THE FOLLOWING EVENTS ARE TRUE EVENTS OF TRUTH THAT REALLY HAPPENED.

TRULY!

Actually, this is probably a boring story, but it's one of those things where you just have to rant about it once it's all over and done with, you know? It involves a flat tire, but it has a happy ending! READ ON TO LEARN MORE... or ignore me and continue to go about your daily business!

SO! I was at work working, and kinda in a :|ish mood because I just found out I have to work late on Friday night (baaaaaaalls), and our security guy came up to me and asked me if I have a black Corolla. I do indeed have a black Corolla so my first thought was "FFF am I illegally parked or something?" so I told him yes and he told me I had a flat tire.

PAUSE, REWIND, I forgot I have to tell you something else. I take/study/practice?? karate, which some of you might know already, and on Wednesday nights I actually teach a weapons class for some of the more advanced students in our dojo. Our regular class is from 6:30 to 7:30pm, and then the weapons class runs from 7:30 to 8:30. So getting a flat tire on a Wednesday night would already have meant an extra-special hassle for me because I would have had to cancel the class! HOWEVER. This week it was even worse because my sensei had given me a call a few days ago asking me if I could teach the main class as well because he wasn't going to be there. And I'd said yes, because on Monday I was still BLISSFULLY UNAWARE that my tire was going to crap out on me at 4pm on Wednesday afternoon (I should have known!). So now I was really panicked because if I couldn't make it we'd have to cancel both classes and there was really no way for us to contact all the students and let them know there was no class (we have about 100 students in our school, and anywhere from 40 to 60-70 of them will be there on a given night). NOOOOOO.

So in my mind I'm immediately thinking OMG WHO CAN I CALLLL so I called my dad and asked him if he could pick me up from work at 6pm and give me a ride to our dojo. And happily he was free and was able to do that! Awesome. NEXT STEP: Call my mom and ask if we still have AAA coverage. She said that we do! SWEET. So far so good.

So my dad drove me to the dojo and I made the announcement that we'd have our 6:30 class as usual but that I was canceling the weapons class afterward, and made sure that everyone had a ride home at 7:30. And we had our regular class and it was awesome and helped me to de-stress a lot. Then my dad gave me a ride back to his place BUT! He had to run off and do some errand or other so I needed to get a ride BACK to work so that I could call AAA and have them come out and change the flat.

So I called my sister, who was just on her way home from her first day of classes for this semester, and informed her of my unfortunate situation and asked if she could give me a ride back to work. And! She did. ;_; Which I really appreciated since she was already at school all freaking day and I know she must have been pretty :| herself about having to give me a ride. BUT SHE WAS COOL AND DROVE ME DOWN.

BUT! While I was waiting for her to get to my dad's to pick me up, I remembered that my spare tire is SUPER OLD and so rusted at this point that I think it has actually merged to become one with my trunk. So I didn't have a spare, NOOOOOOOO. Then I remembered that my brother also has a Corolla, so I called him up and asked him if he happened to have a spare. He said he'd just gotten a new donut about a year ago and had only used it once and it was in pretty good shape. So I asked him if he'd mind driving over to my office to meet me and my sister there so we could borrow his donut to use for my spare until I could get a new one. He agreed with only minimal reluctance, hooray!

SO WE GOT TO THE OFFICE AND I CALLED AAA AND THEY MET US THERE (like 45 minutes later cuz they got lost orz) AND THE GUY CHANGED OUT MY TIRE AND PUT MY BROTHER'S SPARE TIRE ON MY CAR AND WE DROVE HOME AND TOMORROW I AM GOING TO GO TO SEARS AND RELUCTANTLY SHELL OUT MY HARD-EARNED CASH TO GET NEW TIRES. Happy ending!

But what really made me happy about this in spite of all the stress is that my dad, mom, brother, and sister were all there to help me out at the last minute with my stupid car problems despite various inconveniences to them, and just! THAT MAKES ME FEEL WARM AND FUZZY INSIDE. And it reminded me that oh yeah, I LOVE MY FAMILY. T_T So I gave them all hugs afterward (or at least the ones that were available for hugging; the rest I will have to track down eventually and hug, and they'll think I'm weird because I'm normally like the least touchy-feely person ever lols), and then I sat down to write a long journal entry about my BORING ADVENTURES!, and now I am going to bed!! And tomorrow night after I get my new tires I'll sit down and finish memes and stuff.

GOOOOD NIIIIGHT EVERYOOOOONE~ ♥

Thanks super sweet and totally worth my time to read. AWESOME SUPPORTIVE FAMILY FTW!

They really saved my ass. I would have been so screwed if they didn't come to my rescue, heh. YAY FAMILY.

Aww, this was nice to read even though you got a flat tire.

I also read the majority of this thing in Ryohei's voice, for some reason o_O

[identity profile] makeste.livejournal.com 2011-01-21 01:31 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, like I said, at least it ended happily, so. XD

Lol, really? WAS IT THE ABUNDANCE OF CAPS THAT DID IT? I bet it was the abundance of caps.

Yes, actually, it was XD

[identity profile] makeste.livejournal.com 2011-01-21 02:06 am (UTC)(link)
OH YOU SILLY CAPS. They do have that effect. XD

Awesome family! *w* -envies you for it- XDD

[identity profile] makeste.livejournal.com 2011-01-21 01:34 am (UTC)(link)
Heh, after this, I really gotta stop taking them for granted all the time. WHOOPS. SORRY FAM, YOU'RE ACTUALLY PRETTY AWESOME AND DESERVE MORE APPRECIATION. I should take them out to dinner or send them obnoxiously cheerful e-cards or something. 8D 8D 8D--*shot*

[identity profile] reidluver.livejournal.com 2011-01-20 06:50 am (UTC)(link)
Awww! :) How touching. We still like hearing about your normal life. XD That's great that they were all able to help you AND that you were able to get things worked out with your car.

Cool! Karate? That's awesome! I've taken a few Ju-jitsu lessons. And what kind of weapons do you instruct about? Kubotan? Cuz I have one with my apartment key and thousands of random keychains. That thing is deadly.

[identity profile] makeste.livejournal.com 2011-01-21 01:45 am (UTC)(link)
Thanks! ♥

We still like hearing about your normal life. XD

LOL, sometimes when I'm typing up RL ramblings I start thinking to myself, "DOES ANYONE EVEN CARE OH GOD I'M PROBABLY BORING THEM TO DEATH XDD", so thank you for that! It actually makes me feel a lot better, heh.

AND SINCE YOU ASK, out of the weapons listed here, we train with the bo, sai, nunchaku, tonfa (although we're pretty crap with the tonfa; we had an instructor visit us once and spend an hour and a half teaching us how to use the weapon and guiding us through one kata, so whatever I've retained since then is pretty much the extent of my tonfa experience XD), kama, and eku. Plus I've studied a little Iaido, which is by far the coolest weapons-related thing I've ever trained in, and I feel like Yamamoto every time I pick up a bokken even though he could slice me to ribbons before I could even draw if we ever sparred (LOOK AT ME TALKING ABOUT HIM LIKE HE'S A REAL PERSON XD), heh. The ones I actually teach (and the ones I'm most familiar with) are just the bo, sai, and nunchaku, though. I don't even have a kubotan, although one of my fellow black belts keeps one on her keychain and knows a little kubotan self-defense. It's pretty cool, I'm just afraid of getting one and then getting arrested for forgetting and bringing it to an airport or something. XD

[identity profile] reidluver.livejournal.com 2011-01-21 08:36 am (UTC)(link)
Sweet! They look awesome. Wouldn't want to meet you in a dark alley. XD

Haha! IT'S OKAY--I FEEL THEY'RE REAL, TOO! AND I ACT LIKE THEY'RE MY FRIENDS SO I ACTUALLY HAVE SOME! ;P

[identity profile] umi-no-suzume.livejournal.com 2011-01-20 07:50 am (UTC)(link)
I would have freaked out so bad.
And your family is really awesome

[identity profile] makeste.livejournal.com 2011-01-21 01:48 am (UTC)(link)
I WAS FREAKING OUT AT FIRST, BELIEVE ME. Probably the only reason I didn't turn into a complete mess was because I was just trying to figure out how to solve one issue at a time--get to the dojo, then get a ride back, then get the spare, then get someone to come change it out, etc. It helped keep me from getting too overwhelmed, thankfully.

That, and there was the aforementioned family being heroic heroes. THAT HELPED TOO. Yeah. XD

Oh man, I fucking love happy family adventure stories. They fill me with fuzzy goodness and positive thoughts about humanity, as well as remind me that my own life would be completely devoid of any regular human functionality were it not for my family's awesome.

Families are kind of the winnest thing ever.

ROCK ON, MAKESTE'S FAMILY. STAY COOL.

And yeah, thanks for brightening my day with this.

[identity profile] makeste.livejournal.com 2011-01-21 01:50 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I love my family a lot; they generally help keep me from going completely insane, and yeah, like you said, it does give you some hope for humanity yet when you're surrounded by awesome people who give a shit about you. So much ♥ for them, man, and not just my family. LET'S HEAR IT FOR ALL THE AWESOME FAMILIES IN THE WORLD. \o\ \o/ /o/

[identity profile] chibikaya.livejournal.com 2011-01-20 08:40 am (UTC)(link)
Your family is so nice! XD

[identity profile] makeste.livejournal.com 2011-01-21 01:51 am (UTC)(link)
THEY ARE! I seriously have to think of some good way to thank them properly after this. THEY WERE MY HEROES FOR A DAY. ;_;

[identity profile] morgrix.livejournal.com 2011-01-20 12:37 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, this is so nice! They really deserve a good hug, because I can tell that it's hard to find a family so willing to help like yours!

[identity profile] makeste.livejournal.com 2011-01-21 01:53 am (UTC)(link)
Lol, I'm still shocked that even my brother helped me out so obligingly (well, for him XD). Definitely gotta come up with something nice to do to thank them. They saved my neck at the last minute! THEY HAVE LIKE. AMANO TIMING. :O

[identity profile] pestetada.livejournal.com 2011-01-20 03:17 pm (UTC)(link)
Awww. That's so nice~ \o\

[identity profile] makeste.livejournal.com 2011-01-21 02:01 am (UTC)(link)
Heh, thanks. I'm just relieved it's over with now and that it worked in the end. And thank heavens for family, that's all I can say. ♥

[identity profile] snowpoison.livejournal.com 2011-01-20 07:38 pm (UTC)(link)
awww, this was so sweet. so nice of your family to help you out even though it's sort of a given? idk

so, i feel that it was nice learning a little about you! so it adds to the small bank of knowledge i have of you, hehehe. i love the way you told your little story, all your BUT! and NOOOOOOs was cute. silly me even imagined the expressions and the way you would say it... /stalkerish/

[identity profile] makeste.livejournal.com 2011-01-21 02:05 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I mean if any of them had refused I would have been like OH FUCK YOU ARE YOU SERIOUS, IT'S THE MIDDLE OF WINTER AND I'M STRANDED AND I'M YOUR FUCKING SISTER FOR FUCK'S SAKE, so they couldn't really, but they also did it with no bitching or grumbling (even though I know it was seriously inconvenient; I'd have been annoyed if I were them) and didn't make me feel guilty or anything, and I'm just really grateful for that.

And lol, I'm glad I didn't bore you! XD Heh, that's how I always tell stories like this, too. Partly because I am trying so hard not to bore people, so I guess the effort was at least a partial success, heh. ♥
