Hibari Kyoya can cut scissors with paper!

So, after last week's translation issues (oh Spade, why does everything that comes out of your mouth cause trouble?), I was going to wait until IEM released KHR 323 instead of going with MS/BT's version again. But wouldn't you know it, here it is, 8 p.m. on a Sunday night and still no sign of it! So I will just go ahead and bite the bullet, because like hell if I have the willpower to wait another whole day to read this.

1. For anyone who wasn't paying attention last week or simply forgot everything that happened in the previous chapter for some reason, this cover page serves as a reminder that Hibari recently got his bite on by killing 500 ice chicks without breaking a sweat. Hibari! Oh, you~!

And now to press forward toward the conclusion of this fight, which will hopefully answer one of the great questions of our time: What pumps you up for a fight more, watching your beloved boss suffer horrific fever dreams from the traumatic memories inflicted on him by your current enemy, or flying to the scene of said fight in a motherfucking helicopter?

2. Dude, what. The ice clones regenerated? Well, that takes some of the satisfaction out of it. I like Hibari's little :/ face sans-eyebrows in the center panel. It's like, "Maaaaan, are you kidding me?" And then in the bottom right he's all, "WELL THEY DON'T COUNT ANYWAY." Sure they don't, Hibari, WHATEVER MAKES YOU FEEL BETTER.

Hello again, Adelheid's boobs! I see you so often these days, I feel like you've become almost like another member of the family.

3. Okay, as far as translations go, the sentence "HE IS A STRONG MAN, BEARING THE SADNESS OF THE SIMON!" goes a long, long way toward making up for all of that reincarnation confusion last week. Especially given Enma's Eeyore-esque personality. Idk, I just cracked up.

However, Hibari, I hardly think it's fair to apply the "CRY MOAR" argument to Enma here. I'm just saying, no one murdered your little sister, dude. Back off!

Or else you are going to have a crowd (a crowd!) of angry fangirls on your heels, and do you really want to deal with that? Do you?

4. Apparently he does! Damn you, Hibari, you continue to be a character who lives as he pleases without fear of consequences. No wonder I never know what to do with you in fic.

Though Amano certainly knows how to make the most of your unique qualities. Spiky tonfa, goddamn! It's like Ganauche and his exploding gun all over again! PURE SHOUNEN, MY FRIENDS.

5. Tsuna's eye at the bottom of this page is just so, so sad and pretty that... what? There's other stuff going on? Whatever, get back to me when the urge to hug this little man subsides.

6. "It didn't budge!" Yeah, Gokudera... that's why she said it was impenetrable. I know you guys are used to Hibari doing the impossible on a regular basis and all, but damn it, you're shocked when he does crazy things and shocked when he doesn't? MAKE UP YOUR MINDS.

7. HOLY SHIT, HE FINALLY STOPPED AND TOOK A BREATH FOR A SECOND. DUDE YOU ARE A MACHINE. And Binktopia made Reborn say "Yikes"! I LOLED.

And between Tsuna, Gokudera, and Adelheid, the number of pretty shocked face panels in this chapter is so deliciously high, it's starting to make me giddy.

See?! Just look! And ignore the part where this time the reason they're shocked is because Hibari is waxing poetic about small animals. As previously mentioned, anything Hibari says or does elicits awed reactions.

8. Like breaking Adelheid's unbreakable defense! From the inside! Somehow! Everyone is so astounded, as if Hibari hadn't long ago made implausibility his bitch. Come on, guys, one of these days you're just going to have to start shrugging and blindly accepting it.

9. I, by contrast, have no idea how in the fuck he managed to pull this off, but do you see me pulling my hair out and permanently affixing my jaw into :O mode? No, indeed!

Instead, I'm going to go sit in a corner and sulk over the fact that Adelheid lost. 8(

10. "YOU TRULY ARE A FLOATING CLOUD UNCONTROLLABLE BY ANY BEING..." Okay, Amano, seriously, this doesn't count as character development. You are just repeating statements we've been hearing on and off since the Varia arc! That is lazy and cheap! What I was hoping for was some sort of backstory at long last, or at the very least, the slightest hint that Hibari has since the beginning of the series grown in some way, shape, or form as a person!

...

...oh, fine, I guess I can settle for that.

WINNING ME OVER WITH SHINY PANELS AND THE VAGUEST HINTS AT SOME SORT OF UNSPOKEN SHOUNEN BOND BETWEEN TWO CHARACTERS AGAIN, AMANO! BUT ONE OF THESE DAYS I'M NOT GOING TO CAVE SO QUICKLY... damn it. XD

ETA: Also, Happy Birthday to [livejournal.com profile] caddles, [livejournal.com profile] jote_jote, [livejournal.com profile] daigranon, and [livejournal.com profile] makemegray! ♥

IEM I understand is having trouble with their raw provider, which delays their translations.

[identity profile] makeste.livejournal.com 2011-01-31 01:10 am (UTC)(link)
Fair enough, fair enough! And I'm looking forward to their release, whenever they're able to get it out.

[identity profile] ekmisao.livejournal.com 2011-01-31 03:11 am (UTC)(link)
So am I, so am I. ^^

[identity profile] amberrei.livejournal.com 2011-01-31 03:54 pm (UTC)(link)
Same here, their translations are ALWAYS quality.

[identity profile] reidluver.livejournal.com 2011-01-31 01:21 am (UTC)(link)
Pfffft. Yeah--Reborn saying "Yikes"? Never gonna happen. Totally cracked up at that. And I was incredibly saddened that Suzuki lost. :( I mean--she was supposed to be a major antagonist for the Shimon Family! I HAVE NO IDEA WHERE THIS STORY IS HEADING TOWARDS NOW BUT I GUESS THAT COULD BE A GOOD THING???

Hello again, Adelheid's boobs! I see you so often these days, I feel like you've become almost like another member of the family.

-sigh- I love you makeste. <3

[identity profile] makeste.livejournal.com 2011-01-31 02:23 am (UTC)(link)
I wonder if he might ever say it sort of sarcastically, like in a very droll, unimpressed way. "Yikes. :|"

And I guess Amano must be building up to some sort of finale where Enma has lost absolutely everything and is just totally unhinged, and Tsuna is crippled by the maximum amount of guilt possible. So far not a single Simon family member has emerged from his or her pride battle unscathed, whereas Tsuna's only lost Ryohei (Ryohei! T_T) so far. For Enma that's got to be like rubbing salt and lemon juice onto a wound that's already raw. So it's kind of odd, but the more the Simon family loses, the more powerful Enma actually grows as an antagonist. At this rate the final battle is going to be off-the-charts epic.

And lol, thank you. WHAT CAN I SAY, THOSE HAVE BECOME VERY FAMILIAR BREASTS.

[identity profile] reidluver.livejournal.com 2011-01-31 04:27 am (UTC)(link)
RYOHEI!!! *cry*

THEY SURE HAVE! I FEEL LIKE I KNOW THEM BETTER THAN I KNOW MY OWN!

[identity profile] amberrei.livejournal.com 2011-01-31 01:44 am (UTC)(link)
I honestly found development in two sentences: the one at the end and the one describing my baby Enma. Still, until we get something about his past, Hibari remains quite flat anyways...

I'm dying for 324. FLASHBACK, FINALLY. ;A;

[identity profile] makeste.livejournal.com 2011-01-31 02:37 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I'm still kind of annoyed that there was so little development that we kind of have to grasp at and analyze these weird little metaphors of his in order to get anything at all. Kinda feels like Amano being a tease like usual. XD

And that's right, next up is flashback # 4! ...AND THEN AFTER THAT YAMAMOTO'S FIGHT??! HOLY SHIIIT oh my God I just got so psyched you would not believe it *_*

[identity profile] amberrei.livejournal.com 2011-01-31 03:45 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, either Hibari is meant to be that way... or he's going to make some motherfucking revelation in another 100 chapters that will make us shit bricks. Not sure.

IKR? I'm hyper excited this week. I hope ohana will post the spoilers on wednesday this time, though.

Blah blah, Hibari is invicible. But at least Tsuna looks like he's coming out of the BSoD.

[identity profile] makeste.livejournal.com 2011-01-31 02:42 am (UTC)(link)
It took a helicopter, a sexy ice army brawl, and more nature metaphors than you can shake a stick at, but yes, he appears to be snapping out of it at last. Of course, if the next flashback is what I think it will be, the guilt might just snap him right back in. XD

Still, one good thing about Adelheid losing (bawwww) is that the fight's over now and we can get back to plot. BYAKURAN AND YAMAMOTO, WHERE ART THOOOOU.

[identity profile] ekmisao.livejournal.com 2011-01-31 02:45 am (UTC)(link)
I don't want to know what forces beyond him have done, no no no, la la la la la la la. ^^;;;

[identity profile] makeste.livejournal.com 2011-01-31 03:01 am (UTC)(link)
He's Yamamoto! He'll be fine! ROBOT LEGS, I WANT TO SEE THE ROBOT LEGS. Or whatever other miracle cure Byakuran has bestowed upon him. I know there were concerns about Zombiemoto going around, but I like to think that even Amano would not be so shameless as to pull that zombie bullshit with two main(...ish) characters in the same arc. Besides, it wouldn't fit the jesused-villains-returning-in-the-next-arc-to-help-the-main-character-for-some-reason trope if Byakuran fucked around with Yamamoto too much.

...And seriously, it's Yamamoto! STEADY, TRANQUIL RAIN and all that... nah, he'll be all right in the end. I MUST BELIEVE.

[personal profile] way2dawn 2011-01-31 02:46 am (UTC)(link)
Omg, I am so excited for the next flashback. Even if it does end up just making things worse again D:

I was kinda upset that Adelheid lost, too. I was hoping it was gonna be another tie. And probably the next fight is gonna have Byakuran and Yamamoto, since Chrome is still kinda... not there :|

But the helicopter was nice crack; I'll give Amano that.

[identity profile] daigranon.livejournal.com 2011-01-31 02:55 am (UTC)(link)
I agree.. this doesn't count as development.. *see my journal rant from a few days ago* I'm STILL waiting for backstory, or at least a reason as to why he's so attached to Namimori in the first place.

Thanks for bday wishes, dear! &hearts hug

[identity profile] makeste.livejournal.com 2011-01-31 03:25 am (UTC)(link)
I know, I was really disappointed in that respect. And yet, Hibari does have a massive and devoted fanbase, and I know a lot of them consider his mysteriousness to be part of his appeal, so I guess Amano just doesn't want to risk screwing that up by revealing too much about him. It's starting to drive me crazy, but oh well. At least we got something.

*hug!* Hope you had a great day. ♥

[identity profile] ekmisao.livejournal.com 2011-01-31 03:37 am (UTC)(link)
I think that's one of the last bastion of secrets, along with the Arcobaleno backstory (of which I suspect Hibari is connected with, since Fon has admitted a relation to him in a Haruharu interview in manga).

[identity profile] mecomptane.livejournal.com 2011-01-31 02:58 am (UTC)(link)
......ADELHEID, NO, GDI. :| I AM NOT IMPRESSED. (Hibari, ilu, but would it kill you to lose once?!)

I will admit that the back and forth between Adelheid and Hibari re: Enma and small, fluffy animals was amazing and basically made this chapter for me. Lolwtf, you guys. And that last page, yes. Especially the addendum of "will be bitten to death anyways". XD

324 = FLAAAASHBAAAAAACK!!!!! SO EXCITED. I hope it's something good, otherwise Adel will join the ranks of those who were left in the dark. Literally and metaphorically, as it were. I hope it's something good, anyways. IT SHOULD HAVE GIOTTO AND/OR COZART, LIKE THIS CAN POSSIBLY GO WRONG.

I... am getting kind of worried? Sort of? Largely about what's going to happen with Chrome (sob) and Mocchan (SOB) and Byakuran (...IHNI, actually). But mostly Enma and Tsuna. Because I am a horrible person who only cares the main character and current antagonist. (And Gokudera, but his battle has already been resolved. ...and Yamamoto, but as stated above, we're coming to that sooner rather than later, anyways.) Has Tsuna learned anything from watching this fight? Besides that Hibari's still apparently invincible? How will Enma react when Adel isn't there when he wakes up? I AM SO WORRIED.

(And. Um. In a way, I want the Inheritance Arc to be like TYL. Because at least then we'd be basically guaranteed a Prison Break mini-Arc after these battles, like we got Choice after the Melone Base. PRISON BREAK. IN ITALY. <3)

[identity profile] makeste.livejournal.com 2011-01-31 03:42 am (UTC)(link)
I KNOW, SO SAD. :(

One day we'll get a shounen battle where the dialogue isn't filled with bizarre metaphors and/or "GRRR I WILL DEFEAT YOU!!" battle cries. And on that day, I will be so confused I'll hardly even know what to do with myself.

FLASH! OMG YES. It will have Primos, AND YOU CAN'T GO WRONG WITH FUCKING PRIMOS. I have a feeling we're close to seeing the last of the happy, fluffy flashbacks, though. Soon we're going to hit the angst and hopefully, violence!, and then things will really jump up a notch HOPEFULLY.

And yeah, I'm worried too, but in a sort of half-cringing, half on-the-edge-of-my-seat-with-excitement sort of way. XD It's like, "OH NO, TSUNA AND ENMA AND THEIR SUFFERING!... >_>... 8D" *is a terrible person!!* (I am honestly freaking out about what's going to happen to Enma now that it's just him and Spade and Kaoru left, though. NOT GOOD.)

(Hmm, I could see that happening, where the arc gets broken up into a few mini arcs before they finally take on the overarching villain, Mr. Spade. We're gradually approaching some sort of climax, at any rate; once Yamamoto's fight is over and done with, it's just Tsuna and Enma and then Spade left to deal with. So either the whole arc will end after that, or we'll leave off with a cliffhanger and UNFINISHED BUSINESS to put off while they go on their Vindice rescue mission first.

Also, PRISON BREAK IN ITALY DO WAAAAANT.)

[identity profile] lodelco.livejournal.com 2011-01-31 04:45 am (UTC)(link)
I like Hibari. He said himself the he never gives up so he can be proud. So it wouldn't matter what Adelheid throws at him because he'll still find a way to beat her. But truth be told I can see that Adelheid is potentially, if not actually stronger, than Hibari. I think she just wasted her time and energy with Five Hundred Regenerating Ice Clones. Maybe just make a few hundred with brains and use the rest to fortify her castle. Her weakness was her overconfidence and when you're battling Hibari confident is the last thing you want to be.

I think Spade is going to pull something. The only time Hibari lost was to Mukuro who was a mist user. Spade is a hundred times worse that Mukuro.

Truth is that I didn't like Hibari before because his devotion to Namimori seems like a joke and his penchant for cute critters seems totally contradictory. But the truth is that he's just noble. He knows that simply beating bad guys is not enough and that if he enforces 'discipline' he can minimize the amount of bad guys showing up. I guess he likes cute critters because he knows that even though they're small they still hold a lot of power. Guess him calling Tsuna a small animal isn't as insutling as it seems.

[identity profile] azartti.livejournal.com 2011-01-31 06:22 am (UTC)(link)
/butts in and seconds all of this.

I like Aldeheid and I would love to see any girl in KHR kick some ass. And I was personally quite disappointed when she locked herself up in the ice castle, I was hoping a body match, that way she would have beaten Hibari.

[identity profile] makeste.livejournal.com 2011-01-31 01:26 pm (UTC)(link)
Agree with just about everything you said, and damn if it wasn't early in the morning and I wasn't in a rush, I would sit down and character essay back at you, because I really like that last observation of yours especially. That he enforces discipline to keep the bad guys in line before they ever even become a problem. That's a really nice insight, and if Amano is being stingy with her own Hibari insights I'll gladly accept some good ones from the fandom. <3

Hibari's lost three times as far as I can recall--to Shamal, Mukuro, and Enma at the beginning of this arc. But yeah, out of those defeats, Mukuro was definitely the most brutal, and if he's considered to be Spade's "second coming", I hate to think what the original could do. Then again, Spade is poised to screw everyone over, so at least Hibari will be in good company. XD

And sigh, poor Adelheid. I agree, she didn't use her abilities to their greatest potential. Amano's kind of treating her like Gokudera, it seems--dumbing them down when in reality (lol) their abilities would be practically unstoppable.

...and I still don't get how Roll managed to penetrate an impenetrable fortress from the inside, but whatever. XDD

[identity profile] demoerin.livejournal.com 2011-01-31 05:15 pm (UTC)(link)
At one point in chapter 322 Hibari was flicking around these little ... hedgehog bits, which acted like bombs. I'm assuming he managed to flick some of the bits into the cracks he made in the castle. There is a kind of logic to the fight after all!

[identity profile] lodelco.livejournal.com 2011-02-01 01:50 am (UTC)(link)
When Hibari was hitting the castle I assumed he inserted nano-sized Rolls in the process and caused them to expand.*shrug*

Adelheid and Gokudera are similar in a way aren't they? Both of them are dedicated to their boss and have a tendency to act all smug like. Also, while both really are potentially powerful fighters they let their emotions get in the way which more or less screws them over. The difference I think is that Gokudera's been humbled over and over again while I don't think Adelheid's ever lost before.

[identity profile] azartti.livejournal.com 2011-01-31 06:22 am (UTC)(link)
For once I'm more than happy to know that in two weeks we'll have some YAMAMOTO!! QSDHFQDFJSW

[identity profile] makeste.livejournal.com 2011-01-31 01:26 pm (UTC)(link)
Maybe even next week, if Amano decides to end 324 with a good old-fashioned cliffhanger again. 8D 8D *COUNTING DOWN THE DAAAAAYS*

[identity profile] azartti.livejournal.com 2011-02-01 08:22 am (UTC)(link)
Ah the good old cliffhangers. I would die happy with one of them. *counts down with you* 8DD

[identity profile] storm-obsession.livejournal.com 2011-01-31 10:56 am (UTC)(link)
NOOOO! Okay, so I'm glad it wasn't an INSTANT win...but it was still a win. So Hibari's percentage of winning is 99.9% (because some don't count that fight with Mukuro)...
And GAH what is it with the 1827 hints. X_X

[identity profile] makeste.livejournal.com 2011-01-31 01:29 pm (UTC)(link)
He lost to Shamal and Enma too (maybe a few others, but like Enma they probably would have been group losses so I can't really recall them even if they do count... which is debatable), but yeah. TOO MUCH. Hibari, try having a weakness one of these days!!

Heh, Amano was really laying it on thick in this chapter, wasn't she? I enjoyed it, though; I previously felt like there wasn't really that much in the manga hinting at 1827, but the last couple of chapters alone sure made up for lost time. Now that there's some canon basis I might even go out and find some fic. I'm hungry for anything that might give me some more insight into Cloudy Decimo all of a sudden. :P

[identity profile] kat8cha.livejournal.com 2011-01-31 03:47 pm (UTC)(link)
Shhhhhhhhh. Let Amano admire Hibari's cloudness. Consistently. Forever.

OH HIBARI. YOU ARE A CLOUD. And yes, that whole 'it's the sky' thing made me go 'b'aw, b'aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaw'.

And awwwww those tiny adorable animals that you love, Hibari. Does that make all those doujinshi where Hibari considers Tsuna a small animal and has sex with him canon?

[identity profile] snowpoison.livejournal.com 2011-01-31 06:19 pm (UTC)(link)
this chapter made me smile and made me break out in some sort of sweat. how adelheid lost like that is so very... unlikely? like, she just gave up because he broke the ice shield thingy.

i just want next chapter.

and i want a twist.

AM I ASKING FOR TOO MUCH I WONDER

Thank you!!!

And LOL at the review!!

[identity profile] metisket.livejournal.com 2011-02-01 05:46 am (UTC)(link)
I am SUCH A BAD HIBARI FAN, I really wanted him to lose. Can you imagine his FACE if he'd lost? LULZ FOR LIFE. And Adelheid would have smirked! I wanted to see the smirk!

Although...that would've been bad for Tsuna. Probably really bad for Tsuna. Hmmm.

Haha, but if he'd lost, he really would have had to get character development, maybe even backstory...and it's kind of cracking me up, how long he's been the only major character with ZERO backstory. Because that is exactly the way he'd want it. XD

Anyway, at this point, I've totally made up my own backstory for him and will be disappointed when Amano eventually gets around to crushing all my theories. ;_;

MAYBE Chrome will randomly turn on Spade and rip his throat out next chapter! I could even stand to wait a little longer for Yamamoto if that happened! :D :D :D COME ON CHROME, HE DOESN'T NEED HIS THROAT.
