazing. xD

Now I'm even more excited for this arc, though, haha.

Really sometimes i feel that to be able to enjoy KHR, you got to ignore the holes and just focus on the pretty boys *cough*amitooharsh*cough*
From the way Tsuna keeps saying "I'll destroy Vongola!" and "I don't want to be boss", I have a feeling in the end Tsuna will not become a boss at all. He got to fulfill his dream of marrying Kyoko and become an ordinary citizen with ordinary job
and got fired when recession comes. Everybody fulfills their dream: Yamamoto become a baseball player, etc.I dunno, such ending is possible. But i'll be disappointed when that happens D:
Because we all want to see Tsuna grows to be his badass TYLself. :D
no subject
I actually wouldn't mind an ending like that if it did happen, though I kind of doubt it will. But I can relate to Tsuna just wanting to live a normal life, and I'm attached enough to his character that I can't help wanting him to be happy. It would be nice if his character grows enough that being the awesome heroic mafia boss that Primo wanted would be enough to give him that happiness and fulfilment, but if not, I'd want him to make the choice in the end that would make him the most content. Though you sure wouldn't be the only one disappointed if that did happen, heh. XD

most understated chapter title ever.
I read the chapter AFTER I saw this and burst out laughing when I did see the title XDDD
IT'S SO WEIRD THAT A FUCKING GUST OF WIND CAUSED THIS MISUNDERSTANDING! It's like...neither side thought this would happen?! BUT IT DID?! @A@ NOOO ENMAAAA ))): TSUNA LOVES YOU, HE REALLY DOES!
I wonder if Tsuna even has say in all this. He might, but conflict happens. >>: still, i love how he turned down the offer.
OMG THE ENDING SLDKHFAS YAMAMOTO DDD: I WAS LIKE 'OMG IS THIS ACTUALLY HAPPENING??? O____o' but yeah, shonen leads get death immunity so I'm not too sad. Still, did not see that coming D:
but lol at him pondering out loud about their BETRAYAL, he's so clue...ful.
If Gokudera saves him from his new boyfriend I will laugh very hard.
no subject
A teenager getting hacked to bits is totally a misunderstanding. IF ONLY ENMA HAD DONE SOME KIND OF FOLLOWUP ON THAT LETTER. THOSE ARE BAD HABITS FOR A FUTURE BOSS TO GET INTO.
Since I waited so long to reply to this comment like a winner, we already know how it plays out with Tsuna now, but yeah, even if he did end up having to go back on that, I still love how he initially turned the Ninth down. I thought it was his most bosslike moment yet, strangely enough.
GOKUDERA CAME THIS CLOSE TO SAVING HIM but then Ryohei got there first. Damn him and his lifesaving COCKBLOCKING sun ring. XD And lol, yeah, Yamamoto, there are some things you just don't speculate about out loud, son. HAD TO LEARN THE HARD WAY THIS TIME.
no subject
OH
SNAPSHIT, SON.Is it only me or does Tsuna slowly but steadily develop a BAMF glow, without his dying will? And that soon enough we'll hear fangirls moan Tsuna's name in fangasmic delight?
Only me? Okay then.
A-HA! My predictions were truuuuuueeee!!! *ALL ACCORDING TO PLAN, NYEHEHEHE*
I just ADORE evil!emo!Enma, it's... it's ..... IT'S.....
But then comes the closing of this chapter, I gasped out loud and let a little 'nuuuuu~' out too when I saw Yamamoto!
Why Amano?
Just... Why?
Why the sweetest, friendliest, happiest character of the series? WHY?
And the fact that A-HA's "Take on me" was playing in the background (OLDIES, FUCK YEAH!) DIDN'T HELP THE SOB FEST I WAS GOING THRU EITHER!
*/wrist*

And it's not just you. He's starting to have a bossly aura about him even when his forehead's not lit up in flames. If he were any more awesome in this chapter he'd have people bowing down to him, boss or no boss.
And Amano really did pick the one character who'd get everyone to freak out. YAMAMOTO. YOU DO NOT MESS WITH YAMAMOTO. Everyone loves him; he was the perfect choice from a sadistic storytelling viewpoint, really. CURSES.
(no subject)
Texting must be too overrated for the mafia.
all because of two little children being children and a stupid gust of wind. Yeah, in hindsight, a text message would have solved everything. Maybe Enma was just too shy to ask for his number?4. Is it just me or does it seem like Tsuna got away from his bodyguards
only to run into Reborn in a fire cabinet? Yup, he has a lot of skills he likes to keep hidden apparently, but Reborn isn't fooled. Oh no. If Tsuna's going to wander off on his lonesome, he's going to be right there as well.5. Your Nametwin. Is. Very forward. But at least Chrome knew better than to run away with a wolf in sheep's clothing. I'm betting Mukuro will scold her sometime later about why she was just standing there when a stalker had just confronted her.
6. I think that speech alone proves Tsuna's ready to be a boss. He's maturing, capable of making his own decisions, and he's lost that naive air where he can be manipulated into anything.
Like way back when Fuuta appeared and couldn't say no.I think all he needs is that one last confidence boost to keep standing up for himself and his decisions and he could make a great leader in the end.8. Yeah, totally. As far as Yamamoto was concerned, it could have been one of those keepsake things you never let out of your sight.
9. It wasn't odd at all to see the Vongola crest tied around it, either, of course not. I mean, who doesn't dig the clam family these days? He could have been on the banner committee for the ceremony, who knows? Yamamoto sure didn't, but oh how the idiotic tendencies show at the most inopportune time. Given, he could have just been fishing for information in the stupidest way possible, but then again this Yamamoto. He has this uncanny way of trying to see the best in people even when they JUST TRIED TO KILL HIM.
10. I'm kind of hoping Gokudera
and Ryohei, if only because he could actually do that whole sun activation thing and help outwill show up before Yamamoto passes out, at the very least. I mean, with those kind of injuries, who knows when he's going to wake up next? And Tsuna must know about this horrendous turn of events as soon as possible.... A-And now I should disappear and weep silently in the corner because. Yamamoto. You idiot. STOP TRYING TO TURN YOURSELF INTO SUSHI WITH MORONIC COMMENTS.
