Yeah, the only variations I can think of are "nah-troo-ruh-lee" and "nah-truh-lee", with the second version kind of omitting one of the syllables. As far as accents go, there are probably other words out there that are a lot more revealing.

And that sucks. :/ I hope they fix the issue soon, I wanna hear yours.

It's ok bout the Spanish, I'm a 4th generation Mexican-American living in California and people NEVER understand why me and my parents don't speak Spanish (they even more confused when I tell 'em I'm practically fluent in Japanese)....it's like, the idea of cultural assimilation and the fact that my GRANDMOTHER doesn't even really speak it is rendered moot...heh heh moooot

Sob so here I was reading this post and I got to this part and the first thing that crossed my mind was, "but that would NEVER HAPPEN!!" WAS THAT THE POINT FLYING UP OVER MY HEAD JUST NOW I think it was. XDDD

ANYWAY, I too think it is awesome, so yeah. Haha, it's good to know there's someone else in the "everyone always assumes that I speak Spanish even though I don't which gets really embarrassing at times" boat. XD I'm planning to learn it at some point just so I can stop getting into situations where people start talking to me in Spanish and I have to sheepishly explain that I have no fucking idea what they're saying.

Lol, and I did wonder how many people were pronouncing the 'e' at the end, Japanese-style. But that's my own fault for having such a weird username. (Truth is, I came up with it because one day I found a typo in a fortune cookie where the words "makes" and "the" were smooshed together, and I thought to myself, 'hey, there's a username in there somewhere' so I took it but I ditched the 'h' because it was just holding it back. So it's basically a made-up word that I arbitrarily chose a pronunciation for at random. XD)

Lol. Actually, in all my years here I've never known someone from Jersey to actually pronounce it as "Joisey." I think that's more of a Brooklyn thing, heh.

I had the chance to learn Spanish this last year as a (super) senior since my lovely adviser thought it necessary for us modern language majors to learn a *third* language for a year....

I was all for taking Italian...and yes, it's for the reason we both know and love...i was *SO* stoked....and then they canceled it......as well as Portuguese....as well as Arabic, Russian, Cantonese AND EVERY OTHER FUCKING LANGUAGE THAT WASN'T ASSOCIATED WITH A MAJOR!

*sigh* So it was a toss up between French and Spanish...and I realized that frankly I could probably just ask my friends to teach me it or just buy a cheaper version of Rosetta Stone.

Haha, and I wouldn't say that's much of a derp thing, really, given that the way I pronounce it is completely arbitrary. I can't even remember why I settled on that pronunciation now... I guess it just felt right or something. XD

Aww, too bad, I'd love to hear you do the meme (I'm having such a blast listening to everyone else's voices and accents). Maybe you could do a recording with a cell phone and try uploading that? I wonder if there are sites that let you do that... *ponder*

Sob, I wish I could say this was the first time my gender has been called into question on the Internet. ...or the second. Or the third. Or fourth. XD I DON'T KNOW WHAT IT IS but I have actually been mistaken for a guy a lot. ?? IT MUST BE MY MANLY AURA.

And I think that to do an LJ voice post you have to have a paid account (though, don't quote me on that?), but the site I used is actually free and super-easy to use, so you could just record something with that and post it.

Yeah, to be honest, if it was someone else's username and it was me trying to figure out how to say it, I'd automatically go with the Japanese pronunciation too, pronouncing the e as a separate syllable and putting the emphasis at the beginning of the name. I've gotten into the habit of doing that automatically for any name that I don't know the origin of. XD

Haha, number five was super easy. I should have punked everyone and said Byakuran. :P
