We are shining stars

So I tried something different this week, and read Binktopia's scanlation first, then used IEM's version to do the review. I think it worked out all right; it solves the problem of me fretting about which scan to read, as well as the problem of me constantly going into these things unspoiled so that all I'm capable of writing are capslock reactions and rows and rows of exclamation points.

( Though I like to think those exclamation points did have their own special charm. )

Now with +5 badtouch and +10 wtf stats! I'm not sure what to make of this!

( Especially since I don't even play D&D! )

Say what you will about Binktopia, but they are fast. (And what with OP going on break for a month, next week they'll probably be even faster. I could get used to this...)

By now everyone's probably heard about OneManga shutting down. I'M NOT REALLY WORRIED, since scanlators have been doing their thing since way before OM and its ilk became popular (even in the worst case scenario, they could just go back to distributing new chapters over IRC like in the olden days), buuuut I am kind of ORZ WHYYYY about it because I'm going to have to edit out all the links in my old chapter write-ups. And then the odds are good that whatever links I edit in will eventually go down as well. SO IT BEGINS... THE GREAT BATTLE OF OUR TIME.

Really, I'm just waiting for the manga industry to finally catch on to the fact that online scans are THE WAY OF THE FUTURE!, and set up a subscription or ad-supported site (or maybe like an iTunes sort of thing) where fans could read new chapters legally without having to wait months for them to be released in their own countries (if the series are even licensed where they live in the first place). Until then, whatever.

ANYWAY, I SHOULD SHUT UP AND START BABBLING ABOUT KHR 299 NOW. Ignore the contradiction there.

Second, a belated Happy Birthday to erisabesu and doomcake! YOU GUYS ARE AWESOME, I hope you know, and I hope good times were had.

And third, I was looking back at some of the early KHR chapters the other day (because the new arc was filling me with nostalgia), and it occurred to me that by getting in on the reviewing game late, I hadn't really given these chapters their due. So I've decided that before I get to any more of the new chapters, I'm going to go back and review all of the old ones first. IT WILL BE FUN, WE CAN REVISIT THE DAILY LIFE ARC AND MAKE FUN OF AMANO'S WACKY OLD DRAWING STYLE AND STUFF.

( Anyway, we've got like a hundred and fifty-odd chapters to go, so we'd better get started. )
