Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows was the worst movie ever!
It was terrible! I hated everything about it!!Naw, I'm just kidding; it was actually kind of the best movie ever. Probably I'll be making some sort of long, spasmatic capslocky post about it in the near future. Since everything about it was completely perfect fffff wake me up when it's July.
Well, in the meantime, at least there's still KHR!
1. "Oh, Gokudera's smoking." AND HOW. WARNING: Just so you all know, you can probably expect to see numerous statements along the lines of "DAMN, GOKUDERA IS HOT. *FANS SELF*" in about every other paragraph in this review.
Anyway, it appears the rules of this fight have finally been decided! BALLOON FIGHT. That's right, we are totally kicking it old school NES up in here. Although I confess, for a moment I was deeply, deeply saddened that they didn't end up basing their entire competition on seeing how many cigarette lighters they could shove up Gokudera's nose instead. That would have been amazing.
(It also really made me happy how civilly they decided on these rules. It's such a refreshing change to see two opponents actually getting along for once. And of course, it's all the more surreal because one of those opponents is Gokudera. HAHA, WE'RE LIVING IN THE TWILIGHT ZONE.)
2. Reaction to this page: "ROFL ROFL ROFL" at the bottom right panel ("OOH THIS BATTLE IS SHINY!!!"), and "teeheeheeheehee" at his face in the bottom left. Oh Gokudera, you make me so happy always with your smug "I SEE" faces.
And thank you, Shitt P, for having some common sense and giving this fight a freaking time limit. Because of this, I promise to never write a fic about you in which you get slapped repeatedly.
Mmm mmm mmm would you just look at that close-up of Gokudera's eye? Beautiful.
3. "TENTH, TAKE ALL OF OUR LUGGAGE AND GO HIDE." Well, if being a mafia boss doesn't pan out, at least he has his fallback career of being a bellhop.

THAT SAID, since Shitt P has apparently caught the exposition virus that's been plaguing her human colleagues, I must now take a moment to state that I disagree with her analysis and here's why!
It's true that Gokudera lives for the sake of the Tenth now! And it is true that he's had his share of codependency issues (<-- HUGE UNDERSTATEMENT). But Shitt P, you must understand that he was not always this way! Long ago, Gokudera Hayato once lived as you do! Putting himself before all others, living the life of a rebel, taking orders from no one, doing as he pleased.
AND IT FUCKING SUCKED.
I don't agree that living for the sake of someone else inherently makes you weak. Yes, if Tsuna died, Gokudera would be devastated. But he wouldn't just QUIT. Not the person he is now. He lives for his family, and if Tsuna died, his purpose would shift to taking charge of his boss's responsibilities. Protecting the others, keeping them from falling apart. What Shitt P is missing here, the thing that has escaped her notice, is that Gokudera is actually a better, stronger person as the Tenth's right hand man than he ever was when he was just living for his own sake alone. His confidence, his sense of honor and pride--those are all things he's learned from serving Tsuna, from being his friend. SHE HAS IT THE WRONG WAY AROUND, is what I'm saying. Anyway.
6. Side Note: I think these two shots would have made me even more uncomfortable (and rest assured, I am uncomfortable) if it hadn't taken me almost five minutes to finally realize what the hell that first one was (side shot of her boob, ohhhhhhhh. EVERYTHING LOOKS SO WEIRD FROM THIS SIDE ANGLE, OKAY).
7. Fermentation! So that's why she's so drunk all the time! Oh, Shitt P, you so crazy.
OH NO, GOKUDERA IS SINKING. GOSH DARN IT GOKUDERA, IF ONLY YOU HAD SOME SORT OF BOX-BASED SYSTEM THAT FEATURED LITTLE PLATFORMS WITH WHICH YOU COULD FLOAT ON TO ESCAPE FROM SWAMPLAND, AND ALSO SEND FLYING AROUND TO POP WAYWARD BUBBLES. THAT WOULD SURE SOLVE THIS DILEMMA IN A FLASH.
Sigh. At least those little air bomb thingies are helping a little bit.

9. ...Okay, either she stole Fuuta's ranking book, or Shitt P is actually better at stalking Tsuna than Gokudera is. I am so, so thankful that he didn't put that particular pride on the line. (Incidentally, chihuahuas are a perfectly reasonable [if hilarious] thing to be afraid of. He was probably just traumatized by Ren & Stimpy as a child.)
So now that Shitt P has finally wrapped up her impromptu roast of Tsuna (you made both him and me cry, Shittopi-chan--though in my case it was more from laughter), what will Gokudera's response be?
10. If you answered, "Make an incredibly hot dismissive face because he knew all of this already," then congratulations! The fact that Gokudera has actually had character development since the first chapter of this series has not escaped your notice, and you deserve props for making the kind assumption that just because Gokudera is loyal does not mean that he is wholly oblivious when it comes to the little details that make his beloved boss human! (YES, TSUNA. HE SAID ALL OF THEM.) Oh, Amano; maybe you did anticipate that post after all. :D :D :D
CLOSING THOUGHTS:
- I love that this whole thing has turned into an argument about whether or not Tsuna is worthy of Gokudera's respect. Just think about that for a sec. After Shitt P's initial speech, the question of whether or not Gokudera actually had respect for himself never even came up. It's just a given now that of course he does. That is SUCH A HUGE TURNAROUND FOR HIM that I think I may cry or something.
- I realize that the plot probably has it in for Gokudera, but damned if he isn't looking mighty sharp so far, even so. Still holding out hope that he'll win this thing, especially since I really want his pride to be vindicated, not crushed. Because he has been so calm and composed and not-at-all-doubting-himself so far, and he needs to stay this way because I am just in love over here.
- And speaking of love, THIS CHAPTER. God damn! DESPITE ITS LACK OF C.A.I. I officially want to have its babies, unf unf unf.
- As for you, Gokudera Hayato, what I want to do more than anything else right now is to go create one of those incredibly creepy "countdown to 18" websites JUST FOR YOU, even though you are a fictional character who does not even age at anything approaching a realistic rate, and has in fact been permanently frozen in the 14-15 range for the past half decade.
High five, chapter 315! You just keep doing your thing. You are beautiful and decent, and never let anybody ever tell you otherwise.

Lol, I was making that :o face too. And I agree with you about IEM's translation versus Binktopia's (I assume that's the one you were talking about), more or less. IEM's translator seems more familiar with KHR and able to pick up on the little nuances Binktopia misreads or overlooks. On the other hand, though, Binktopia has better scan cleaners, and a better proofreader (although this last chapter was some great work from IEM in both of those regards, so maybe they're finally taking a step up). Anyway, lately I've been reading both versions just to be sure I don't miss out on anything; if you want the site for IEM's version, it's UrUpload.com. Their version is usually up a day or so after Binktopia/Mangastream's.

Gokudera is fucking epic. I've gone from feeling protective toward him to being completely fucking awed and inspired by him. It's like, he's grown so much that I don't even know if he needs any more character development! He does everything right! WAY TO BE SELF-ACTUALIZED, GOKUDERA! YOU MAKE ME SO PROUD. And he's already at such an amazing level of development and self-assurance and he's... he's stable, I guess? Comfortable like this. He's the Tenth's Right Hand, he's good with his responsbilities to the Guardians, he's willing to take up the slack, he understands that while he has an important role, so do the others and he needs to respect that. I think maybe because he's come so far already that I might be blinded by his development, but I can't see too many ways for him to really develop more based on the current set-up (now, more Goku-papa would be wonderful for that).

I agree with you about his development too; he really has come so far that it's hard to think how he could progress any more. He is the whole package now! Smart, confident, compassionate, capable. But I don't think it's necessarily important that he still have issues to work out in order for him to be a compelling character (not that I'd complain if Gokupapa did show up, mind you). As long as he and the rest keep getting dumped into these crazy, desperate situations, that's more than enough conflict for me; it still keeps things interesting, and I like seeing him in the right hand man role strategizing and looking out for the other guardians and so forth.
As for that last part, while I don't necessarily think it would break him, it would be a pretty harsh blow, especially coming now. That said, what I've heard about 316 sounds pretty promising. ...8D

Yes! Gokudera really has grown so much since the early days...I mean, he was totally making progression before, but this chapter kind of brought everything together all at once and shoved it front and center like, "BAM! Fuck yeah I'm the Right Hand Man of the Tenth and I'm gonna do my job and that's all there is to it" and he was just so honest and nonchalant about it all.
And I think we were all vicariously living through Shitt P during this chapter. AJSALJFHALSJHFA My God that boy is hot.
I'm still trying to be optimistic that he's got the rest of the C.A.I. because this battle isn't over yet...don't fail me now Amano, show us his kickass upgrades! But my honest reaction after seeing the rules and the imposed time limit was, "...goddammit, is he going to lose again?" Once, just once, I want to see Gokudera have a huge leap in character development and be able to outright win his fight. I will be beyond crushed if he loses or ties now.

YES, THIS. Sob, the one thing that threw me a little in the following chapter was him saying that he still didn't actually love himself after all. XD I was all ready to throw a fit until he mentioned the whole comparing himself to G thing. Especially that....really bittersweet dance scene with Harry and Hermione...it sort of made me tear up a little...

The whole thing was amazing, really. From the obliviate scene in the opening to the seven Potters ("WE'RE IDENTICAL!" XD) to pretty much any scene with the main trio in it (they have gotten so good, the actors, I can't even believe it), and especially Ron (this was like the only movie out of the seven where didn't have any moments where he was acting like a complete buffoon. ;_; THIS WAS THE RON I HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR. THANK YOU DAVID YATES), but the others also. And Godric's Hollow was SUPER CREEPY and I will never feel safe walking around in the snow again, thank you very much, and Xenophilius Lovegood was perfectly cast--everyone was perfectly cast--and I love the animation they used to tell the Three Brothers story, and oh god I'm just going to stop because seriously. EVERYTHING. Everything was perfect!! I still can't believe it.

I know a lot of people who didn't like it and thought it was corny (dance scene) but...I really think it might have been one of the best scenes in the movie. It totally portrayed the hopeless attitude that their lives have taken and the fact that they've been trying to keep going on as normal in spite of it.
The Obliviate scene: That...was so depressing. The very beginning of the movie and that's what it opens with...it was a really great way to set the tone. That and the Dursley's leaving, with Petunia being just a bit reluctant.
The Seven potters was hilarious, depressing and a little disturbing at the same time, especially as you saw everyone in various stages of Harry. I'm glad they didn't just pan away and BOOM seven Harrys.
The Trio: In my little happy world I like to believe that Daniel, Rupert and Emma have a relationship that mirrors the Trio. They do it so perfectly and have done it for ten years that I just can't believe otherwise. They're amazing!
Casting: I've always, always thought that the casting for HP was the best I've ever scene. Usually when theres a movie made from a book I've read, I have major problems with the actors chosen (ie: Twilight). But ever since the first movie came out I've always pictured the actors in my head when I've read fics or rped HP. It's just...perfect. And every new character they introduce, they somehow find a way to keep casting the perfect actors. It's actually scary, lol.
Three Brothers: That was another part that I had a lot of friends complain about for some reason. I thought it was excellent.
...I've actually been trying to find even a small part of the movie that I didn't like....I've always been able to find one little thing about the other ones, like if they left out a scene or something....but they really left in EVERYTHING that I can remember about the book. Which is why they had to split it up I guess.
