BEFORE I GET TO THE ESSAY, a quick note for anyone who is on LJ and/or Dreamwidth exclusively--pretty much all of my KHR reviews these days are only posted on tumblr. Because I am super lazy, and cross-posting stuff requires me to do a little more typing and clicking and OH MY GOD IT'S SO MUCH WORK!1 (I'm sorry, did I say lazy, I meant fail. XD)

If anyone is interested, I finally went back and tagged my tumblr reviews with the 'yay new chapter' tag, so... yeah. They're there! That is where they are.

Anyway, so yeah, KHR 378 came out and an essay happened, idk.

HI EVERYBODY HERE AT LIVEJOURNAL, HOW Y'ALL DOING.

Not going to spend a lot of time listing the new and improved methods of flaking out that I discovered during this most recent month, but needless to say yet again I am behind on KHR reviews, and this is mostly the fault of work, tumblr, and Skyward Sword (in that order). And to top it off I derped out on NaNoWriMo as well, though I did manage about 12,000 words of fic out of it, so it wasn't as bad as it could have been. Unfortunately the fic in question is long enough that it's still like maybe halfway done, if that. But I'm gonna try to get that finished in December anyway because I feel really weird not having posted at least one (non-crack) fic during this whole year. AND HEY WHAT DO YOU KNOW, THERE'S ONLY ONE MONTH LEFT OF SAID YEAR, WHAT IS EVEN UP WITH THAT ANYWAY.

But before that! I've been craving a good meme lately, but the thing about memes is that I keep derping out on them too. And I got to thinking that one of the main reasons for that is because when it comes to typical fandom memes, there are always parts of the meme that I LOVE, but also parts of the meme that FEEL LIKE HOMEWORK. Like for example, I will ramble on endlessly about my favorite characters, but with most fandoms I really do not have an OTP (because in a lot of fandoms I'm either PANSHIP...UAL, or I do have one or two favorite pairings but I'm not HARDCORE SHIP-IT-TILL-I-DIIEEEE enough to have any interesting insights or opinions regarding those ships), and I don't know enough about the online fandom to know what my unpopular opinion regarding the series is, and I don't remember enough about the canon to pick my favorite quote or top three scenes, etc.

So I was pondering all of this and then I thought WELL FUCK IT, THEN I'LL JUST MAKE UP MY OWN MEME. A MEME FILLED ONLY WITH QUESTIONS THAT I LIKE TO ANSWER! MANIACAL LAUGH, MANIACAL LAUGH.

LADIES AND GENTLEMEN HERE IS THAT MEME:

It was awesome, even though it rained on the last day (we just packed up and headed to an indoor arcade to ride bumper cars and play laser tag instead). BUT ANYWAY, I AM BACK NOW, and in a post-ish mood. So have a post! With some memes and stuff.

Why oh whyyyy did I decide to finally catch up with the One Piece manga (I had stopped a few years ago shortly before the end of Thriller Bark, so I had a blast reading through the Impel Down and Marineford arcs) right when Oda is about to take a one-month break to prep for a timeskip? SOB SOB CRY. At least the timeskip in question sounds fucking awesome.

So ekmisao and I were talking about the latest chapter and the new rings and what that might mean for the next arc, and it got me to wondering about where the series might go next after the Future Arc concludes, and who the next villain might be, and so forth.

And somehow the speculation got longer and longer until it turned into an essay thing. OH DEAR.

This is mostly jote_jote and demoneyeskyo87's fault! :P But it's also something I've kind of wanted to post for a while, because even though when it comes to KHR I pretty much exclusively write gen, I do still ship things! And 8059 is one of them. And so this is a post about why I like 8059.

Please note the wording of that, btw--this is an essay about why I like it! Not why it's canon, or why it is the best pairing ever!! or anything like that. That would require much more logic and research than I am willing to put into this. XD So yeah, it's just my explanation for why I ship it.

A.k.a. "How to Kill People with a Bird, a Dog and a Bamboo Sword."

This is mainly just for my own reference, since I'm in the process of trying to write a fic featuring a battle between Yamamoto and Gokudera. But I figured I might as well post it in case anyone else is interested.

(Note: There are a lot of Japanese sword terms under the cut; this is a pretty good translation reference.)

Having finally recovered some of my brain function from Thursday, and having now read the actual scanlation of the latest chapter, I feel a little vindicated about some old theories, and a little speculative about some new ones.

And above all, I'm feeling kinda rambly, because this chapter still has me all revved up. SO HERE'S A BRAND NEW THEORY POST COMIN' ATCHA.

Okay, so I was planning on writing something fic-ish for Gokudera's birthday, right? And I just could not for the life of me come up with anything that stuck. For a while I was thinking I might do a drabble about him and Uri, but after my fifteenth failed attempt at an opening paragraph, I gave up on that too. And for a while I despaired, because FAVORITE CHARACTER'S BIRTHDAY, and here I have nothing to offer sobbbb.

In the end, I decided to scrap the idea of a fic entirely, and just do something essayish instead. Because if I can't write coherently, then damn it, I CAN AT LEAST RAMBLE!!1

So, here is a tribute to our dear Storm Guardian in the form of a List. Specifically, a List of My Top Ten Favorite Gokudera Moments. In chronological order, because I can't rank for beans.
