AN EVENTFUL CHAPTER.

1. So I clicked on the first page here, and immediately had the following sequence of thoughts:

BOOBS.
Oh, that's Hibari. Why is he upside-down?
...where are his pants?

What I now want to know (besides the answer to the pants question) is, how many of you had the exact same thought process? Just out of curiosity. And let it never be said that Amano does not know how to draw covers that inspire conversation. XD

2. Tsuna looks like he only just now noticed the boobs.

Oh wait, they're all still surprised about last week's mafia revelation. Why are they surprised? Oh hell, let's just go along with it.

And how come Julie doesn't get a reaction panel on the bottom with all the rest? Is he not good enough or something? What exactly are you trying to say here, Amano?

3. "Yep, all seven, according to my sources." WHAT SOURCES. THE ATTIC IS A SOURCE?

Haha I love how Enma is all "WELL YOU NEVER ASKED." In his defense, Tsuna really should start asking people. Because seriously, every single person in Namimori is in the mafia.

Though I should note, Enma doesn't actually seem too thrilled at being ratted out. Is he possibly disappointed that he didn't get to make a friend on his own terms for once in his life without it having something to do with the mafia? OR DOES HE JUST ALWAYS LOOK LIKE THAT? It's hard to tell, because his face, it does not change like a normal person's. XD

And wow, burn, Reborn. Buuuuuurn.

4. Vongola really needs to get its act together. The hell kind of family is so disorganized that four of its top guardians (including the RIGHT HAND MAN, who NEVER GETS TO BE IN THE KNOW ABOUT ANYTHING, APPARENTLY) have to find out about a hugely important ceremony from a RIVAL FAMILY, of all places? Granted, anyone who complains about getting exposition from Adelheid needs to do some good, long soul-searching about how to be grateful for the little things in life, but still.

Anyway, so we're finally getting all of this confirmed now. The ceremony takes place in seven days, and Tsuna will officially become the Tenth boss, which I confess is actually pretty cool, because I didn't expect anything like this to happen for years. I figured they'd at least wait until he was eighteen or something, but silly me.

More importantly, Adelheid says the Shimon gang came to Namimori because it was convenient, so does that mean the ceremony is taking place there instead of in Italy? Because if so, GOD FUCKING DAMMIT.

5. Ryohei brings up a legitimate point! And in an intelligent manner, which is actually a pretty damned big deal... SO OF COURSE REBORN IMMEDIATELY SHOOTS HIM DOWN. You're such a bitch, Reborn.

...Doesn't this seem like an awful lot of power to place in the hands of someone who says things like "Eek"? XD

6. OOH WE GETTIN' LOTS OF FUN MAFIA ACTION UP IN HERE SOON. It's the big mafia social event of the season! Everyone's coming down! Trad 6 is coming down! The Leilei brothers (ARE THEY RELATED TO I-PIN I WONDER) are coming down! The Giegue family is coming down! I WANT TO KNOW WHAT'S UP WITH THE GIEGUE FAMILY. THEY MADE GOKUDERA ALL NERVOUS AND SWEATDROPPY, I'VE GOT TO FIND OUT MORE ABOUT THEM.

Ooh, and speaking of, I wonder if Gokudera's dad's family is coming down. :D Suddenly this arc is just brimming with potential.

7. Oh, Tsuna, you are so painfully cute and naive. But that's why I love him. Even now, all he wants is to just be a normal guy.

Kinda flies in the face of what Enma's saying here. Who says power corrupts? For someone who saved the goddamn world, Tsuna sure doesn't have much in the way of ambition.

Incidentally, Enma's actually pretty not-creepy here. And here, too. Suddenly his formerly terrifying stare has become a wistful shota gaze of adorableness. *_*

8. J-Jesus Christ omg. XDDD First there was Tarzan last week, and now for whatever bizarre reason he's dressed up as a female tennis player? SOB WHAT IS HE TRYING TO DO TO ME.

The way Tsuna says "good... friends?" reminds me of the way Zapp Brannigan says "good friends", and makes me wonder exactly when we can expect to see the piles of 27/Enma doujin that are surely being drawn as we speak.

9. And once again, Tsuna is surprised by something he shouldn't be. Of course bad things are going to happen. A hugeass group of the world's most powerful (and not-so-powerful) families are all gathering in Namimori for a ceremony some of them almost certainly object to. Yeah, that's really going to end well.

SUDDEN HARPOONS! Yes, now this is exactly the sort of thing we should all be expecting.

10. OH MY GOD WHAT IS HE. HOW DOES A GUY AS BIG AS A HOUSE GO AROUND SNEAKING UP ON PEOPLE? I would think someone like that would actually make a terrible assassin, but whatever.

Well, all right, then, Tsuna, why don't you go ahead and show us all why the Ninth is so confident that you're ready to take up the Vongola mantle. MAKE US PROUD.

So, we got the exposition out of the way, and now our first real battle; looks like this arc is getting a move on at last. WHAT IS THIS STRANGE FEELING? I think it is called anticipation. :D Heehee, I can't wait for next week.

Enma kind of reminds me of Longchamp's Downer bullet. Hard to hate him, he's just so pathetic and depressed.

He's surprisingly good at it this time around. I don't remember him being that good at it! But this time he really went all out and got in touch with his inner lady.

ALSO. I don't know where Hibari's pants are. I assume they're behind the gradient.

I can't even remember. XD All I can remember is that one chapter where he started to dress up as Bianchi and then got bored halfway through and decided it was good enough... I wish I could remember what chapter that was, because now I want to see it again. Anyway, yeah, he's probably just putting in the extra effort because he needs to remind Enma that Adelheid's not the only sexy around. Vongola can work it too.

His lower body just turned into some sort of weird rectangular blob. And yet he looks as untroubled as ever. What a guy.

Oi, the Vongola do it BETTER.

Yeah, they do have style, I can't deny that.

All I have to say about this chapter is AW ENMA IS SO CUTE and things about the mafia being ridiculous + Tsuna is Crouching Failure Hidden Badass and. Things. I CANNOT WAIT FOR MORE OF THIS ARC, SERIOUSLY.

It may happen that I will eventually look back on this chapter as the point where Enma finally stopped creeping me the hell out. We shall see.

I need to stop being surprised at the characters being surprised about mafia things happening. Hibari's the only one who isn't embarrassing himself here.

"EMBODIMENT OF EVIL" GOOD LORD WHAT IS THAT? Well, judging by that pic, it is definitely cause for alarm. XD And I wouldn't put it past Gokudera to be an Earthbound fan, cute little nerd that he is.

Well, Tsuna becoming the official boss means he gets to be the OFFICIAL right hand man, after all, so it's all his dreams come true. He does look hilariously blissful there.

TSUNA TOTALLY MADE THE EXACT SAME FACE HE DID IN THE TARZAN SCENE FROM THE LAST CHAPTER. And I cracked up again. I want Reborn to jump on his head in every chapter. Bug-eyed Tsuna should become a new tradition.

I LOVED LOVED LOVED THIS CHAPTER AND I WANT MORE.

Even with his freaky eyes, Enma never actually creeped me out. :c I don't know why. I was just like. "Awww, potentially evil woobie," but now I'm leaning more towards the "okay, probably not evil" side of things.

Everyone in this series is hilariously surprised by things they shouldn't be surprised by. And then we don't get HUGE SURPRISED REACTION PANELS where we really could use them. Like Byakuran sprouting pretty sparkly wings the first time, I would have loved to have seen just like. Two pages full of *GONK* reaction shots. XD

Oh my god, you have never seen things about Giygas? That thing has probably the creepiest Madness Mantra in any video game ever. "It hurts..... it hurts... I'm h...a...p...p...y... Ness, Ness, Ness, Ness, Ness, Ness, Ness, Ness, Ness, Ness, Ness, Ness, Ness, Ness, Ness, Ness, Ness, Ness..... I feel g...o...o...d..." And all this WHILE YOU ARE BATTLING IT cos it won't shut up, and every time it attacks you back the box that states what's going on in the battle just goes "You cannot grasp the true form of Giygas's attack!" It's freaky. 8|

To me so far it's been like an all-or-nothing thing; he's either SUPER-CREEPY or SUPER-ADORABLE. I just can't decide which is the one true Enma.

It cracks me up, though; I don't know, something about completely disproportionate reactions. "OH MY GOD THEY'RE MAFIA SERIOUSLY?!!?!" versus "Hmm, okay, now there are wings." These guys. XD

I LOL'd when Reborn talked about the Shimon family because: diplomacy - ur doing it wrong. XD But then again, it's not like Reborn needs to fear anyone except for, maybe, God or something.

I want backstory on how Gokudera knows these Russian assassins LIKE BURNING.

I for one am amazed at this most unexpected of plot twists. (I agree, it was definitely one of the better lines to come along in this series. Perfect comic timing.)

7. Aww, in this case I have to disagree. I love that he's still as much of a spaz as ever; I know everyone's excited for him to grow up and finally become the cool Tsuna we... sort of...? saw in the TYL!verse, but part of me hopes he won't ever change, at least too much. His denial is endearing.

10. POINT. Mafia assassins in general just suck. XD ~~ONE DAY WE'LL MANAGE TO GO FIVE WHOLE CHAPTERS WITHOUT AN X-BURNER, DAMN IT.~~ Next week's chapter is going to put the zing in amazing.

3. I now expect to see the full details of this plot twist revealed any day now.

CONSIDERING THAT NO ONE EVER EVER EVER DIES IN KHR EXCEPT FOR BYAKURAN ~~and Gamma and Uni~~, I can only assume that the Ninth is healthy as all get out, and is only making Tsuna the official boss because he's getting lazy. Time for him to retire and enjoy his old age while the kids slave away their youthful days.

6. It would be hilarious if this happened and we got an omake of like Skull standing there, and the bouncers are all, "Nope, not on the list," and he's like "BUT BUT BUT I'M AN ARCOBALENO!" and they're just, "Sorry," and then he runs away crying. If they put Reborn in charge of the guest list, fun times will be had.

7. Well, it's not so much that he can't see as he refuses to see, which is just part of his character, really. He's just stubborn that way, and I can't really blame him.

10. Shitt P. might actually be an effective assassin just because I can imagine people just standing there gaping at her while she walks up and kills them. She could use her ability to make people WTF to her advantage. XD

3- Wonder if Hibari's in on it or not 8O

4- Yeah, it's 'bout time for the youngins to take over. And remember! this is all just the Ninth's generous plan to get Tsuna and Enma to make friends. Of course. lolol

6- Poor Skull D8 I'm sure Reborn's in charge of the list because no one eles really wants to and he'd have too much fun with it.

7- True, and probably why Amano had Enma ask why he didn't just run away... Makes more sense when I think about it.

10- Ffff I'd love to see that. But her biggest weakness would be if she had to face Lady Gaga fans, since they would just ambush her.

3. He probably is, since he'd probably through a huge tantrum if he found out Reborn was using his bird as a mob assassin without permission.

4. To be fair, if the Ninth's life as a mafia boss has been anything remotely like Tsuna's life as a mafia boss, I can understand why he's so eager to retire already. XD

6. Haha, yeah. That and he seems to know everyone there is.

7. I wrote a humongous essay all about Tsuna and why I love his failness months ago. And then I never posted it because I didn't really like how it came out. XD But I'm debating dusting it off and trying again, because I like to ramble about him.

I think I'm the onlye one who hasn't trwon away the idea of Enma ando co turning into enemies. Not that I want but it's the perfect opportunity to the family to gain power again, if they can defeat the Vongola.

NO, ME TOO! I was just thinking last night that it really wouldn't surprise me if we got halfway through this arc and the Shimon family suddenly pulled a betrayal on us. It would make for great drama after the time Amano's devoted to showing the development of their friendship, and it wouldn't be too far-fetched, either; like you said, considering their family's low standing, they could stand to gain a lot.

And then I wondered if I was really that jaded that I would immediately suspect Enma and co. of having ulterior motives for being friendly. Sob. XD

Lol yeah, either that or Longchamp puts on the betrayal. I HOPE Lonchamp shows in this arc, otherwise I'll be awfully sad :(
