ITP: OHHHHHH

MYYYYYYYYY

1. Well, this is certainly one of the more underwhelming covers I've seen in terms of art quality, but that doesn't mean it's lacking in entertainment. For one thing, it's a much clearer view of all of Enma's wtfery than we got last week (and his flame does look like a penis, [livejournal.com profile] merryrainbow, you were right! I SEE IT NOW ;_;), and for another, it provides us with the first really hilarious reaction panel we've gotten in this entire arc (not counting the rooftop battle between Hibari and Adelheid). I love Gokudera's face. I love Ryohei's face. But most of all, I love the fact that Chrome is so short that her face got cut off. XDDDD I keep clicking back to it and giggling. THERE HAD BETTER BE ICONS.

Enma's hand has its own orbit. Dude.

2. Tsuna, apparently having missed the page in the last chapter where he asked, "The ones who hurt Yamamoto...?" and Enma replied, "Yeah, that was us," asks, "You're the ones who hurt Yamamoto?!" and Enma replies, "Yeah, that's right, Tsuna-kun." Tsuna again shouts, "WHY?!", and I'm pretty sure Morpheus said that when this happens it means there's a glitch in the Matrix, so I hope the guardians are extra careful.

3. Wow, really? "Rightful atonement?" Enma, suddenly I want to punch you really hard. At least Adelheid gave a real, non-bullshit explanation for attacking him. Geez.

Does anyone else notice that the Ninth is suddenly becoming the new Basil? Come on, man, even Tsuna is holding it together better than you. No wonder you got kidnapped.

4. EXPOSITION PAGE! |D Blah blah Shimon Rings, blah blah earthquake, blah blah Shimon Cozart, blah blah pretty, pretty Enma. I mean, blah blah Sin. Yes.

How the hell did the Vongola not know exactly whose blood they were passing down to each new generation in their super important inheritance ceremonies? CHRIST YOU GUYS FAIL SO HARD. Were they just like, "HERE, IT'S SOME GUY'S BLOOD, I GUESS? IDK BUT I'M SUPPOSED TO GIVE IT TO YOU, THAT'S WHAT IT SAYS IN THE VONGOLA MANUAL"?

--oh my God that's exactly what they did. 8| "How foolish of you, Nono." AND HOW. You tell him, Adelheid. I think her boobs inflate a little whenever she gets into the full swing of exposition.

5. ...actually, on second thought, given the sheer number of ridiculous Vongola traditions, I can kind of understand why no one bothered to look into the history behind this one. Anyway, so Adelheid takes it upon herself to explain that long ago, Vongola Primo and Shimon Primo were buddies, until Vongola "Protect the townspeople and fight for our loved ones without abusing our power" Primo tried to conquer Europe (...) using the Shimon family as bait (......). FOR SOME REASON THE SHIMON FAMILY AGREED TO THIS (???!), but then when the time came, the Vongola never showed and Cozart basically got drawn and quartered, holy shit.

And this would explain why Enma chose to test Tsuna in the same manner, and why his little shota heart was ripped to pieces when Tsuna never showed up either. Okay, so maybe he has reason to be pissed. A little.

6. But then he goes way too far by assigning Tsuna blame simply because he's loosely descended from the guy who supposedly did all this. I like that Gokudera immediately takes offense, because if anyone would know what it's like to be held responsible for the sins of your parents/ancestors, it's him.

Unfortunately, Tsuna makes two mistakes here that I can see. First, he incorrectly states that he doesn't have the ability to find out what really happened between the Vongola and the Shimon (TIME TRAVELING RINGS, HELLO), and second, he leaps to Primo's defense without any evidence, and also ignoring the fact that THIS MAY NOT BE THE BEST WAY TO ACHIEVE DIPLOMACY AT THIS MOMENT. Just because Giotto has always appeared to be polite and well-groomed does not mean he was not capable of dickishness (in fact, judging by Mukuro and Byakuran, it almost makes it more likely). Granted, he's probably right, but I still think shouting it in Enma's face was probably a bad call.

7. Yeah, it seems to have pissed them off further. What a surprise.

So the Shimon family declares Enma to be the Tenth Shimon Boss (which for some reason takes everyone by surprise), and then Enma says that he's going to take over the mafia and regain the pride of the Shimon. Again, nothing that was even remotely unexpected.

8. Fortunately, Adelheid saves the day by giving us what we've really been waiting for this entire chapter: FANSERVICE. Oh. Hell. Yes. Coyote has the absolute funniest reaction anyone could ever possibly have (seriously, did anyone else laugh out loud? Because I pretty much died), and Tsuna's all, "Heeeeeeell no, here it goes," and then everything fucking explodes. And Gokudera saves the day (you're welcome, Nonos). And I just became so completely aroused it's not even funny.

9. Does anyone else find it both odd and hilarious that Chrome is still bothering to keep the Yamamoto illusion intact? CALL ME CRAZY, BUT I THINK THEY MAY BE ON TO YOU, CHROME.

10. Yaaaaaay, the Earth flame spoilers were right. NOW WE CAN SPEND THE ENTIRE NEXT WEEK SPECULATING ON WHAT THE EARTH FLAME COUNTERPARTS TO THE SKY FLAMES ARE. And also making comparisons to X/1999. Which, as I said in the comm, I am almost positive that Amano is now shamelessly ripping off. |D

Final thoughts:

  • They do look like Gundams. :O
  • ahhhh ahhh I can't stop imagining Kaoru running Yamamoto through with that... DRILL... SPEAR... THING, and I feel a little sick now.
  • Aoba and Julie look almost identical. I wonder if Amano just ran out of ideas with them. I kind of wish Julie's goatee had gotten some sort of transformation.
  • LARGE IS HILARIOUS, OH MY GOD. I WANT TO SEE HIM FIGHT CHOUJI.
  • Adelheid looks capable of killing absolutely everyone in that room. I'm amazed the Vongola are not just shrieking and running away. SHE IS A GODDESS OF DEATH.
  • Shitt P seriously looks 100 percent like a Gundam. Seriously.
  • Teeheehee, Enma, suddenly all of your minions look cooler than you. Poor guy. XD

I close this post with these immortal words spoken by MangaHelpers's Oni_James:

Fucking Reborn! The more I get, the more I want. XD

[identity profile] ekmisao.livejournal.com 2010-07-08 03:58 pm (UTC)(link)
Next on KHR: Paul the octopus correctly guesses that Vongola wins the next round of fighting. You heard it here first. ^^;;

I didn't even notice Drill Spear Thing, still too sunk about it all I guess.

Finally, I still think there is a reason D.Spade let drop that information and the whole Primo arc was aired before these chapters came around.

[identity profile] makeste.livejournal.com 2010-07-08 05:51 pm (UTC)(link)
PAUL IS NOT INFALLIBLE. HE MESSED UP TWICE DURING EURO 2008. My money is totally on the Shimon for this round. XD

I noticed it almost immediately, but that's because I was looking for it. Maybe it's a bit morbid, but I've been dying to know exactly how Kaoru inflicted those kind of injuries ever since 293 came around. Of course, now that I do know (or can reasonably assume, anyway), I almost wish I didn't. :(

Primo is obviously being FRAMED/CAUGHT UP IN A MISUNDERSTANDING/SOMETHING ELSE, but I do think both sides are jumping to outrageous conclusions given that neither of them clearly has any idea what actually happened. Sigh.

[identity profile] felinaofl2.livejournal.com 2010-07-08 04:36 pm (UTC)(link)
Honestly, I was disgusted by this chapter.

This arc has now sunk to "He Said, She Said" bullshit. On top of that, this whole thing between the two Primos STRONGLY reminds me of Kikyo and Inuyasha-- I now expect to have it revealed that both were betrayed/tricked by someone else. (D.Spade maybe?)

The Shimon to me are just throwing a tantrum, and adhering to the "Sins of the Past = Sins of the Present" crap really pisses me off, because it's so damn shallow an argument. Sorry, Enma, but you & your family suck even more now as villains in my eyes. Byakuran was a tough act to follow, and you're lame & cliched in comparison.

In any case, I demand Varia. They're the ones who can save this arc for me. I want VARIA, XANXUS, and ITALY NOW.

[identity profile] makeste.livejournal.com 2010-07-08 06:04 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, it seems almost a given that there is/was some mysterious third party at work who screwed both the Vongola and the Shimon families over. I really hope it wasn't Spade, if only because I can't take him seriously, but he's a possibility. Or it could be that there was no third party at all, and Primo was simply caught up in some other tragic circumstances and was unable to make it in time. Though that doesn't really explain the supposed coverup. But I'm sure there's all kinds of possible explanations for that.

I can't really judge the Shimon family, though, because even though holding Tsuna and co. accountable for something they didn't do and clearly didn't even know about is amazingly retarded, it's the kind of thing people do in real life all the time. And they clearly have had a sucky, sucky time of it, and it's just so easy to blame the Vongola for it all, and to want some sort of justice for what happened to them, and so what if everyone who was actually responsible is long dead? WE'LL JUST BLAME THEIR DESCENDANTS. Stupid, yes. Cliched, definitely. Absolutely realistic given the situation? I think so, anyway.

Besides, I'm more interested in what happens because of all this. Watching Tsuna struggle with the politics of fighting a former friend and wrestling with the possibility that his other friend might be permanently injured, and being pretty sure that Primo is being wrongly accused, but maybe harboring just the tiniest bit of secret doubt, and where all that might lead. I dunno, I eat this sort of thing up. XD

Also I sort of hope the Varia don't show up too soon, actually. ;; Just because then this will turn into an overcrowded showdown like the end of the Future Arc, and with so many characters around none of them will get their proper time in the spotlight. I'd rather the focus stay on the main cast for the next few chatpers at least, and then when the Shimon make their inevitable getaway and we get a temporary breather, then Amano can spread the focus out and give us some updates on the supporting cast.

TL;DR I AM TOO FORGIVING OF THIS SERIES CLEARLY.

[identity profile] amcw177.livejournal.com 2010-07-08 04:45 pm (UTC)(link)
Actually, I thought the only sensible and totally kick-ass reaction from Tsuna to all the accusations would have been 'I don't care about this bullshit from God knows when. You hurt Yamamoto. You die.' But we may still get that from Gokudera LOL

In fact, my first thought at seeing everyone in their, uh, combat gear was 'LOL BORG'. But Gundam makes sense too. I'm definitely seeing the resemblance. But if anyone says the line 'Resistance is futile' in the near future I'm gonna LOL so hard Amano will probably hear me in her study.

[identity profile] makeste.livejournal.com 2010-07-08 06:09 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, that's more of a Gokudera response than a Tsuna one (and I really hope someone says something along those lines in the manga before too long). Tsuna has every right to be angry, of course, especially given Enma's incredibly flimsy justification that Tsuna clearly doesn't believe. But he's also the type who empathizes with his enemies even when he hates them, so given that this is Enma, who was his bestest buddy up until just five minutes ago, his reactions/emotions are liable to be somewhat more complicated. I am looking forward to this more than I should be!

They are rocking that cyborg look. But when I think robots and Japan, my mind immediately goes to gundams, so. XD

Right, no snow flame. WOOT!

I'm betting that this entire thing is a "misunderstanding" (grossly understated, but ya know) from the very beginning, more so than just between Tsuna and Enma. Maybe the Vongola were betrayed by some other family and were unable to come to the Shion family's help, maybe the Shion went there willingly and without telling the Vongola but the truth was distorted by the survivors... There are a million possibilities (sorta) so who knows? Besides Amano, I mean.

But seriously. Blaming the kid for the parent/ancestor's sins is not a cool thing to do Enma.

[identity profile] makeste.livejournal.com 2010-07-08 06:13 pm (UTC)(link)
EARTH FLAMES ARE WHAT ALL THE COOL KIDS ARE ROCKING, WHAT WHAT. I guess those were stone spears instead of ice ones. Or maybe they were ice, and ice is one of the earth elements FOR SOME REASON. Who knows.

Yeah, it's almost certainly going to turn out to be one of those "actually, it turns out that this is what really happened, and it was tragic but Primo wasn't at fault, he was a good guy who just wanted to help his friends :(" thing, but I don't really mind that much in the meantime. For me, it's more about watching Tsuna and co. deal with all of this and struggle with figuring out what to do. The plot is just an excuse for the character development, in my mind. XD

But yeah, Enma definitely needs to reevaluate the logic of all this.

some people actually say Enma's flame looks like an uterus. I don't know which disturbing amusing imagery i should believe now.

like some people, i am overwhelmed by the... amount of "wtf-ness" this arc had become. I kinda have the same feeling as felinaofl2 above, just a milder version of it. >_>

LOL Shimon Primo look exactly like Enma... All mafias have limited gene pools (i talk gibberish).

Adelheid reminds me of a prying mantis... i don't know why D:

[identity profile] makeste.livejournal.com 2010-07-08 06:19 pm (UTC)(link)
*CRACKING UP OMG* XDDDDDD I'm already developing a habit of trying to avoid looking at his forehead, because clearly I will never be able to take him seriously again if I do.

It seems like the prevailing response to this chapter is "OH MY GOD SHIMON FAMILY HOW DUMB ARE YOU DOES TSUNA LOOK LIKE HE WAS BORN A HUNDRED YEARS AGO AND HAD A HAND IN PERSONALLY MAIMING YOUR ANCESTOR AND RUINING YOUR LIFE? I DO NOT THINK SO." And that is completely understandable. Still, like I've been saying in the comments above, I don't mind it all that much, because a) as stupid as it is, it's a believable motive on their part, and b) really I'm just in it for the main character angst, and this looks like it ought to provide buckets of it. So. XD

Haha, I noticed that too. I think the mafia just clones its bosses over and over again.

LOL, IT'S HER ANTANNAE, ISN'T IT. That's what cinches it.

ENMA'S FLAME CANNOT UNSEE.

You'd think that Nono would know more, but considering that Tsuna was just about to become Tenth and knows basically nothing, I'm not that surprised.

I also think that the whole "conquer Europe" this was probably the fault of Spade and Secondo. I'm really excited though, because I'm hoping this means more Primo family showing up again.

Tsuna defending Primo in the way he did is probably not the smartest thing to do, but I think it's very in-character for him. Also, you can tell that Primo's not the same kind of dick as Mukuro and Bykauran because he never smiles as is always dying-will-srsface.

Adelheid's boobs are so inconsistent in this chapter, and it kinda bugs me.

Woot, C.A.I. \m/

Some of them are definitely Gundamish. But I agree with [livejournal.com profile] reana_camellia that Shitt P looks more like a praying mantis than a Gundam.

[identity profile] makeste.livejournal.com 2010-07-08 06:26 pm (UTC)(link)
ENMA WHY DOES YOUR FLAME LOOK LIKE REPRODUCTIVE PARTS.

Yeah, I wonder if Nono had a childhood just like Tsuna's, where some random sadistic tutor came along one day and told him "YOU'RE IN THE MAFIA, DEAL WITH IT," and that was that, and he grew up just being constantly surprised by everything and just eventually learned to roll with it and stop asking questions. That would explain a lot about... well, everything.

Any excuse for Primos is fine by me. In retrospect, I agree with [livejournal.com profile] ekmisao that the anime's Primo Arc was clearly helping to set the stage for all this.

Also, you can tell that Primo's not the same kind of dick as Mukuro and Bykauran because he never smiles as is always dying-will-srsface.

You have just single-handedly reassured me of Primo's innocence. XD

Lol, but then again, they've always been pretty inconsistent. BUT YEAH, IN THIS CHAPTER IT WAS REALLY BLATANT.

I've been typing up some pretty long and involved essays in defense of this chapter, but in truth, I'm pretty sure my main reason for liking it in spite of everything is that it had the C.A.I. You can't go wrong with Sistema C.A.I.

It's the antennae, definitely. Now that you guys have said it, I cant' unsee. XD

Were they just like, "HERE, IT'S SOME GUY'S BLOOD, I GUESS? IDK BUT I'M SUPPOSED TO GIVE IT TO YOU, THAT'S WHAT IT SAYS IN THE VONGOLA MANUAL"?

This really is the sort of thing they should write down. Vongola records are crap, seriously. :|

But then he goes way too far by assigning Tsuna blame simply because he's loosely descended from the guy who supposedly did all this.

I swear, I spent the whole chapter going "Uh . . . you guys? I get wanting to regain your honour and all, but WHAT THE HELL DID THE CURRENT GENERATION EVER DO TO YOU." I mean, yeah, Tsuna misplaced your easily lost love letter, but that is really not good enough.

And Tsuna, the only way you could reasonably make that claim about Primo is if you were him (which is not completely unlikely, given Mukuro, but STILL).

Adelheid's BREASTS OF DOOM are nearly the size of her head. Just to remind you. (Although for once her thighs look about proportional to her boobs, even if her waist is still tiny.)

And also making comparisons to X/1999.

HAHAHAHA OH YES. More Clamp comparisons, just what we need! (The Dragons of Earth were the ones trying to destroy humanity and save the planet, right? And the Heaven ones were trying to save people? Or have the last five years dulled my memory?)

Teeheehee, Enma, suddenly all of your minions look cooler than you. Poor guy. XD

Even Tsuna looks cooler than him. At least his head is really on fire instead of kind of on fire.

[identity profile] makeste.livejournal.com 2010-07-08 06:36 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm so disillusioned with the Vongola as a whole now. They used to be this mysterious all-powerful and all-knowing syndicate, and now we find out that they're basically just useless. MOVE OVER, NINTH GEN, IT IS CLEARLY TIME FOR A PERSONNEL CHANGE.

It's such an incredible leap of logic that it almost boggles the mind. I have to wonder if they really believe deep down that this is justified, or if they're just going along with it because having someone to blame is more satisfying than having the culprits being long dead.

...Well, but then again, Enma almost backed down until Tsuna failed his test. I guess that was really the final straw; maybe it's not that he holds Tsuna personally responsible so much as that he just thinks Tsuna is the same type of person that Primo was.

I really, really, really wish it would occur to someone that THEIR RINGS. CAN. FUCKING. TIME-TRAVEL. If they really want the truth, THEY CAN ASK. I think under the circumstances, Primo would understand the need to drag him out of retirement again.

The only way these last few chapters could have been any more Clamp is if Yamamoto had lost an eye rather than the use of his legs. XD (Uh, I'm not really sure. I haven't read X in the longest time myself. Wikipedia says you're right, though.)

And Tsuna's head doesn't look like a penis-slash-uterus. That's something, too.

The x/1999 comparisons occurred to me too--though if villainous Enma ends up licking blood off of Tsuna's face before this arc ends, I'm going to be extraordinarily surprised. 8D And Enma's supreme-woobie-with-a-grudge face reminds me more of Kamui, anyhow. ...Now I want to see KHR as written by CLAMP. Ohgodwhy. One thing's certain, though, and that is that Yamamoto is Keiichi.

Vongola clearly is ready to come under new management, because their organization & record-keeping skills completely suck. Not that Tsuna'd necessarily be a great improvement in this instance, but I doubt, say, Gokudera or Hibari would let this kind of bullshit slide.

This chapter just makes me want to learn more and more about Primo. I want an Adventures of Primo side story where we follow him around for a week as he roasts evildoers, does the crossword, makes eclairs, tragically misses appointments etc.

...and it also makes me want to see Gokudera kick some serious ass, but pretty much everything (including getting up in the morning) awakens that desire in me. xD

[identity profile] makeste.livejournal.com 2010-07-08 06:41 pm (UTC)(link)
I have only the vaguest memories of X after all of these years, but I do seem to recall that there was incredibly sexy and really fucked-up chemistry between Kamui and what's-his-name... ah, Fuuma. If we get anything even remotely like that with this arc, I will die a happy fangirl.

Totally agree about the Vongola. Not only did the Nonos completely fail in the information department, but they also appeared to be ready to just up and die in this chapter once the Shimon started powering up. If Gokudera hadn't stepped in to casually save them all, I don't know what would have happened. Just step aside and let the kids handle this one, then, guys.

I'm anticipating a lot more Primo backstory in the future (and looking forward to it). It looks like the Primo arc in the manga was just a warm-up. :D

..and it also makes me want to see Gokudera kick some serious ass, but pretty much everything (including getting up in the morning) awakens that desire in me. xD

I kind liked when Tsuna defended Primo (the only thing I could think of was how happy G27 fangirls would be). It was so funny to see the surprised look on Nono's face, even he thinks that Primo was not that good and agrees with Aoba.

Adelheid has everything under control!!! No wonder everybody was surprised by knowing Enma was the boss. SHE should be the boss!!! Look at her boobs! D8

Does anyone else find it both odd and hilarious that Chrome is still bothering to keep the Yamamoto illusion intact? - hahaha, not only you!!!

[identity profile] makeste.livejournal.com 2010-07-08 07:03 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, he and Primo are bros, so it's understandable. I'm just saying, it was also kinda dumb. XD (Yeah, for all of his "!!" reactions, it seems like Nono has fewer doubts than Tsuna about the Shimon family's story.)

Not to mention she did pretty much all the talking in this chapter. She pretty much is the boss. And they just let Enma pretend to be so that no one suspects the truth.

JUST WHEN YOU DIDN'T THINK IT WAS POSSIBLE FOR GOKUDERA TO BE AWESOMER, HE PROVED US WRONG AGAIN. :D

I am sorry for not comment for a very very very long time! orz

9. Does anyone else find it both odd and hilarious that Chrome is still bothering to keep the Yamamoto illusion intact? CALL ME CRAZY, BUT I THINK THEY MAY BE ON TO YOU, CHROME.

SHE'S JUST DOING HER DUTY DON'T BE HARD ON HER. 8'DD But perhaps the real reason is because Amano forgot that Yamamoto's injured (even though at the very beginning of the chapter they were talking about it) and drew him in because come on, Yamamoto's ALWAYS there at the important parts. Well most of the time at least. 8'D

Gokudera remembered to use the C.A.I. THIS CHAPTER IS AWESOME

I hope there was just some kind of big misunderstanding between Primo and Shimon Primo but it would be way more epic and not cliche if Primo did actually set them up. :O

[identity profile] makeste.livejournal.com 2010-07-08 07:06 pm (UTC)(link)
No worries! Good to see you again, though. <3

Somehow the thought of Amano forgetting that Yamamoto's not supposed to be there makes that page even more hilarious. XD It's true, it wouldn't quite feel complete without him.

AGREED, C.A.I. MAKES THIS CHAPTER AN INSTANT WIN.

it would be way more epic and not cliche if Primo did actually set them up

This is what I've been thinking ever since I read that part. I agree with the general fandom consensus that it was probably a set-up/misunderstanding, but even so, part of me can't help but hope that Adelheid is actually right. Now that would be a nice twist.

[identity profile] smilypie.livejournal.com 2010-07-08 09:16 pm (UTC)(link)
1- This chapter had me cracking up, starting from this page. My first thought was, "It's not even a full splash page!" Also, poor Chrome XD
Enma's hand has its own orbit. Woah, crap it does. o.o

3- Well now I know why Basil's not needed for this arc. We already have a uselessly powerful person to make surprised faces! 8D

5- I'm glad someone caught the fact that the whole conquering Europe thing made no sense. The explanation was clearly biased.
And yeah, the letter thing makes sense now. Still, why couldn't he use a paper weight flkjdss

6- For someone who forgets that he has the ability to stop a whole freaking fight by trying, "*knockonring* Hey, Primo, still in there?" Tsuna's not convincing me that swearing on his grave means much.

8- (seriously, did anyone else laugh out loud? Because I pretty much died)
*RAISES HAND* Well I was laughing through the whole chapter, but still. Pfffft

9- LOL. It's just. There.

10- The only thing that worries me is how Amano's coming up with Earth Flames when I'm still confused about the tinisette. And if the Earth Flames can match the strength of the Sky Flames, then why is it that the Vongola and Mare rings (which apparently both use Sky flames?) and the pacifiers are the "things that created the world" or whatever, but the Earth Flames are just now relevant?
/confused rant.

1. Yeah, poor Shimon family with their little half-assed cover page that Gokudera, Ryohei and Chrome's forehead had to go and interrupt. But they'll have plenty more covers down the line, I'm sure.

3. It's good of the Ninth to pick up Basil's slack.

5. I love how they're supposedly making plans to conquer an entire CONTINENT, and yet it somehow all boils down to fighting another mafia family. (Or, considering that there were 20,000 of them, mafia army might be more accurate). Gotta love how the mafia shamelessly rules the world in the KHR universe. AND YES, A PAPERWEIGHT WOULD HAVE STILL BEEN A GOOD MOVE.

10. Yeah, the existence of the Earth flames really doesn't make sense going by everything we learned about the 7^3 in the last arc. And it's especially confusing given that I'm sure Amano had been planning the Inheritance Arc for a while before she actually reached the conclusion of the Future Arc, so you'd think she would have given her mythology a bit more wiggle room. If the Shimon family's rings are on the same level as the tri-ni-sette, you'd think they would have been mentioned, even if they were presumed lost or something.

Or maybe it's just another one of those "records? What records?" things the Vongola seems to be so good at lately. XD

So far, I guess I'm starting to become more interested in this. Though...as of yet, it seems that 7 is a favorite number of Amano's. =_= Come on, does the number of Guardians have to be 7 all the time? And do they have to always be Guardians? They are different mafia families, after all, so shouldn't they have different (a.k.a. equally or even more efficient) heirarchies?

But, otherwise, Earth flames. :) Interesting...I would like to see what they are made of.

[identity profile] makeste.livejournal.com 2010-07-09 02:35 pm (UTC)(link)
WELL OBVIOUSLY IT HAS TO BE SEVEN SO THAT EACH VONGOLA GUARDIAN HAS AN OPPONENT TO FIGHT. Haha, though I agree that it would be more interesting if the numbers varied every now and then. We could get a two-against-one battle, or hell, one of the new characters could turn out to actually be a non-combatant, God forbid. XD

I'm trying to decide if the new flame types are more likely to be periodic table-type elements (e.g. copper, iron, bronze, etc.) or Captain Planet-type elements (e.g. wind, water, etc.). It's hard to tell at the moment. But yeah, I'm really curious.

[identity profile] kat8cha.livejournal.com 2010-07-09 03:06 am (UTC)(link)
BTW - do you not find it hilarious that they called him Nono? I MEAN. I know he's the 9th but REALLY?

...Julie's goatee is totally covered with metal. Just wait.

ADELHEID'S TRANFORMATION WAS FREAKING AWESOME. Except her breasts like... burst out of that outfit.

Also, I'm still waiting for an earth wind and fire joke. I already covered a Captain Planet.

[identity profile] makeste.livejournal.com 2010-07-09 02:40 pm (UTC)(link)
I DID NOTICE THAT. I was like, "Adelheid, he's not your boss, why the hell are you addressing him as the Ninth?" I GUESS IT'S JUST POLITE. Also I sometimes wonder why IEM translates the title whenever it's in Japanese but leaves it as-is when they address him in Italian. Eh.

I WANT TO SEE HIM KILL A MAN WITH THAT BEARD.

I AM TEMPTED TO SAY THE BOOBS WERE ACTUALLY THE BEST PART... in fact, I will go ahead and say they were the best part, but yes. The entire transformation was epic. As expected of Adelheid.

Between X, Avatar, and Captain Planet, Amano will be amazingly lucky if she gets out of this one with any of the fans still taking her seriously. XD

I'm delurking (um, hi? I just caught up on the manga) to say that I'm kinda liking where this is going. The flimsy reason for the Shimon's ten-generations-long grudge is secondary to me at this point...what I want to know is how Tsuna is going to deal with all of this?

Also, Hibari vs. Adelheid will be EPIC. Although all I can picture is boobs of steel vs. handcuffs. ACK.

[identity profile] makeste.livejournal.com 2010-07-09 02:50 pm (UTC)(link)
(HELLO ♥) Haha, I'm glad someone else agrees with me. The he-said-she-said business between the Shimon and the Vongola really isn't as important to me as where it all leads. This arc is about Tsuna, when you get to the center of it. Between Yamamoto's injury, Enma's betrayal, and the revelation that Primo may have been up to SHADY BUSINESS (not to mention the whole "the Shimon family wants to kill you now" thing), he's got more to struggle with now than ever before, and given that the last arc placed the fate of THE ENTIRE UNIVERSE on his shoulders, that is saying a lot. I'm really looking forward to see how he'll handle it.

Oh God, boobs vs. handcuffs; that fight will be like a pervert's wet dream. XD But seriously, I'm looking forward to that too. And I'm keeping my fingers crossed that Adelheid will actually win, not only because WE NEED MORE FEMALE CHARACTERS KICKING ASS UP IN HERE, but because I am of the opinion that Hibari could do with being knocked down a peg just once. >_>

idk if this has been said but I bet the misunderstanding (it has to have been one) between the two primo bosses was caused by a fucking gust of wind!

I think Primo Vongola did know that it was the Shimon boss's blood, but he was probably too ashamed that this happened and he didn't want it to become a relic of the past so he hid the story and called the blood Sin? Or maybe there is a much more complicated story behind it involving Demon Spade and betrayal and how maybe it wasn't a misunderstanding but Primo Vongola just couldn't make it...but I'm pretty sure Primo knew. Yeah. This is actually making me want fic XD or to write fic haha

So the Shimon family declares Enma to be the Tenth Shimon Boss (which for some reason takes everyone by surprise)
Inorite...wasn't this established? @_@ uh.

Coyote has the absolute funniest reaction anyone could ever possibly have (seriously, did anyone else laugh out loud? Because I pretty much died)
LMFAO ARGH! XDDDDDDD I DIDN'T EVEN NOTICE BEFORE BUT NOW I'M LIKE DYING IN MY CHAIR OMG OMFGGG DSALKHDG
DUDE ADELHEID'S BOOBS ARE RIDICULOUS I AM AMAZED HER WAIST HASN'T SNAPPED IN HALF ALREADY SERIOUSLY IT'S NOT POSSIBLE. I BET HER BODY IS PURE STEEL OF SOMETHING. MAYBE SOMETHING REALLY HARD AND FIRM IS HER ELEMENT. OR MAYBE SOMETHING REALLY LIGHT SO HER BOOBS CAN FLOAT AND DSLKHAGADS this train of thought is stupid.

Chrome...must keep appearances! XD but yeah, I loled.

CURSE THOSE GUSTS OF WIND!!

Yeah, it seems like the most likely explanation is that Primo was somehow kept from coming to the Shimon family's aid (maybe Spade's betrayal was really badly timed) until it was too late, and then chose to retire in his guilt, passing on Cozart's blood down to the next generation as a reminder that WITH GREAT POWER COMES GREAT RESPONSIBILITY or some weird shit like that. But then the meaning of it was eventually lost through the ages because the Vongola family royally sucks at keeping track of things.

Taking a quick look back at the earlier chapters in this arc, I think it actually might not have been. XD BUT STILL, WASN'T IT OBVIOUS THAT HE WAS THE BOSS? Or did they all think Adelheid was in charge or something (understandable)?

...now I'm wondering if all the shock was just because they did think Adelheid was the Shimon Tenth. XD

I am fully convinced Adelheid's ability to stand without back injury is somehow related to her ring/element. That shit is not natural.

HAHAHA. "YES I KNOW THEY'RE AWARE THAT THIS IS NOT THE REAL YAMAMOTO, BUT STILL. IT'S THE PRINCIPLE OF THE THING."

[identity profile] flyby.livejournal.com 2010-07-09 06:39 pm (UTC)(link)
and then everything fucking explodes. And Gokudera saves the day (you're welcome, Nonos).

♥ for this, because it totally brought home to me how much he's matured - no posturing, no "I'll save you, Tenth!", just getting on with what needs to be done and protecting everyone.

I am actually happy that Chrome is keeping fake!Yama around, because it keeps him part of the story rather than sidelining him to be forgotten about. I think maybe Tsuna might need that reminder, too, of why he's fighting someone he thought was a friend over some ancient history he has no personal stake in. Also it allows me to persist in the hope that at some point when shit is going down he will be revealed as not actually fake! in a Stunning Twist!! and proceed to own a bitch.

[identity profile] makeste.livejournal.com 2010-07-11 02:00 am (UTC)(link)
Between this and his recent teamwork ethic, it'll be a wonder if we even recognize the boy before long. THEY GROW UP SO FAST. ;_; Sob I am so proud.

Also it allows me to persist in the hope that at some point when shit is going down he will be revealed as not actually fake! in a Stunning Twist!! and proceed to own a bitch.

I am now terrified that if Yamamoto's storyline goes any other way, I will never be satisfied as long as I live. Because a twist like that would be amazingly, incredibly, mind-boggingly awesome.

[identity profile] amberrei.livejournal.com 2010-07-11 12:56 am (UTC)(link)
Sorry for the stupid question, but where did you read that Vongola Rings can time travel?

[identity profile] makeste.livejournal.com 2010-07-11 02:11 am (UTC)(link)
Nah, not stupid at all, given that it was the end of the Future Arc and Amano was dumping heaps of confusing and only partially sense-making information on us left and right. XD Anyway, it was back in 278 when Primo popped up to RELEASE TSUNA'S SHACKLES, and Uni explained that Primo's ability to chat up Tsuna whenever he felt like it was due to the Vongola rings' "miracle of the shield dimension." Whatever that means. But basically, she implied that it was similar to Byakuran's ability to share knowledge with other words; that the Vongola rings gave Tsuna and co. a similar ability to communicate across time with the previous Vongola generations.

In fact, since Tsuna has yet to master this ability and given that it would be exceedingly useful particularly in this situation, I have a strong suspicion that the next training arc is going to involve him learning how to do this more efficiently. Well, really it's less of a "suspicion" and more of a "hope", but still. XD
