makeste: [a shark with a beach ball on its nose] (A vow unto his own)
Hot Care Bear superheroes. My standards for KHR are really not that high. As long as someone is being particularly hot at least once per chapter, I'm happy. Toss in some bonus gayness and, if we've been extra good, a mountain or two of crack (and sometimes, if we made the right wish on the right shooting star at 11:11, we may even get character development), and I'm on cloud 9.

So I left chapter 339 on a happy note and am waiting patiently with my napkin folded in my lap for a delicious helping of chapter 340.

Amano, please make it à la mode. )

DAY 4

Jun. 16th, 2011 10:15 pm
makeste: (You magnify my better half)
No pathetic attempts at clever intros today; my brain is fresh out, and anyway, why waste valuable time writing pre-cut text when I could be reading about Enma and Tsuna being fabulous teamworky boyfriends and winning all the things?

In this chapter I hope someone punches Daemon in the face again! )

DAY 2

Jun. 14th, 2011 07:33 pm
makeste: [a shark with a beach ball on its nose] (I've had it with your sassy mouth!)
That post header makes this sound like some sort of KHR diary. Hmm...

Dear Diary,

Today Daemon Spade attacked us. But I could not stop laughing! It was the weirdest thing.

Sincerely, Tsuna

P.S. Enma smiled at me today! My heart felt like it was made of butterflies. )
makeste: [a shark with a beach ball on its nose] (I isolated the reverse power coupling!)
Also, fuck up all the formatting in the previous post by messing with your iPhone. JUST FOR GOOD MEASURE. Bluh.

Anyway (IS ANYONE EVEN OUT THERE READING THIS ANYMORE??), I missed like five chapters apparently, so what I am going to do is post a review a day for five days. And then on the sixth day, I am going to the beach! AND THEN ON THE SEVENTH DAY I WILL COME BACK AND DO THE SIXTH REVIEW. It almost worked out nicely, but what are you gonna do.

So I think we are starting with KHR 336!

I need a new tag that's somewhere in between 'yay new chapter' and 'yay old chapter.' Something like, 'yay chapter that is new to me but everyone else already read six weeks ago'...? )
makeste: (I'M A SHAAAAAARK)
Due to a combination of work/family/holidays/what-have-you keeping you busy and you also being kind of a LAZY ASS in general, and also that one insanely addictive webcomic you went and got yourself addicted to in the spare time you do have, you masterfully put off updating your LJ for several weeks like a winner! GOOD JOB, CHAMP. (But at least you finally got that promotion at work so that was kind of cool.)

REGARDLESS! It occurs to you in a moment of holy-shit-what that you have not made a post in your journal since fucking April. Fucking April SEVENTEENTH. Seriously, did you just forget the Internet even existed?? That is twenty-four fucking days that passed where you did not even log in to your journal. If you weren't so busy now furiously rushing to post stupid meta-updates, you would take a moment to go hang your head in shame somewhere.

Sadly, there is no time for that. KHR 336 is already on the horizon, and unless you really want to cross that unspoken invisible line and post a triple-chapter recap (MADNESS), you know what it is that you must do.

> Makeste: Review the last two chapters already. )

makeste: [a shark with a beach ball on its nose] (Oh bitch you did not just!)
My poor LJ is so neglected lately that I feel like I might need to hire a maid or something to look after the old place when I'm not around. Or at least remember to dust every once in a while.

Anyway, it appears that while I was away, KHR boldly challenged readers of the 21st century by becoming the first SJ manga to feature an openly gay main character! Or at least, that's what I took away from chapter 332. It's been a week since I first skimmed it, but I distinctly recall leaving with an impression of lots of explosions, heartwarming declarations of boyhood affections, and really not much else! So this will probably be a short-ish recap, done quickly and haphazardly in preparation to move on to chapter 333 which I haven't read yet and am super excited for because I LOVES ME SOME PRIMOS, OH YES I DO.

So let us MAKE HASTE. )

And Happy Belated and/or Soon-to-Be Birthday to [livejournal.com profile] half_sleeping, [livejournal.com profile] reidluver, [livejournal.com profile] betterinorange, [livejournal.com profile] azartti, and [livejournal.com profile] chibikaya! ♥ ♥ ♥
makeste: (You magnify my better half)
KHR, old chum, how I've missed you!

But you're back now and shiner than ever! )

AND HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ALL MY MARCH BIFFLES, [livejournal.com profile] ranty_rie, [livejournal.com profile] downpours, [livejournal.com profile] erisabesu, and [livejournal.com profile] doomcake, as well as [livejournal.com profile] spaceremix tomorrow! BUON COMPLEANNO MY DUDES. ♥

ITP: lulz.

makeste: [a shark with a beach ball on its nose] (A vow unto his own)
Yes, lulz. Which is somewhat surprising given that we are entering the climactic final battle between our hero and his former friend turned bitter enemy, but KHR always did like to fly in the face of convention like that. Making a mockery of our expectations.

On the other hand, given that this is KHR, maybe you WERE expecting it! )

And Happy Birthday to [livejournal.com profile] theprerogative and [livejournal.com profile] umi_no_suzume! ♥
makeste: [a shark with a beach ball on its nose] (404: Tsuna Not Found)
Title: Degrassi: The Mafia Generation
Rating: PG-13 (for language and high school drama)
Characters: Tsuna, Gokudera, Yamamoto, and some other quick cameos
Notes/Warnings: Not sure if this ended up being more a send-up of Degrassi or just a send-up of high school AUs in general, but uh. Either way, you've been warned.
Summary: Whatever it takes, they know they can make it through. :)

'Oh, look,' said Gokudera, the teenage rebel with a heart of gold, 'a popular kid.' )
makeste: [a shark with a beach ball on its nose] (Welcome to the church of bros)
OR SOMETHING! I GUESS!

COME ONE COME ALL )

Happy Oh-So-Belated Birthday to [livejournal.com profile] smiles1777, [livejournal.com profile] ojuzu, [livejournal.com profile] snapdraw_gone, and [livejournal.com profile] melissa_42! ♥ And Happy Birthday to [livejournal.com profile] gameazel as well! And [livejournal.com profile] sawako_shota and [livejournal.com profile] ever_free since I'm kidding myself if I think I'm making another post before the 16th. XD Anyway, much love to all you guys, hope you had, are having, or will have a wonderful day. :)
makeste: [a shark with a beach ball on its nose] (Baby there's a shark in the water)
So, after last week's translation issues (oh Spade, why does everything that comes out of your mouth cause trouble?), I was going to wait until IEM released KHR 323 instead of going with MS/BT's version again. But wouldn't you know it, here it is, 8 p.m. on a Sunday night and still no sign of it! So I will just go ahead and bite the bullet, because like hell if I have the willpower to wait another whole day to read this.

I'M ONLY HUUUUUMAAAAN )

ETA: Also, Happy Birthday to [livejournal.com profile] caddles, [livejournal.com profile] jote_jote, [livejournal.com profile] daigranon, and [livejournal.com profile] makemegray! ♥
makeste: [a shark with a beach ball on its nose] (I am filled with solutions!)
From [livejournal.com profile] mikenno (who has the best fucking memes lately):

Pick a character I write, and I will give you the top five ideas or concepts or factoids I keep in mind while writing that character that I believe are essential to depicting him or her accurately. This includes original characters and characters about whom I write fanfic.

I WANT TO DO THIIIIIS

And also there is one from [livejournal.com profile] rikasaurus!

the "what icon do you associate with me?" meme!
• do not look at the comments.
• take a look at my userpics.
• post a comment with the icon of mine you associate with me. leave commentary if desired.
• repost with your default icon.

This one I'm just curious about, idk. And I didn't use my default icon for this post, but I used one of my newer ones that hasn't gotten around as much so I figure it's all right.

319!

Dec. 19th, 2010 01:28 pm
makeste: (Think of me like Yoda.)
That's 11 times 29!

And it's also the number of the latest KHR chapter! How weird is that? )

On a separate note, it's still a couple of weeks till New Year's but I've already decided that I'm going to make it one of my resolutions to be more consistent about comment replies. I've gotten so bad in the past few months, it's ridiculous. I just let everything pile up and then I get all discouraged whenever I log in because there's so much to get to and I don't have the energy to do it all but then I feel like an ass for just ignoring people, especially since you guys are all so awesome and leave detailed comments that point out stuff I hadn't noticed and raise really interesting points that I want to discuss. But I just get lazy and intimidated. ;;

So my new goal is to get to at least 3 comments a day, since I figure even someone as lazy as I am can't possible be intimidated by that many! START SMALL AND WORK MY WAY UP. That's the new plan. XDb
makeste: (Shitt P Imma let you finish)
Goddammit I just found out the first chapter of Vongola GP is THIRTY-ONE FUCKING PAGES, FUCK MY LIFE sob oh well let's just get this over with already.

Besides, I want to find out more about Billy the No-Good Racer! )
makeste: (LITTLE CHROME)
Greetings, all!

So a few weeks ago, I got a new job, which has its pros and cons. Pros: I am slightly richer than before (read: still poor as the dickens). Cons: Internet usage is strictly regulated and monitored at the new job, so I'm pretty much away from LJ for about 12 hours a day (including commute and so forth), and sleeping for at least 8 of the other hours. THE FUN PART OF THE DAY JUST GOT A HELL OF A LOT SHORTER.

Plus on top of that there has been Christmassy stuff to take care of and colds to battle and so forth blah blah long story short I haven't reviewed the last two KHR chapters yet! Which was probably obvious already BUT I MUST MAKE EXCUSES FOR IT, OKAY. 8(

Anyway, what I was thinking was that I would wait until chapter 318 came out and then do like a double review or something. What I did not anticipate was that Vongola GP (a.k.a. KHR on cuteness steroids) would be premiering the same weekend! DAMN YOU AMANO AND TOSHINORI, SNEAKING UP ON ME LIKE THAT.

Soo... I guess it'll be a double review of KHR 317/318*, followed (most likely tomorrow) by a post on GP 01.

*you saw nothing! If you have no clue what I am talking about, then... good. XD

Idk, I'm making this up as I go. )
makeste: (VICTOLY)
It was terrible! I hated everything about it!!

Naw, I'm just kidding; it was actually kind of the best movie ever. Probably I'll be making some sort of long, spasmatic capslocky post about it in the near future. Since everything about it was completely perfect fffff wake me up when it's July.

Well, in the meantime, at least there's still KHR!

And I love Gokudera ALMOST as much as I love Ron Weasley, so that's something. )

ETA: Sorry for the EXTREME lack of replies, guys. I got a new job and I'm still adjusting to the hours. I'll try to get to these either this evening or tomorrow (Wednesday) night.
makeste: (I'M A SHAAAAAARK)
Chapter 315 review is forthcoming, though I might not get to it until tomorrow due to unavoidable circumstances such as SEEING HARRY FUCKING POTTER AT MIDNIGHT TONIGHT, FUCK YEAH.

Anyway, I've been watching too much How I Met Your Mother recently, and, well...

Title: Slap Bet
Rating: PG-13 (for language and comedic violence)
Characters: Ryohei, Aoba Koyo, and assorted others.
Notes/Warnings: Like, mad spoilers right up through the latest chapters, yo.
Summary: How Ryohei and Aoba’s battle should have gone.

'This is my pride, Sasagawa Ryohei.' )
