For KHR 308, that is. Despite the fact that EVERYONE ON MY FLIST seemed to be posting about this chapter, which made me hella curious (I was waiting for IEM's release). IT WAS PRETTY TORTUROUS. But hopefully worth it!


1. This page seems kind of familiar. Where have I seen hilariously intense close-ups of people with feathered hair making "GRAGH" faces before?

First Yamamoto, then Chrome and now Ryohei. ;_; Jesus this is the worst week ever. Why do I suddenly have the horrible, horrible fear that by the time these pride battles are over, Tsuna will be left all alone? ...And is it bad that he is my prime concern right now? Not Ryohei, who's being dragged to the Vindice's mafia bondage dungeon covered in critical wounds, but Tsuna, who at least is still healthy and accompanied by his pet cow and loyal right hand man?

But I mean, it's Tsuna. To watch his friends be taken away from him one by one--it's like slow torture and it's just really fucking hard to sit here and watch this kid go through that, okay? :(


7. ...hello, what's this? Even though our party member was technically defeated, we still acquired a new reward item?

PFFFT WAIT, WHAT THE HELL. Okay... not sure if I was supposed to laugh or not, but that's what happened. XD Lambo, Julie, and Shitt P are in a three-way tie for most hilarious facial expression ever. Though to be honest, I'm pretty sure Lambo is victorious this day.

Of course, the humor was partially canceled out by the extremely dismaying news that Yamamoto is still as in-a-coma as ever. Amano could have at least omitted his panel and let us cling to false hope. :/


8. BUT MORE IMPORTANTLY, IT SEEMS THAT THE NEW ITEM CONTAINED A SERIES OF FLASHBACK PAGES!

I don't even know where to begin with these, so I'm just going to give you a transcript of how I actually read these panels in my mind.

GUY WHO I ASSUME IS SHIMON COZART, AND WHO MAKES ME HOPE WE'LL SOMEDAY GET A CHANCE TO SEE TYL!ENMA: Gee, thanks, I dropped it on purpose, dickwad. In case you haven't noticed, Paolo's family is starving and I figured I'd help them out. Since we all love Paolo. Good old Paolo.

NOT!GIOTTO: Oh, well, that's cool, we gave him some food so it's all good. And when I say "we", I mean me and my boyfriend here.

G: Yo.

NOT!GIOTTO: Hey, I just noticed I'm wearing suspenders! Bitchin'.

COZART: How about that? It appears we are both decent, charitable human beings! That's hilarious.

NOT!GIOTTO: It is hilarious!

COZART: My name is actually Cozato apparently.

NOT!GIOTTO: Cool, I'm Giotto*. And this is my "companion", G.

9. Whoa, and we're back in the present. Well, that just made my whole damn week.

But wait, this chapter's not done yet! Young Chrome has awakened! I guess that sparkly flashback!wallet magic was powerful enough to rouse her from her roofie-induced slumber. What shenanigans will she get herself into now?


10. No, Chrome, that is not Mukuro. That is a bad, bad man. RUN AWAY FAST.

Man, next week, I really hope we get to see Chrome kick Julie in the nuts. XD

I am secretly hoping that he's really a giant woobie on the inside and that my characterization of him in my "Chrome dumps him" drabble was actually not wildly far from the truth. IT'S A SLIM HOPE, but still a hope.

I was like, "Damn it, there's either something really good in this chapter or something really bad," and as it turns out, it was both. XD Heh.

1. The Byakuran panel left a permanent scar on my mind, so I assume that's why my mind immediately made the jump. Idk what it is about panels like that, but they weird me out. XD

4. Sadly, this turned out to be one of the few fights that I might in the future tell people who are catching up to skip. All they need to know is "AOBA PUNCHES/RYOHEI PUNCHES/THEY BOTH FALL DOWN AT THE SAME TIME." Sigh.

6. I am even now in my head running through dozens of different possible prison break scenarios, so yes, that's the one big silver lining. Still, in the meantime, it's really painful to have to watch them all go through this. :(

8. Flameless!Giotto was definitely a wonder. The thing that stood out to me the most was that without his flame, he looks like such a frail, girly little man. I COULD PICK YOU UP WITH ONE ARM, DUDE.

And "Cozato" is actually the third romanization of his name I've heard now, and thus far, the one that sounds the least like an actual Italian name. I want the translators to just pick one and stick with it already. XD

SUSPENDERS. SO AWESOME.

9. l-lol I had the "THANK GOD SHE IS STILL FULLY DRESSED" thought almost immediately after clicking on that page, but I didn't want to post it because that whole situation is already creepy enough without me highlighting it... but I'm so glad I'm not the only one who thought it. XD

10. I wouldn't go so far as "yay", but it sure does make things interesting, having him around. Can't wait for next week. :D

The best part was that Binktopia's translation during the flashback was:

Giotto: This is my beloved G.

It's the only part I agree with in that translation. I think I laughed for ten minutes after I read that. I just kind of stared at my screen like 'Uhhhh....did I really just read that?' *checks* 'Yes. Yes I did. I KNEW IT, YOU TWO.'

XD And the more I try to visualize where this arc is headed, the more likely it seems to me that they will all get taken away one by one until only Tsuna is left to face Enma in the epic showdown. Right now I am formulating an elaborate plot in my head in which Gokudera wins his fight, but then ends up taking Lambo's place when Lambo loses to Large (BECAUSE WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH YOU BASTARDS, TRYING TO TAKE A FIVE YEAR OLD TO YOUR MAFIA TERROR DUNGEON), so then he ends up in the Vindice prison with Ryohei, Aoba, and Shitt P, and they hatch a scheme to bust out. And the core of said scheme rests on busting Mukuro out first, because a) he's an illusionist and they really need one badly, and b) he's done it already, so, you know. Experience counts for a lot. XD

...IT COULD HAPPEN.

INORITE. But, like I said in hitman_reborn, I'm hoping that, because they didn't show the memory ending for Yamamoto like they did with everyone else, Yamamoto, off-screen, is waking up and going like, "LOL WTF JUST HAPPENED" and we get our awesome happy guy back.

FOUR WEEKS of watching these guys pummel each other, and it just...ended with both of them falling down. WTF this fight was so retarded.

Watching the Vindice take Ryohei and Aoba away was a little terrifying. It makes me wonder if all the Vongola guardians are going to lose, one by one, until Tsuna is left trying to singlehandedly save them all by beating Enma. It seems like such a typical Shounen thing to do.

Regarding the flashback, I actually prefer Binktopia's version because Giotto calling G his "beloved" just adds to the "WTF AM I READING THIS IS TOTAL TRAINWRECK" lulziness of this chapter.

reason 1: i wonder why Shimon Primo's name changes a lot. o.o i'm assuming it's written like this: コザート [koza-to], which can be spelled as C/Kozart or C/Kozato or whatever the hell translators want. >:3 until Amano releases the official romaji, at least. just a side note, AFAIK, the official romaji for シモン [shimon] is SIMON.
reason 2: what in the seven hells is that word Giotto used to describe G?? Binktopia translated it as BELOVED, while IEM used a less suggestive term companion. i am dying of curiosity~~~ @___@

10. Yes, Chrome, judging by the fringe, that definitely isn't Mukuro. XDDDD gahaaaaaaa, your theory that D.Spade might have told Shimon about Tsuna et. al might be is right. makes me wonder, though: is Julie possessed by D.Spade like how Chrome is possessed by Mukuro? or is Julie D.Spade himself? O__O

Yeah, after going back and reading Binktopia's version, I'm thinking that this actually turned out to be the less frustrating option. I'd rather wait for the scan that I can read and fully enjoy, even if it means waiting a bit longer (and missing out on the occasional epic mistranslation). XD

4. Yes, it was completely lame. Sorry, Amano, you get no points for that one.

6. Since I feel increasingly sure that they will all get taken away one by one, I'm hoping for a scenario in which Gokudera wins his fight, but then Lambo loses his afterward, and Gokudera makes a deal to take his place because it's not like he can just sit back and let the creepy undead prison guards take away their baby mascot. At which point, a completely broken-down and fatalistic Tsuna makes Reborn take Lambo back to the boats where the Ninth and co. are waiting, and then goes on to face Enma alone. This is my preferred scenario because it spares me the agony of having to watch the Vindice drag off a little kid in chains (and also because Gokudera wouldn't have to lose >_>).

There was some discussion on the hitman_reborn comm a day ago about the proper romanization of his name; after reading through it, I think I'm going to stick with Cozart for the time being. I assume it's written the way you said, which is why there's so much confusion.

This week was a giant serving of "WTF IS THIS BULLSHIT" for me. Ryohei and Aoba were as retarded as ever and the dragged-out fight now feels completely null and void.

I'm still in disbelief that Amano would dare to end a month-long fight in a fucking double k-o draw. THAT WAS A TERRIBLE DECISION, AMANO, AND I SAY THIS AS A DIE-HARD FAN.

Thankfully, the rest of this chapter more than made up for it IMO. The shock of seeing Ryohei get taken, and then the totally unexpected flashback, and then the equally unexpected cut to Chrome and her two creepy rapist acquaintances... good stuff all around.

The more I think about it, the more the "everyone loses" scenario seems likely. It's going to be hard as hell to watch, though.
