ANYWAY, I CAN'T WAIT TO SEE HOW TERRIFYING YOU'VE BECOME, TEEHEE I BET YOU'LL BLOW UP THE WHOLE ISLAND WITH ONE PUNCH OR SOMETHING.

Sob it's 600 friggin' chapters but it is so worth it, I promise you. The art style is pretty lol at first and the story doesn't really start picking up until Sanji shows up 40 or so chapters in, but a) that's still less time than it took KHR to get going, and b) once things do pick up, holy fucking shit. There's a reason why everyone's always "Yeah, One Piece kicks ass, Oda is magical and can do no wrong." That's not hyperbole--it really is the best manga out there.

I'm so far behind on OP right now (I'm watching the anime, and just finished up Enies Lobby), but I HAD to take a peek at this chapter. OMG OMG THIS IS GOING TO BE SO AWESOME. Everyone looks great, although the tiny little part of me that ships Frobin died when I saw Gundam-sized Franky. He looks SO BADASS, but. I just can't. Which is too bad because HOLY CHRIST ROBIN IS SMOKING HOT.

I just love all the detail that Oda puts into the islands that the Strawhat Crew get to explore, Water 7 especially, so that is definitely my favorite arc. And yeah, I guess Franky and Robin could figure something out, but...looking at how frickin big Franky is now, it feels more like BuildingxRobin than anything else. :P

Chopper was always my favorite- I'm happy that even though he hasn't grown much over the past two years, he is still adorable. ;w; AND SANJI HOLY SHIT I LOVE THAT MAN. My friend's boyfriend and I used to have arguments over whether he was a lollipop guy or a cigarette guy AND MAN I USED TO LOVE KICKING STUFF AROUND ALL THE TIME AND PRETEND I WAS HIM. Speaking as someone who caught up with the manga only recently after a 2-3 year hiatus, I can attest that it is a delightful experience, and the series is still everything you remember. Better, even. So if you do decide to catch up, you're in for a treat (though it is a daunting task, lol).

Chopper will always be adorable, of course. AND YES, SANJI. HE IS MY HERO. AND EVERYONE ELSE KYAAAA BEST CREW EVER.

kyaaaa!!! omg, so One Piece is the manga that I always read whenever the Shonen Jump was on sale at the local Blockbuster (back in the day when those things called "videos" still existed) or when I had time at Borders....which meant that much of my One Piece love was quite fragmented.

I remember waaaaaaaaaaaay back when Usopp first joined 'em and then I remember when Sanji came along and then life got in my way and suddenly I read it again and they're helping some Princess girl and suddenly Luffy's got a brother, then they've got this deer that is the fucking cutest thing ever! and then....

yeah I think I got uber confused after that cuz I was like :OMG ONE PIECE ROCKS-WAIT WTF IS GOING ON?!

I'm seriously waiting for the day when I can somehow read 700 plus chapters all in 2 days or something (damn you OM I was counting on it to do this TT_TT)

DO IT. It takes forever but is so fucking worth it. *_*

LOL, BLOCKBUSTER. I remember those days of yore.

It's definitely worth it to take the time and read it all in order, though. Oda has an Amano-esque habit of bringing back characters and/or plot devices long thought forgotten, and then building on them in totally new epic ways. So even if you've read bits of it here and there, you may miss out on something unless you bite the bullet and marathon it old-school.

And if it helps, both Manga Share and Mangareader have the entire series online. Their servers aren't quite as reliable/fast-loading as OM's were back in the day, but they get the job done quite adequately.

And lol, yeah, it's one of those series where if you take a break for a little while and then come back, it's like, "HOLY SHIT WHAT IS EVEN HAPPENING." I think it's because Oda crams as much as he possibly can into each page; it makes it a pretty different reading experience from, say, Bleach. In a good way. :D
