Meanwhile, Yamamoto is making faces and musical notes that leave me suddenly questioning my previously certain stance on the "is there some potentially horrifying Byakuran-related twist looming on the horizon" issue. ... Well, Tsuna still isn't detecting creepy vibes, so for now I'll just hope that his hyper intuition is as refined as his ancestor's.

6. Okay, forget what I said earlier about Yamamoto. I had a moment of doubt brought on by my knee-jerk suspicion of people that talk with musical notes. But his reaction toward Kaoru's imprisonment has convinced me of his Yama purity once again. 100% YAMA, NO ARTIFICIAL INGREDIENTS.

Gotta hand it to Spade; having finally regained his cool, he is making quite the valiant effort to act as though none of that "RARGGHGH PRIMO HOW DARE YOUUUUU /CRAZY EYES" shit ever happened. But dude, we all saw it. It was only like 5 pages ago. And you know we are never going to let you live it down.

9. Side note: I would just like to say that Tsuna and Gokudera's reactions amuse the hell out of me. First the "OMG WHAT, A TWELFTH FORM??!" like it's so shocking for Yamamoto to have come up with yet ANOTHER Shigure Souen kata right on the spot. And now this "D: HE'S TALKING ABOUT GENKISHI!!" with those adorable wide-eyed faces. Oh, kids.

Not that I can blame them. Yamamoto, you're such a fucking badass. Perhaps your only weakness is the fact that instead of using this amazing technique to defeat your enemy, you are instead making conversation with said enemy while disclosing all of said technique's secrets. But it's not your fault that the shounen runs strong in your family.

'Nother side note: The closeups of mist and blank space while invisible Spade says things like "nufufu" are also cracking me up.

And with an ending page straight out of fucking Bleach (seriously, that one off-center panel framed with the black on either side? Is slick as all get-out), I guess this chapter is a wrap.

And oh crap--Yama's face scared me a bit there. Along with the fact that he said outright "KILL" the fiend. Not maim him, not knock him unconscious--but freakin' KILL him! He sure don't think this is a game anymore!

I spent the whole chapter gulping down my fangirl noises and trying not to choke but HOT DAMN THAT KID YAMAMOTO CAN BE PRETTY BADASS AND AWESOME when he's not on the verge of death.

I'm so torn about Yamamoto. On the one hand, I'm all for this whole natural-born-hitman-imma-fuck-you-up face, but on the other hand... If Amano doesn't explain this major change in characterization, I'll throw a fit.

I'm still torn about Yamamoto... Because of "♪". IDK, but KHR has made me paranoid about ♪. I blame Dicky McDick (aka Byakuran).

Also, this is a complete jump in characterization that simply does not make sense. Pissed off about a friend? Oh yes, he's been that before. Actively promising murder and just going for it? Not at all like Yamamoto. Remember, he's the guy who's spent most of this series thinking that they're playing a game.

Well, according to the Corner's Translation Note, he doesn't say "kill" in japanese, he says "kiru" which means "to cut". Usually there isn't much of a difference, semantically speaking, principally in shounen. He's promising to cut that bitch down. But there's still a softening element to it; Yamamoto may well slice and dice through Spade, but only until he vacates Julie or something.

I did not see that translation note. ^^;;; Hmm... now I want to take a look at the raw. XD

AS MUCH AS I LOVE AND ADORE THE ORIGINAL, I WAS NEVER THAT INTERESTED IN THE SEQUEL. XD

Well, I think it was because I just loved the series as it was, so I just didn't want a continuation. Especially when it doesn't focus on the characters I feel in love with. ^^'

But Hamel and the others are still part of the new tale. Not only do they show up again - first in flashbacks, then in omakes, and in recent chapters, actually spearheading the plot - they also pretty much shaped the world the tale is taking place in, what with having saved it. There are constant references to them and the "War of the North", and a lot of expectation was put on Hamel's children. Also, no one seems aware that Hamel's children are also Flute the Queen's children, which pinges my Plot Sense something fierce.

As a fan, I always wondered what the Hameln world would be like in the epilogue, with the Victorious Queen basically living as a peasant in the middle of nowhere, having a ton of children, and a regent running things in her place. Hameln fandom as it is, though, nobody cared about any of that... and Shchelkunchik is giving me these answers. And I'm damn impressed with them.

I honestly think "kill" is too strong a word for the translation here. He used "kiru" (which, all jokes of it sounding like "kill" aside) means he wants to cut Daemon up pretty bad, maybe kill him, but the point is he'll defeat Daemon with his blades. No, if Yama starts spouting "korosu", I'll be worried. But in this case, it's just a translation liberty (taken again by Mangastream). I'd say it's something like "cut him down" or "defeat him".

The only times I can even remotely like Yamamoto are when he's pissed off. And LOL yes Bleach last page!

And this week we get another special of Typical Reborn: the woman gets defeated, and, crying, asks Tsuna to do what they can't.

You know, when everyone started asking the wind "then what happened to Cozart?", I was about to jump up and scream HOLY SHIT HE BECAME THE VINDICARE. Why? Well, behind Adelheid's reaction shot in page 6 there was that Vendice hole, and... it just jumped out at me.

So, my new crack theory: Cozart founded Vindicare/Vendice Prison. I called it first.

And here I was hoping that since they'd let Adelheid stick around for two fights already that the Vindice would forget she existed and she'd be stuck in that bondagey-form for the rest of the fight. Man she's awesome.
And I notice that this chapter was so awesome you forgot to comment about how her boobs are against, showing too much.
But what happened in this chapter is so sweet, coming from her, that I'll forgive all that chest-flashin' she's done in the ...entire arc.

Speaking of which, is it just me or is Amano deliberately avoiding interaction between Yamamoto and Gokudera? I mean, all Gokudera has been doing is silently fuming and makes remarks in passing. I dunno, it may be just me. *shrug*

yes! Both these things are marvellous. If you've got to have reaction-faces, then it should be for a dramatic moment like this. it's also nice that people actually look distinct here, 'cos sometimes you just can't tell the gaping faces apart. And the roller coaster of revelations is fun.

Yamamoto had his little speech about "But Genkishi, the Vongola aren't killers! :))" in the Future Arc, and Tsuna, Reborn, and Gokudera aren't awed or terrified enough themselves, as they ought to be be if they thought Yamamoto was actively out to kill.
